Pretty Quiet in the Nest

It has been pretty quiet in the nest the past week or so. Today we are experiencing some camera/software issues. We hope to have them resolved soon. We have started our planning process to make improvements to our system for next year. We will keep you posted on those as we progress through the remainder of 2011.

 

 

Here and There

I have seen Freedom in the air over our factory more in the last week than I have seen her in the nest. There were at least two other times when I saw a heron on the nest, although he/she did not stick around for any length of time during either sighting. I did see one of the parents in the nest yesterday afternoon eating a fish and again for a short time early this morning. As we get closer to August it is getting to the point where we will have to wish Freedom well as she gets ready to head out to make her way in the world. At that point our focus goes back to Liberty & Justice and watching them get ready for nesting again this coming winter.

Freedom Still Hanging Around

Even though you don't see her in the nest very often, Freedom is still hanging around pretty close to the nest. I did see her in the nest for about an hour or so yesterday morning. The real treat of the day was when I ducked out to grab a sandwich at lunch. As I was walking to my car I happened to look up and Freedom was soaring a few hundred feet up over the parking lot looping her way a little to the north. I grabbed my binoculars when I got to the car and got a really nice view. She is definitely getting very comfortable with her flying skills.

Temporarily Offline

It appears the computer controlling the camera froze up over the weekend. I hope we are back online soon. We plan to keep the camera live even though the eagles only stop by the nest for short periods of time now.
