All Is Well

Off to a good start to the weekend. All three eaglets up and getting fed earlier this morning. It is still breezy here, but temperatures are expected to be in the upper 60's later today and low 80's tomorrow. Eat, sleep and grow is the game plan for now!

Everybody Gets Fed

A cooler windy day again. The good news is that all three eaglets seems to be eating and getting fed. It is amazing to see how much food Liberty and Justice bring to the nest each day. The most interesting feeding times are when both parents are at the nest helping with the feeding, it really splits up the attention and makes it easier for the smallest eaglet to get food. Keep in mind the oldest eaglet is now 10 days old and the youngest is only five days old. It is easy to see what that age difference means in terms of size and development.

Beautiful Wednesday

It looks like a great day in the nest today. It might be a little windy this afternoon, but the temperature is supposed to get into the low 70's. We are seeing all three heads up and interested in the first feeding of the day. There seems to be no shortage of food for this family with plenty of fish and a few other assorted creatures to round out the food pyramid.

Cooler and Windy Today

We are back to a more normal temperature for this time of year today and the wind has picked up. The nest will be bouncing around some all day today. We saw one feeding earlier this morning with both parents helping and all three heads up asking for food.

Happy Family

The final egg hatched on Saturday and during a feeding this morning at 7:45am CDT all three eaglets had their heads up and were all getting at least some food from both Liberty and Justice. It is a beautiful clear sky day here today with highs expected in the 70's. Should be a good day in the nest.

Final Hatch Underway

During a feeding this morning just after 10am (central) you could see the third eaglet working to get out of its egg. I'm sure we will all be watching with anticipation as the day goes along.

Still Waiting

There has been lots of feeding activity in the nest all day today. We continue waiting to see of the thrid egg will hatch. Today is the 35 day mark since the last egg was laid back on February 17th. It has been great to see both of the current eaglets active and feeding (and fighting) throughout the day. Interest in the nest is still very high. Today we passed the million "hit" mark for the week. It is wonderful to know so many people are watching and care about the Alcoa eagle family.

Watching Around The World

Thanks to all of you for your interest in the Alcoa EagleCam. As the hatching has started this week we have had more than 600,000 hits to the site and we have had people tuning in from all around the world.

This week people have connected from 68 different countries outside the United States. Parents and students from around the globe are watching Mother Nature at her best. Third Hatch Anytime

The second eaglet hatched this morning. This afternoon it is clear that there is a hole and a crack in the third egg. If we do not see a hatch before dark, I'm sure it will happen overnight or early tomorrow morning.

Quite the Day!

What a very exciting day here at the Alcoa eagle nest.

One eaglet hatched and two more to go. Mom and dad have gathered a big buffet of fish to feast on. We would expect to see the other two eggs hatch in the next 2 to 3 days. The new eaglet was up and moving several times and getting fed by mom and dad. Stay tuned, the next few days should be very interesting.

Hatch Begins

The hatching is underway. The first eaglet is about out of the egg and we would expect the other two over the course of today and maybe tomorrow.

We are Getting Close

We are expecting to see the eggs begin to hatch in the next few days. Somewhere between the 17th and 20th is our current target. Overall, our weather should have daytime highs in the 60's or better for the next 10 days or so. The Alcoa EagleCam was featured last weekend at the Girl Scouts World Thinking Day in Davenport. Nearly 3,000 girls and adult leaders attended. Many of the girls stopped to watch the EagleCam and to pick up one of our calendar cards.

It is also great to see a number of posts from teachers at schools where they are watching the EagleCam as part of their classes. The next few weeks should be very interesting indeed!

Spring is Back

The little bit of snow left from last Friday and Sunday is just about gone. It is another windy day here in the Quad Cities, but the temerature is supposed to get to the mid-60's today. We are now about two weeks away from the time we would expect to see the eggs in the nest begin to hatch. It will be very exciting if we have to come up with three names for eaglets this year!
