Thank You.

Lucille Bingham

Mr. John, Thank you so much for reporting the status of the nest. You always do your best to keep us informed when we can't see the nest! All of us have been concerned because of the blizzard conditions. All of you at Alcoa who are responsible for "this wonderful adventure into Mother Nature at Her Best" are to be commended! We Eagleholics really appreciate all that you have done & continue to do for Our Amazing Eagles & Us. We wish all of you a Merry & Blessed Christmas & A Very Happy, Healthy & Prosperous New Year!

beamg

VroomGrrl, from the Quad Cities, Iowa/Illinois to the Quad Cities, Alabama: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too! I'm looking up your Quad Cities to learn more. I recognized your name from last year, I think. I hope you are warmer than we are here!

Mr. John and all of Alcoa: Merry, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Again, thanks for the gift of the eagle cam and the opportunity to see the nest, eaglets and parents so up close and personal. L & J are like family to all of us and so is Alcoa. Blessings to you and all of your families in this very special season. Stay warm!

Jackie S. Hamburg, NY

Annette Kryske

MR. JOHN, What a perfect day for me!!! I went bowling this morning & I had two 2 200 games & one 182, When I came home & had a nice lunch Leon made for us. Annette

Judith Hart

DO YOU HEAR WHAT I HEAR?

DO YOU SEE WHAT I SEE?

Kathryn Mellecker

Thank you Mr John and Alcoa, what a pleasure to see and hear the nest again! Eagles all over this area are moving around looking for food. Each year we put some deer scraps in the field by our house, I was able to put one picture on facebook. We are near the Iowa River about 40 miles west of the nest, maybe 50 miles.

jack chao

Merry Christmas and happy new years to all. Happy Ann. Annette!

Lucille Bingham

Annette, God Bless you & Leon! Sixty-five years is quite an accomplishment, for as we all know, marriage takes work & compromise, as well as love & commitment. Congratulations to you both! Michael & I celebrated thirty-nine years in October and we sure hope we will be around to celebrate as many as you!
Now I must thank Mr. John & Alcoa for restoring the live feed and sound! Looks like we are getting our Christmas present early! Thank you, YOU ARE THE BEST!!!

DNLwood

Thank you all at Alcoa for providing this great site. Merry Christmas to everyone that have enjoyed this site. The sound and picture are "A" ok. Looking forward to another year following the eagles on Alcoa EagleCam at Davenport Works.

Mavis

Happy Anniversary, Annette and Leon! Sixty five years...WOW!! What a wonderful celebration of life you two have been for each other. Hope you enjoy many more.

Mr. John, you stinker, you were working on this all along for us for Christmas! You did good!! Real good! What an awesome gift this is!

Merry Christmas to all of Aloca associates, and especially to you!

EaglesOnly

Thank you, Mr. John and Alcoa! It is wonderful to see and hear things at the nest.

Merry Christmas to everyone!

Happy Anniversary Annette!

Mavis

3:36 EST Dec 22nd

TOOT!! TOOT!! I hear the train a comin! This is so silly getting excited over hearing a train whistle...heck..I don't even get excited when I hear them in person, up close!!

Haven't seen L or J in a day or two so will definitely be on the watch for them tomorrow so I can hear them call out! Gosh, I really missed hearing them.

John

Merry Christmas to you too. And a happy new year....

Sally Glowicki

Happy Anniversary Annette & Leon! And, that's some bowling lady! Congrats for a series of good games. MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR.
no trace of L & J this morning. They're sleeping in late??

Judith Hart

I wonder what kind of a little bird that is talking to himself this morning, chirping, chattering, whistling away.
Looks like L&J have been in the nest, the way the snows all scooped out.....guess we all missed them!

Lucille Bingham

Best wishes for Christmas & New Years to all Eagleholics from the Binghams. Please go to this link and enjoy the greeting!

Mavis

Lucille, I just love all your Jacquie Lawson cards. This one was especially beautiful. Thank you. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Jo Ann

Lucille, that is one of the prettiest Christmas greetings I have ever seen. Thank you so much. I want to wish Alcoa a Very Merry Christmas and the Happiest of New Years. Alcoa has given all of us the best Christmas gift any of us Eagleholics could have wanted. I agree with Mavis, perfect planning, just in time for Christmas. Thanks to all for the Happy Anniversary wishes given to Annette and Leon. Have a Blessed Holiday to everyone and a special shout out to our troops who can't be home for Christmas. Love you all from all of us Kryskes.

Mavis

12:32 PM EST..

Judith, you were the last one in the nest digging around! All I get now is a black screen! Go fix it!! You did it this time! I'm gonna tell Mr. John on you if you don't shimmy back up there and fix it RIGHT NOW!! If you don't want me to tell on you...you better send me some divinity too! Go fix it before he finds out its broken.

gregory

do i hear turkeys?

ithought i heard a turkey.

anyone hear that

Mavis

12:45 EST

Good girl, Judith!! I see the cam is fixed! That didn't take you long! Now send the divinity or I'm still gonna tell Mr. John.

Judith Hart

Mavis, See the button on your computer?
PUSH IT.... your computer is turned off.
Must be schnapps residue. My screen is working, I just heard one of them near the nest.

Mavis

Dah!! I saw a black screen with the white squiggly arrow going around and around! I saw it after three different tries before I realized you broke it!! Now send the divinity before you get in trouble cuz I'm gonna tell!

I heard one of the eagles close by a minute ago. Maybe one will come to the nest shortly.

Judith Hart

Just thinking that this is Faith, Hope and Spirits first snow. Wonder If they'll come back to the nest looking for food, from Mom and Dad. They just might!

Mavis

1:48 EST...EAGLE ON NEST!!

gregory

whiile talking to my mother, she told me the birds had returned.

she also suggested she would take her own body to melt snow

gregory

we have fresh frozen fresh here in our fridge.-- i knew they would use that.

Mavis

2:00 EST...been watching for a few minutes as Justice and Liberty are both on nest. They found the frozen fish turned dove and taking turns trying to pick a frozen bite from whatever. You can hear the cracking of ice as they try to eat it. Frozen popcicle of SOMETHING...at least they remembered they had food stashed away!

One flew off leaving the other to have fun with the frozen entree

gregory

the mighty mississippi runs clear

Sally Glowicki

Lucille: Enjoy SO MUCH the Christmas card. Thanks.

Mavis

2:06 EST

I think that is Justice working on the popcicle. I hear Liberty close by. I love the sound of them calling out!

Sally Glowicki

Little early isn't i, Mavis. Or didn't you do to bed yet! (In reference to your messages this morning.)
I saw the eagles. They suvived the storm!

Sally Glowicki

Fingers are not working...but I'm sure you figured out what I meant!

Mavis

Sally, glad you made it home safe from your trip out yesterday.

Yeah..was up way too early this morning. I guess I had too much on my mind.

I see L or J at 10 o'clock on a far branch. This new cam is definitely picking up more background for us to see than the old cam. I like that. I remember Mr. John saying he was looking at one that could pan and zoom but don't know what he decided on. I do think this cam will zoom due to a post Judith made a few days ago. Either way..this cam shows us more than the last cam did!

Annette Kryske

11:05 AM Dec22.PST We just got back from marketing,& lo & behold, here was L Or J devouring something. & now is checking the middle of the nest. Still don't know who it is. I hear some
chirping over head. OMG what a wonderful sound.THANK YOU ALCOA this is the best CHRISTMAS present for all of us. It is blowing quite a bit out there. It must be Justice...He flew, but I still hear beautiful chirping sounds from above. Wow!!!!!How lucky can one be? We missed them for a few days, & just when I turned on to check on them, there he was. Thanks you all for your good wishes to us on our Anniversary. God Bless You All.
Annette

Judith Hart

gregory

YES MAVIS--

it was wonderful to see them fly in and take that frozen fish.

Judith Hart

Lucille,
Thank you for the lovely card, Merry Christmas to you both.

Mavis

Judith...I'm thinking they need to start looking for red meat to stockpile for the coming week. Mink or squirrel will work. Turtle might work too. Those frozen popcicles take too long to eat and hard on the throat going down. One thing for sure...L and J are survivors. They will know what to do. They survived that awful storm a couple of days ago...and that was one wicked storm!

I love that we can see more branches with this new cam. THANK YOU, Mr. John!!

Judith Hart

Mavis, Have you ever seen a turtle walking down a snowy path in winter? I haven't,I believe they go into hibernation.

Judith Hart

Here's an interesting article....tells why thousands of Bald Eagles hang around the Mississippi River dams in winter.

http://www.birdwatching.com/stories/baldeaglewinter.html

Lucille Bingham

Okay Ladies, what have you done to the camera? I can't get a live feed at this time. (3:55 pm est)
Is anyone else having this problem or is it just me?

Lucille Bingham

Taking a break from all I have to still do and so needed a nest and/or an eagle fix at this time!
Maybe Carolyn has posted a video from an earlier live feed, let me check!

Mavis

Now Judith..I did not know that. Being in the South..I see turtles year round. I never realized they hibernate! We have a lot of gopher holes on the farm but you usually find rattlesnakes or coyotes in them. Geez..come to think of it, I haven't seen a gopher in a couple of weeks now. I remember stopping on the road for one to pass about two weeks ago. Sure enough! You are smart.

Glad the end of the world did not happen yesterday as I would have gone to my grave not knowing that!! I am so glad that did not happen.

You are smart, Judith...yep..smart!! You still need to send the divinity!

Mavis

Lucille, Judith was scratching around in the nest earlier and messed up the cam. She fixed it but not good enough cuz it broke again. If you promise not to tell Mr. John on her..she'll send you some divinity!

Lucille...did you know that turtles hibernate? Just thought I would pass that on in case you didn't know! Not everyone is as smart as me now!

Ruth MacLeod

Very pretty view of the nest as sunset nears at 5:15 est.

Judith Hart

Are those Starlings in the nest?

gregory

it is a very nice view

don't you think MAVIS?

Ruth MacLeod

Even the starlings looked pretty at sunset.

Cherrycarol

Happy Anniversary Annette & Leon!! Awsome 65 years. And what a great bowler. I can get that playing on the WII game. Haven't bowled in years. I need to go again. Hope to see L & J tonight. Seen the cleaning crew about 20 there awhile ago! We have them all over the area. I counted 50 the other day by the salon. Have a good nite all!!

Annette Kryske

Boy you ladies are too much!!!!I go away from the computer for one hour & all he--breaks out. There is nothing wrong with the cam or sound. You people on the east coast,& central eat coast cause all the camera problems., with your weather, & storms. We only have earthquakes once in a while just to shake things up a bit.hee Hee. Love reading all your comments. As I told you before you make me laugh. Haha.
Thanks Judith for the forecasts .You are so thorough.
Annette

Elizabeth Rieder

Thanks Judith for that link, there was a lot of good information there. I even saw the stats on Bald Eagles in Texas. Altho we have a few, it is not quite like up around the Mississippi. The river dam was mentioned in another article I read, how they like to check out the outflow for the stunned fish. No reason to work so hard when man had made a handy little thing there to get the fish ready. Did I mention Bald Eagles are smart too.HAHA

Annette Kryske

2:45 PM Dec 22 PST, I just finished a comment & both L?J flew into the nest. I have a feeling it won"t be too long until Lib drops her eggs. They are eating something or maybe just doing some nest cleaning. Before the nest was filled with the little birds, maybe their droppings taste good to L & J....They don't seem to mind the snow. Was that a "Love Tap" ????Lib.just left& is back. You can hear the ice chips cracking, as they go at it.Nitey nite my little ones.& Humans.
Annette

Jo Ann

Does anyone else hear music on the Alcoa cam with the volume on?

gregory

now iam certain--

i hear turkeys.

Sally Glowicki

Thanks, Judith, for sharing the very interesting article about eagles and the Mississippi River. Makes me wish I could venture out and do what this couple do!

Mavis

10:19...EST

I just checked on the nest. I guess the reflection of the moonlight or security lights on the snow make the nest more visible than it was last year at night. Anyway, I noticed that when viewed at night, you can see light through any holes or openings in the nest wall. I am amazed how tight that wall is as very light light shines through.

Judith, I have to agree with Sally and the rest..you did good with the link to the article on the eagles and the Mississippi. I enjoyed reading it. You are really on your toes today...what kind of vitamins do you take? Just joking. You are always so full of useful information. I just can't wait for someone to ask me if turtles hibernate or not!!

Oh..Cherrycarol..you amaze me. I don't think I ever had your level of energy! I truly admire that. I also love the way you get so much enjoyment from life and the nature around us.

beamg, Lucille, and all the rest...Good night. Oh! We made it...the world did not end.. and L and J were never worried about it in the least!

Darlene Nichols

Just checked in to get caught up on the days activities.........sounds like all is well at the nest. Don't forget to look in on the Florida (Tampa) eagles......their eggs should be hatching sometime in the next week to ten days ! Lucille....thank you for the lovely Chritmas card.....wishing you, your family and all the eagleholic family a Merry Christmas !

Sher

YAY...Early Christmas Gift :)

Just checked in and see one of the eagles in the nest...

First time in months!!!

Wishing A BLESSED Christmas To Everyone :)

Ruth MacLeod

Clicked on at 1:40 to see an eagle staring me in the face from the Alcoa branch. Could see the head and tail of another in the next playing with the sticks. During a buffering time there was just one in the nest and he stayed for another 10 minutes before flying off to the lower left of the nest. Longest I've seen them on the nest for a long time.

Mavis

2:33 PM EST

Train coming...that must be a busy track! Snow in the nest does not look as thick as it was. No sign of L or J.

Good day to stay home and rest up...tomorrow is Christmas Eve and always a busy day! I may drop in of beamg...she always has hot cocoa ready!

Jo Ann

Saw both eagles in the nest this AM. One brought a stick and stayed a long time. I haven't seen both of them together in a long time.

Judith Hart

4:21 PM EST Eagle in the nest.

Judith Hart

Liberty just heard some geese fly over....Hmmmm Christmas Dinner

Judith Hart

Liberty just flew off the nest at 4:45 PM

Cherrycarol

There are tons of geese around the area. I was driving around looking for eagles & all I saw was geese. Hundreds of them.

Cherrycarol

Liberty is checking out the bowl. Sitting on it a lot more lately.

Annette Kryske

2:45 PM Liberty is in the nest. Hi "Sweetheart" Do you hear the train whistle?? Justice just came in also. A little bit of a "love tap". They both are checking if all is well in the nest. 3 PM. Lib, flew, & now J. left. I guess they just stopped by to say "Hello", we're fine. Let me wish my dear friends out there a MERRY CHRISTMAS!!Don't over eat, just enjoy. We will be going to JoAnn's for dinner.on Tues. Nitey nite to all.
Annette

Judith Hart

Cherrycarol.....at about 4:25 they were honking as they flew over the nest.

Mavis

5:23 AM EST Dec 24th

Happy Christmas Eve EVERYONE!!

***OT***

When I was a child, this was the MOST exciting day of the YEAR! I would wake up Christmas Eve thinking, "THIS IS IT!" ! Santa is coming tonight. Mom would spend the day baking and doing fun stuff. The radio had Christmas music all day and fun stuff to listen to. More packages would appear under the tree! It was such a FUN DAY...the the LONGEST NIGHT EVER! As soon as night came, we started looking in the sky for Santa. I even saw him a few times.. (or so I thought)! We would find the biggest sock we had and would drape it over a chair, or the back of the couch. We would choose our special place for Santa to leave the toys and fill our socks with candy and fruit. We were in bed early because we knew if we were still up when Santa came, he wouldn't stop! Never slept more than 10 minutes at a time because we knew Santa was coming and we were listening for him! The whole night was filled with anticipation and excitement at what was under the tree for us! Around 4 o'clock my sisters and I would start hollering from our bedroom, "is it time? Is it time? Can we get up now? Did Santa come?" !! (we were not allowed out of our bedroom all night or to peek out into the living room until Mom and Dad said we could get up.

Christmas Eve...the most exciting day of the year! Christmas Day was the most FUN..but Christmas Eve..nothing topped Christmas Eve!!

I know this is Aloca's site for Liberty and Justice. But this is Christmas EVE in the most wonderful country ever. So many of us have grown into a family of sorts..so please...share your stories too. If you see L or J..shout that out as well.

I am looking at the nest, all is quiet, no L or J yet and snow still in the nest. Beautiful picture.

Merry Christmas everyone! If we could only fill the year with this love, peace, goodwill, and joy that we feel now...Oh my, what a thought!

Mavis

6:49 AM EST

One eagle in the nest..well, on the Alcoa limb. Not sure but I think it is Justice! He is just looking around. He actually looks cold although he is probably not. His hair is fluffed up and the wind is not strong enough to rock the nest. Oophs...he just flew off....6:52 am

Cherrycarol

Sounds good Mavis. Merry Christmas to everyone!

Annette Kryske

MAVIS:: Here is a funny for you all. At the time you saw Justice, I just happened to get up to make a "Pit Stop", to the John. I usually wake up one time in the middle of the night.
Unfortunately my computer is in our bedroom & we usually look at the big red #'s. & it was 3:49. same time. Just a coincidence. Thought i'd passed that info on to you. Have to print a copy of today'.s puzzles for us to do while having breakfast. Bye.
Annette

Kathryn Mellecker

Merry Christmas eagle lovers, Alcoa, and Mr John. We all enjoy the GIFT of being able to see into the lives of the eagle pair, Liberty and Justice. We worry about them almost as much as we are concerned for our own families. Yes, they are wild birds, but we still see almost human emotions and reactions. And yes we love these eagles. Thanks for giving us this experience.

Mavis

10:15 EST

Liberty just flew in and out,..I hear her close by. Judith noticed a blood spot in the nest a few minutes ago but it was disturbed when Liberty flew in. I can't see it now..just barely. They must have been on the nest earlier with a kill but I didn't see it. I just saw the blood spot after Judith pointed it out to me. Did anyone see L or J earlier with food in the nest?

Jo Ann

Decorah eagle sitting on tree right now. Beautiful, as all eagles are.

gregory

jo ann-

i see the decorah eagle too

Jo Ann

Beautiful, isn't it?

gregory

very stoic

Elizabeth Rieder

When we lived in Paris,Tenn. My Aunt Glady was living with us and so the room we had became her and we had cots in the hall. It was a long hall with the bathroom at the end and the living room was at the other end with a door.Christmas EVE we went to bed and were asleep when all of a sudden I hear someone walking down the hall pass our beds. I knew if I open my eyes I would be in trouble so I kept them shut tight. I hear foot steps go back to the living room. now no one would be up at this hour EXCEPT Santa Clause. Next morning I saw a trail of white artificial snow tract into the bathroom and back again. I was certain that Santa had to use our bathroom and I told all the kids I knew that he went to the john at our house. Boy did that make my day and he left me just what I wanted too. Many years later Aunt Glady was laughing about trying to not wake us and get back to the living room to decorate the tree with the gleeming snow on the branches, not realizing she had left a trail down the hall. I like my version better than her.

Mavis

Libby, that is such a cute story. You told it so well that I was right there with you! Wonderful memories we have all tucked away...makes us feel good when we pull them out for that special warm feeling we need now and again!

Merry Christmas, Libby!

Annette Kryske

Mavis, For some reason, I always thought you were talking about Libby, as in Liberty!!!I just hit myself in my head & Duh!!!!I am sure we all could write books about ourselves and our families. At dinner tonight , Leon and I were reminiscing about our families eating habits compared to ours, now.My dear Mother died at age 49 and yet her sisters lived until 90's,& their children lived to 102 to 104.They ate lots of fried foods,&desserts. We eat pretty healthy & so do our young adults. But....we still have our scoop of mint flavored ice & brownies for dessert...Yummy.
Now the ????Of the day. DID ANYONE SEE L or J
today?Had some rain, & I was without my computer until after 3:30 & no Phone.
Christmas Eve..Leon will put a fire in the fireplace & we will have some beer for him & wine for me & relax.Tomorrow we go to JoAnn for turkey din din.Merry CHristmas Dear Friends.
Annette

Mavis

Annette...nope...I wasn't talking to an eagle..I was talking to our Elizabeth.

I was reading about your cousins. Your mom died when she was 49 but her sisters lived into their 90s and THEIR children...your first cousins...lived until they were 102 and 104. That is remarkable. You mom must have been younger than her sisters as you are way younger than your cousins. That is something, Annette.

I saw Justice early this morning and Liberty a couple of times this afternoon. They looked like they were surviving the weather just fine!

beamg

IT'S OFFICIAL! IT'S CHRISTMAS MORNING!

MELE KALIKIMAKA TO ONE AND ALL!

I feel like a kid this morning being up way too early. Not being a kid anymore, I'm appreciating a small window of peace and quiet, waiting for the world to wake up and hoping for a glimpse of L&J today. I have so enjoyed finally catching up with everyone's comments. Haven't seen any action in the nest yet but did hear geese earlier. So as not to leave anyone out by naming names, please take this as a wish for all of you today: Wishing you all a Blessed, Merry Christmas, with peace, love and joy all around. This is such a special day - take the time to really enjoy it!

Time to get ready for the DAY! Take care all. bbl

gregory

ELIZABETH--

i loved that story about SANTA using your bathroom.

too funny.

Judith Hart

9:52 AM EST

ONE OF THE EAGLETS WAS JUST IN THE NEST!!!!!

Mavis

9:52..EST..Christmas morning

Some stranger just landed on nest wall ...could not see whole body...brown and splotchy white with the feet of an eagle. He/she put head down for an instant and I saw a dark head with dark beek..don't think it was an owl but only an instant to see it. He/she was big...almost the size of L or J.

Merry Christmas EVERYONE!

gregory

9:55 est

WOW!-- a large bird of prey just visited the nest. it was about half the size as justice.

almost sure it was a periguin falcon..

never saw his head. just his chest. speckeled white and brown

gregory

PEREGRINE FALCON

i googled it and i think that is what it was.
MAVIS saw the black head and we both saw the splotchy chest

Judith Hart

The bird I saw in the nest was much larger than a Peregrine Falcon....It was the size of Liberty and Justice.

Jo Ann

I want to wish Alcoa, Mr. John, and all of my eagleholics a joyous and blessed Christmas Day. I'm hoping we get to see L and J. That would be a nice Christmas present. Love to all!

Chuck Howarth

Did it look like my attachment, it was probably one of the three young eagles from last summer, coming back to the nest.
