great to see plenty of food in the fridge!!

Judith Hart

GO AL and COA....GOOD LUCK....HOPE YOU WIN!

LeeAnn

The fish is so fresh that the tail is still flapping as the feeding is going on! What beautiful pictures of the babies in the nest. Thanks so much for sharing with all of us!

Janice

Still worry about the little one. Seems like it doesn't get much food and it also seems to get picked on by the other one. Is it really ok?

Judith Hart

Looks like Liberty is working on that old Coot now. I'm sure the kids are real excited about munching on that thingy. Looks like a dried out coconut husk. Ah! Good, she gave up on it.

Nancy

My but our babies are growing. Wish we could see the tally again on the voting.

beamg

From an Alcoa Eagle watcher to the Florida Gulf Coast University Eagles, located in Ft Myers, FL home of the famous Ft Myers eagles nest: GOOD LUCK IN THE SWEET 16! Since the Hawkeyes aren't in it, HOPE YOU GO ALL THE WAY!

Look at those little guys, all sacked out in the sun. What a life!

sandy

thank you for the great pictures. they are so sharp and clear. you can see all the scales on the fish.

the eaglets are growing so fast. thank you the snow storms have stopped for awhile.

happy Easter everyone.

sandy

thank goodness the snow storms

Judith Hart

Just wondering...since the percentage of votes cast no longer shows up, I see there two vote buttons, one at the bottom, when you click that another appears at the top. Do you have to click both?

Catherine

I have been clicking both.

Coleen Perilloux Landry

The eaglets are doing beautifully in spite of their very cold welcome into this world. I am so delighted to watch this. The two eagle couples that I photograph in southeast Louisiana are already teaching their four fledglings to fly. I will miss them and am grateful I can see inside the nest of Liberty and Justice so I know what my eaglets did. The eagles are amazing parents.

Judith Hart

10:25 am EDT Justice just flew in, Liberty took off. Justice feeding Al, Coa napping, she's up now, both eating, no bonks yet.

beamg

Coleen P. - 4 fledglings? WOW very rare but I know it happens. Sooner Lake just this year but sadly the last I heard they are down to 2 eaglets. Haven't heard about the one you mentioned. Is there a cam?

beamg

Coleen P, I just realized I must have misread your post. You said 2 couples and four fledglings. So, 2 each? I should read slower and let things sink in I guess.

Deb

Anyone having problems with the feed this morning

Doug Felix

Deb-no problems with the feed. There was one VERY short interruption a couple of hours ago but I think the "techies" were just adjusting something.

E. R.

9:15am CDT Woke this morning to a view of the eaglets sitting with Liberty in the sun. Beautiful sight, with the warm sun and quiet morning. They stretch their tiny wings and look around. E2 seems to stay by mom most of the time and E1 sits up and checks out his nest world. Justice flies in and after a quick chat with Liberty,he looks around for food to feed the eaglets. Liberty flies off as the eaglets turn toward Dad. They know good old dad will feed them something interesting. Doesn't seem to be any fighting this morning. Must have been an earlier feeding by mom. These guy are growing so fast, it becomes a full time job for both parents to feed them. Both are eating, then Justice tries to fit both eaglets under him like eggs, good luck with that Justice. Not going to happen since they stretched their wings and looked around. Hope every one has a blessed Easter.

aquadro95

my husband and I were so surprised to see the the florida gulf coast university beat georgetown, so now we are really pulling to see them win again!! Go Florida Gulf Goast!!

Judith Hart

OT..Update on two other nests.
At the Sutton Center, Sooner lake, down to two chicks out of four. The #1 is the most aggressive eaglet I've ever seen, when #2 takes a submissive posture #1 keeps right on pecking it. If you scroll down they have photo's of it's featherless back. Just plain nasty bird!
http://www.suttoncenter.org/pages/live_eagle_camera

At the Minnesota DNR nest, The 2 parents are sitting on the 2 1/2 month old egg.Wish the egg would just crack and disappear. Hope they aren't there until Fall.

Runningwildly

Thank you so much for posting all the awesome pictures and comments!! I followed SW FL Eaglets, Hope & Honor from birth to fledging this week. Now I'm excited to follow these.

Rich Swanson

In the pictures above, one of the eaglets is being fed an eye of a fish. Yum!

Judith Hart

OH! Right you are Rich...see that now!

gregory

MAVIS--

two days ago, i posted comments. i posted one under a name name of ta. i thought it was obvious and was not trying to be decieptful. i was only making fun of myself!

the other poster that suggested ALCOA as being a HITLER nazi was NOT ME! mr john has the email addresses im sure. i would never have made such a cruell accusation. please give it some doubt and believe me.

the posters suggested the names of AL and COA. the company never suggested any thing and so these names are ours and the ones i have voted on more than 100 times now.

we may not get along.-- but i support you on this issue

gregory

i missed the eartquake.. is it confirmed?

RodJ

Looks pretty quiet on the nest. All is good! Just saw a little head peek out from behind parent. Supposed to be in the 50's again today. Yippeee!

nanapeg

NO earthquake...

Mavis

Thank you, gregory. The poster that mention Nazi was not you and were referring to one person on one pair of names on our list...I never that that poster was you.

I started calling the eaglets AL and Coa even before the naming began. Coa just seems to fit the older one and AL fits the younger, smaller one. I am not going to use the names again until an official name is given to each eaglet. I really never thought they would make the short list and wasn't worried about my nicknames for them. Now, however, I don't want to do anything that some with different name choices may resent.

I appreciate your post. Thank you. AND..I AM vorting for AL and COA!!

Mavis

CORRECTION: Post # 28 (Can't believe how bad I am)

was referring...not were referring

I never THOUGHT...not that that poster...

Sorry...

Kathryn Mellecker

Today is the first day all week that I have been able to get the live picture...and when it comes up the BABIES ARE ALONE!!! Now a parent is with them. WHEW! Now both parents! Looks like the larder is well stocked. Wonderful day in store. Temp here is almost 54.

Catherine

Fish delivery by Justice and Liberty just left. Looks like Dad duty now.

gregory

MAVIS-

no need--ive always loved ya-

been here before-- lets make nice.

Kathryn Mellecker

Impressive PS from the little one!

gregory

lets watch eagles!!

ColleenM

Finally getting a tease of Spring here in eastern Ohio! So good to see our little family doing so well. I too saw the "shaking" this morning. Haven't had time to look over all the posts, so I'm not up to speed if anyone found out what may have caused it. The only thing I could think of was one of the parents perhaps, (they should weigh approx. 10 or more lbs.,) landing on it? Maybe, or another "critter". @ 12:54 looks like Justice is watching over the babes. And, before I forget, for those that celebrate, have a Blessed, safe and a Easter filled with love!

beamg

Hi Colleen, isn't that tease of spring just the best? I'm itching to get outside and do yard work which I know you also do and love. We have a chance of snow this Sunday night but I'm hoping the weather people are wrong again. Pretty sure NO earthquake this AM so probably was just a landing by we don't know what somewhere close to the camera.

I see the "kids" are tucked under, or are out of sight at least, so I guess it's back to cleaning.

Happy and Blessed Easter to Everyone!

Coleen Perilloux Landry

I don't know if I am allowed to do this, but I will give it a try. I follow two pairs of eagles in southeast Louisiana (with my camera). Each pair hatched two chicks which are now fledglings. I recorded lots of it beginning September 24, 2012 on my "Picture a Day" gallery. I also have an eagle gallery from previous years and plan to do a big 2012-2013 gallery considering what Hurricane Isaac did to one nest. You can find the photos at www.pbase.com/septembermorn. Leave comments if you'd like.

Judith Hart

Al and Coa pretty much spending the day in the sunshine, following Mom I think, all around the nest. Then Al gives Coa a good jab to the derriere.

Rich Swanson

Coleen, I posted you link on my Eagle Cams FB page. Should get out there. Thanks.

Judith Hart

Rich, isn't that a website for photographers who sell their photographs?

nanapeg

Well it's 2:52 CDT and 57 degrees. Looks like the babies are using L(?) for shade while they nap. Makes sense. I would imagine that those down coats get pretty warm under the sunshine.

Olivia Braniger

There are getting so big!!!!

Ted H

2nd egg ( of 3 ) hatched at Ft St Vrain Colorado. Nest is twice the size of Alcoa, but almost no food in the nest. This pair lost it's young last year due to weather.

Seeing that nest really makes me appreciate the care and food in the Alcoa nest.

Hoping for the best for all the eaglets!

Koko

I've been watching for over two weeks now, it just gets more exciting every day!! Such ferocious raptors showing the same tenderness and caring for their young as the gentlest of beasts. Truly moving, every time I tune in.

RodJ

Can't remember if I shared this video last year. It's from last years Decorah nest. Shows eaglets will eat about anything. Not much of gross factor either.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5UbWEAB9h8

Judith Hart

Rodj, Thanks for sharing. They were three characters, remember "Dancin in the rain"...

Rich Swanson

Pbase is a website that allows photographers to show their wares for a fee of $23 a year if I remember correctly. Yes you can buy, but it is not necessary to go see what they have.

Jo Ann

Thanks RodJ for sharing. I always loved this video. They were so wonderful. I so enjoyed watching them. Still makes me sad for what happened.

Cherrycarol

What is she tearing apart? A duck? Carol

Judith Hart

Carol, Was that a new coot brought in or one from the underground?

R L ML

Came on to 2 sleeping beauties in front of Mom or Dad. Only a wing or foot stretch now and then. Now one is being fed other still sleeping.

ColleenM

@6:49, bonking on the nest!

ColleenM

The little one has a tiny spot on it's back from the "bonking", no blood though. They'll be fine!

RodJ

Feeding going on in the nest by both L&J.

RodJ

Bites are getting bigger and so are the PS's!

RodJ

They looked stuffed, crops are huge!

nanapeg

Something out there had them all upset!

It's like herding cats. lol

RodJ

Ma trying to cover them up, but they aint cooperating.

ColleenM

@ nanapeg, herding cats, funny! Rod, they have had allot of freedom early this evening. Every time I checked in, they were snoozing by themselves, parent not on them. Their new found independence may make bed time more difficult!

Carolyn

Here is a video from earlier this evening when Justice and Liberty had to warn off an intruder who must have come too close for comfort!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hac70dcKJh8

Cristine

Another outstanding video! Thank you, Carolyn.

nanapeg

You're becoming a pro at this video stuff, Carolyn. Really nice...

Cristine

Liberty sitting on the nest in the dark. All you can see is her beautiful white head, in profile. Stunning.

ColleenM

Great video Carolyn, and you got a good "PS" in it too!! LOL

Rich Swanson

Quiet night, so I thought I'd repost this...

Care to "see" the Alcoa nest? Here is how to do it.....

To see the nest.....

Open GOOGLE MAPS. Not google earth.

Change to Satellite view.

Paste in the following location:

41.526498,-90.466286

Zoom all the way in.

The map will change to 45 degree view and there will be a little green arrow pointing at the nest!

EaglesOnly

4 45am CT - Liberty is awake and alert. I've been watching for about 10 min. Maybe she's planning her day.

Mavis

5:50 AM EDT GOOD SATURDAY MORNING March 29th

Liberty (?) was asleep when I first looked in but she is looking around...now she is settling back down. Too dark to make out much more but the nest looks quiet and peaceful.

This Easter, I hope everyone can wake to sunshine..and enjoy the Blessings that are ours if we want them.

Good Morning EVERYONE

Mavis

Guess WHAT? Today is March 30th...not the 29th!!!

I'm like Doug...always a day late!! Didn't mean to confuse anyone..

Judith Hart

Coa is 2 weeks old today!

Mavis

7:48 EDT

Liberty just flew in to help Justice with the morning feeding. Both ate, but E1 ate a little better. E1 is 2 weeks old today!! She should be thermoregulating now. Looks like they are ready for today but Liberty is settlling down over them. She is not ready yet for the busy day that is about to begin..

Judith Hart

Morning feeding went well, both parents fed leftovers and little ones ate well.

beamg

Good morning everyone!

Carolyn - another great video! I was actually watching at the time and couldn't figure out what bothered them but they were sure upset. The only thing I noticed in the video was geese sounding too close but not sure if that was it. Enjoyed the second look at it! They can be so fierce and then so gentle!

Can't believe it's been 2 weeks already since E1 hatched! No wonder my house isn't clean and ready to Easter dinner which is tonight!

Both L & J are on the nest now. Justice brought in more nesting stuff, Liberty took off and the kids are maybe waking up. Sounds like a great spring morning at the nest.

Happy viewing and Happy Easter everyone!

Doug Felix

Good Morning all! I've been out in the woods early just to listen for wild turkeys calling...one of my favorite things to do this time of year!!

I just got on as Liberty flew back in. Was that the same rabbit and coot that they've been working on for a couple of days??

Yup E1 is two weeks old today! Hard to comprehend just how fast these little wobbleheads grow!! It's been a couple of decades since I've been around chicks growing.

Justice just came back in with a whole batch of grass/nesting material that has about covered up all the fish that were showing at the "top" of the nest.

Liberty hopped up and is either up on an upper limb now or has taken off again.

beamg

Geeez, I meant "ready for Easter dinner" not "to Easter dinner" so maybe I need more coffee. bbl

Doug Felix

Yup it's definitely time for more coffee!

ColleenM

Happy Birthday little one! Morning to beamg, Mavis, Doug, and all! Waking up to a picture perfect Spring morning! Looks like all is quiet on the nest. Hope everyone has a wonderful Easter weekend. Judith, I think I saw where the weather is to warm up!

Doug Felix

Looks like it's time for another feeding.

Doug Felix

Oh Oh!! I have a black cam screen-have the the "livestream" and "Alcoa EagleCam..." insignias but nothing else???

Doug Felix

Don't know what was going on then...I had the colored bars at first then a black screen. I changed to the low setting and got everything back. Have all three quality settings now with cam view on all three.

Looks like J is back on sitting duty.

Judith Hart

Doug, mine is good, yesterday, I had that problem with a green screen. I shut down the computer and restarted....worked.

Kathryn Mellecker

I can't see it very well, but is one eaglet out from under J and only has it's head under him? Where is the other baby? Underneath?

Judith Hart

Catherine

While Justice was feeding e2, Liberty just came in with a BIG fish. She is now feeding e1 and Justice is feeding e2.

Catherine

Liberty just left. Maybe it's a good fishing day. Dad left with feeding chores.

Catherine

Feeding over - they both got plenty this time and I didn't see any bonking.

Catherine

Liberty just did a drop by and left another fish.

Doug Felix

I just came back for a couple of minutes and noticed the fresh fish. Also looks like a fresh coot at about 11 or 12 on the nest??

R L ML

-------------new thread------------------

Catherine

Liberty just dropped off another fish and has left again. So far, I have seen 3 fish deliveries in the past half hour or so.

GERRI GRECK

Has the camera shifted? The only thing showing is the edge of the nest, sky and tree limbs.
