Mavis The news people were talking about your names. Al & Coa. Carol

Kathryn Mellecker

glad to see the voting has started, I voted, have been away most of the day, so thanks for the pictures. Still having computer problems getting the live feed. I think I need a faster modem.

Thanks Alcoa for all you do!

Annette Kryske

2:57 PM PDT. What an excting day this is! The little ones have been sunning themselves, and seem to be getting along.Just a little poking here and there, just like siblings do.
I guess Molly & Stormy weren't even mentioned, so therefore I have been punching in AL Coa. I hope they pick that as it is truly an honor to have the names AL-COA named after such a prestige Company as ALCOA, who has made all this possible for us.Thank you again ALCOA ,& Mr. John Rich, & of course Bruce, who fixed the cam( even on his day off) GO> AL & Coa Rah Rah.

J.P.

Honor and Glory. The voting pool has already been tainted by "AL & Coa". The proof is in the fact that the news are now talking about it. Somebody should post a disclaimer somewhere that it's ok to vote for something else.

BTW, a little too lucid and coherent of an argument to be grouped in with the other one using two different names, don't you think?

Joyce

GEEEZ guys. Just enjoy the beautiful nature we are witnessing. Stop the ads for your books, etc. Who really cares what the names are. It's only for us that they even vote! Joyce Pinecrest Ca

Cheryl

After taking a look at the photos posted of the "little ones", all I can think of for names is "Peace and Harmony". The are such precious little creatures!

Annette Kryske

4:21 PM PDT Justice is calling Liberty.I see a rabbit,& lots of fish.Looks they will be eating well the next few days. Trains keep passing & tooting their whistles. Sounds wonderful to us city folks.!!!! CAROLYN:, I have been sharing all your videos with my email people. They love looking at them, & they in turn pass it on to their family & friends. Din din time for us now. Nitey Nite , Little ones & big ones too.

Catherine

Where have all the posters gone
Long time passing

Gone to cast their votes everyone
When will we ever learn

April 5 we will learn –please vote

Cherrycarol

Babies r almost too big to fit under mom! WOW they grow so fast.

Oilton Elementary

We are still watching our Eagle Friends daily at our school in South Texas. The children are still so enthusiastic about our new friends. Thanks a million Alcoa for all you all have done with EagleCam. You have brought so much learning into our classroom.
We will keep watching. :) God Bless!

Cheryl

I see there is a bunny rabbit in the pantry...can't believe it...so close to Easter!

Mavis

Has anyone noticed that it is full moon?!

Suzanne... Liberty has a small black spot just behind and slightly above the right eye. She also has a small black, rectangular shaped spot on her white left tail feathers which is only visible when she spreads them out

Justice has no marks but his brow line is more sharply defined which takes time to recognize. Tell your Dad I said "hello"!!

Lynn Ziegler

These close up pics of the eaglets are the cutest yet. For how little they are they sure do have big claws already. I wish I was on and knew that I could submit a name for them, but didn't learn of this site soon enough. Would have said Sunshine and Rainbow. Maybe next year I'll catch it in time. You guys are the greatest to keep this site up and running so well.

Judith Hart

Lynn, Sunshine and Rainbow are nice names!

illinieagle

when will we find out the babies names? lOOKS LIKE lIB AND JUSTICE ARE HAVING A GOOD NIGHT WITH THEIR BABIES IN THENEST?

Doug Felix

Good Morning All! The nest looks real quiet...as in no wind! Is it my imagination or are the parking lot lights not on? Maybe it's the full moon that has the nest so lit up that I don't notice the back lighting as much.

Not nearly as many comments to catch up on this morning but I was on until bedtime last night. Has the name voting got people so upset that they don't want to say anything now?

Illinieagle-the name voting close on April 5. With the nearly instant tally of the votes that I saw last night I would imagine the results will also be known on April 6.

Doug Felix

Just looked at the voting box (and of course voted)-I'm not seeing the tally results listed like I was yesterday? Also noticed that it looks like you might have to click on two "vote" boxes?? A second vote box shows up after clicking on the first one? Something has changed on it since about 2230 last night.

Waiting on the sunrise and another day of watching wobbleheads...well not so much now!

Catherine

I just heard a few peeps and Liberty is responding. She is up and calling for Justice.

Catherine

Morning Doug - I noticed the change to the voting box too. No more percentages. I wonder if that is a reaction to some of the comments yesterday or just a temporary glitch. Guess we'll know more as the day goes on.

Liberty has settled back down on the nest and has her head tucked in. I hope the weather today is as good as it was yesterday. We sure got to see a lot of the babies yesterday.

Dadfsr

I'll second that notion on the good weather today!!

There were sure some awesome shots of the kids yesterday-especially with the zoom in assistance!! Thanks again to everyone at Alcoa that's watching and making this happen!!!

Dadfsr

Justice is on the nest and Liberty has taken off for her morning flight...wonder if she brings anything back? Justice came in empty handed-nest engineering must not be on the schedule today.

Haven't figured out if J is going to give the kids a snack yet or not....

Dadfsr

PS!!!

Dadfsr

Looks like the younger kid got the majority of the bites before the older one "made room" for more ;) They're both getting fed pretty well now though. Sure do like it when we have the color on the cam and the birds are singing in the background!

Dadfsr

Feeding time over. Time for J to put in them under for a nap....wonder how soon we see heads start poking out again?

nanapeg

Good Morning...never tire of seeing the sunrise shining on the nest. What a nice way to start the day.

John Riches

Nobody at Alcoa has changed anything related to the way the name voting results display. We are checking into it. Might be a glitch at Survey Monkey. We will work to get the percentage display back as soon as possible.

beamg

Good morning everyone!

Doug, you're right about the change when voting.

FISH DELIVERY AT 7:18AM CDT!

Dadfsr

Liberty just returned with a fish...shad maybe? It's at the noon position on the nest right now.

She just took off again-is this going to be another 7 fish day??

Dadfsr

Mr John-I'm not too worried about the results showing...kind of keeps the suspense going ;)

Look at all that food for the kids to grow on.

What a gorgeous day at the nest so far!!

Coffeechugbooks

What was the food brought in yesterday? I tried to backread to get caught up, but I was not quite sure of totals - http://eagleeyecamera.wikispaces.com/2013+Eaglet+Food+Chart

Here is an eagle inspired zentangle I did last night - http://coffeeforthebrain.blogspot.com/2013/03/zentangle-32713-eagle-inspired.html

Dadfsr

Coffee-I wasn't on enough yesterday to keep up on the food tally either. I don't think we're getting everything posted that is brought in-maybe some of the "newbies" or casual observers just aren't wanting to post?

There sure seems to be a lot food on the nest right now though!

Zentangle-so that's what some of my doodling should be called. I do like what you put together Coffee! The more you look at it the more another dimension of something seems to pop out at you

beamg

Mr. John thanks for the quick info about the voting percentages. I have to agree with Doug that if it isn't there it builds the suspence. BTW - I loved the noontime zoom-ins the last couple of days. What a treat!

I must have missed a lot yesterday - don't think I realized how many fish were already there! And now a new delivery already.

Catherine, I like your version of "Where Have all the flowers gone..." Cute!

It IS a beautiful day as the nest! Quiet, peaceful, sunshine, birds singing all around, kids have been fed, Dad's sitting and food aplenty all over. Very nice morning!

Catherine

Thank you Mr. John - you are always so quick to respond to our concerns and questions. Glad to hear that the percentages may be returning soon.

Dadfsr

Question-I keep thinking back to the red tail hawk kamikaze attack on the NJ nest and wondering...is that the first time that's actually been documented? I seem to recall that there is no love lost between birds of prey but is that kind of attack typical?

I know I could probably do some research too but thought I'd toss it out there anyway...

Mavis

8:11 AM EDT

Good Morning ALL...Doug, beamg..everyone els

I almost hesitated this morning about tuning in. So many negative posts yesterday just puts such a damper on things. I do not understand the need to complain as much as some people do. I do NOT complain...I just communicate sometimes...that's different! :) You know...it is ok to say "I like Tom and Jerry because....."....but SOME of the remarks ...totally uncalled for..rude..and nasty IMO!! One poster is truly showing his trolling ability...and still Aloca enables his right to post. I honestly don't understand why Alcoa even bothers. Difficult to work so hard to GIVE such a gift to people and than get SLAPPED by some of these remarks..AND then to turn the cheek and keep on giving! THey got more of the "good stuff" in them than I do!! Some say they are corporate...you know...bricks and stone stuff..I SAY they are people..people with hearts and feelings. People with families and regular folks like us.

Sunday is Easter, I hope a lot a people do their once a year duty and go to church and maybe..just maybe LISTEN..and actually let a little peace and love into their hearts. Like one poster said..a little HARMONY would be swell. AND...some of these do-gooders need to do as they say!

I bit my tongue a lot yesterday...didn't want to get thrown off here by really letting go. You can talk about me...but you talk about the fine folks that give us this gift..YOU GOT MY ATTENTION!

Ok..I said what I wanted to say..now vote...AL and Coa look good to me! IMO!

Judith Hart

Coffeechug, Food for yesterday
10:36am 1 fish
10:50am 1 fish
4:52pm 1 fish
5:16pm 1 fish

Coffeechugbooks

Judith, you rock! Thanks so much.

Judith Hart

I read an article yesterday, about how the gizzard shads die off. It has something to do with the weather. Has anyone noticed many dead fish along the rivers's edge? If so it's the Gizzard shad. This could be why the eagles are bringing the fish in so quickly.

I'll try to find the article again .

Judith Hart
Mavis

Doug...one of the things about that red tailed fight that amazed me..you know that hawk had to come in with a little speed...meaning the force the eagle took standing still had to be up there. The display of the eagles wings stunned me...they looked so powerful. Never saw much of the hawk..don't think it even lived past the first strike...that was like instant death.

I thought the eagles mate might have been flying in the background but wasn't sure. What worries me more are the crows. I'm afraid one will aggravate and draw attention while a second one does a bad deed. So far no evidence of that. I always need something to worry about.

Camilla Collins

nooooooooooooooooooooo!! ;)

Dadfsr

AARRGGHHH....the cam just went offline!!!!

Mavis

Judy, that was a good find..the article on gizzard shad. I just hope our three from last year are near by and enjoying the feast.

LynnieG

What's with the yellow circle with the plus sign, root?

Mavis

While the cam is off....go vote!

Catherine

Mr. John - Every now and then I am seeing a curser on the screen. It appears as a yellow circle with a plus sign in it. A dialog box also appeared and I could see that it asked for the user name and password. Could see the username and of course the typical dots for the password entered.

Judith Hart

Was that another fish at 9:13 est

Skip

I watched both parents feed the babies. That was so precious! I also watched a green dot come across, and the camera was being adjusted and it looked like photos were being taken while both parents were feeding. I seen the same thing Catherine seen. This is all truly amazing! I look forward to seeing the babies everyday! Happy Easter to everyone!

Catherine

Great research Judith - you are such a resource for all of us.

Mavis

Does anyone have the video Cherrycarol was referring to last night? The local news about the eagles?

beamg

What a shot just now - re-organizing the food stuff and those precious ealgets watching and trying to get to dad. I think they grew a bunch overnight! Fur is flying and a PS too!

Guess I better pull myself away from here and get busy getting ready for Easter. Happy viewing everyone! Gorgeous day for it:)

Camilla Collins

So nice to see a calm and sunny morning for the nest. :D

Christine

Anyone have a link to the video of the hawk attacking the eagle nest? Found one on youtube, but it's a 3-parter, wasn't sure it was the same one you all were talking about?

Doug Felix

Christine-if it's from the Hillsborough, NJ eagle nest cam then that's it. There were three parts of the video. The first one was posted someplace here and the other two were below the first one when you clicked on the link.

Mavis

10:30 am EDT

Al and Coa love playing out from under Liberty. They are becoming little explorers and having a good time. What's not to like..fish, fish, everywhere!

Little AL finally made it to the top of the nest bowl with big Coa right behind him. He scooted over and nudged up under Mom's wing. I think he might be getting a little chilled as he seems to like it there. The cardio workouts will be coming soon as it will not be long before they are wandering all over the nest ...and we will be hollering at them to get back from the edge!

Doug Felix

I was watching as she seemed to really go to work on fluffing the nest up. It now looks like there is not as much of a "bowl"-is this the start of the flattening out of the nest so that the kids can get around better? Speaking of which-they are on opposite sides of the nest right now and look like they're enjoying the separation time in sun.

Christine

The videos are all really long. Which part is the actual attack on?

Judith Hart

I found it again ....Red Tailed Hawk Eagle Attack
http://598075.xobor.com/t90f30-DUKE-FARMS-BALD-EAGLE-NEST-HILLSBOROUGH-NJ.html

Doug Felix

The actual attack was on the first one in the first minute, IIRC that first video was about 15 long-and not much of that time was spent doing nothing by the male eagle because the feathers would keep flying every once in awhile...

Christine

Thank you!

Karen

is there somewhere we can see which names are receiving the most votes?

beamg

Time for a break and had to peek in. Looks like that littlest one is going to be trouble! On the edge of the nest bowl and full of energy while the older one is hiding his head and streching out one of his clown feet. Just too cute!

Doug Felix

Karen-Mr John said that they had not done anything to change the voting parameters since yesterday when a bar graph was showed how the results were turning out after each vote. They are using Survey Monkey to do the name contest and think that SM may changed something...

ColleenM

@ 11:30, Is that the little one wondering around? Won't be long until we see those nerve wracking moments with the little one's looking over the side of the nest!! In my opinion, these two are far more braver than last years triplets!! It's so good to see them getting bigger and thriving. Justice @ 11:30, just brought a fish delivery. Doesn't look like a very big one. Such a great site, both parents in the nest now.

Doug Felix

That was interesting-Justice just came in with a small fish. Looked like he was going to maybe work on it but Liberty grabbed it from him and put it on the other side of the nest.

Had refresh screen and lost the next few moments...Justice is now hogging the camera again.

nanapeg

OK...I'm hearing chirps, geese and other sounds but why am I not hearing J when he appears to be calling out???

ColleenM

I think it's Liberty on the branch giving us a close up! The older sibling is trying to get up from the nest bowl! Looks like it has allot of straw covering it! Spoke too soon, now he's up! And bonking has commenced! LOL

beamg

Colleen, I think it's Justice on the branch. Liberty took off after grabbing the small fish from Justice. Yup, bonking and me saying stop that!

Catherine

I also think it's Justice on the branch.

Doug Felix

OH oh oh....heart stopped....

nanapeg

I think maybe Dad had better turn around and see what his little darlings are up to!
OK, all better.

beamg

Doug is that the first time your heart stopped? Mine almost did and I gasped and said "that little stinker is getting out!"

Doug Felix

I think it was the young one that just decided to out and check out the rabbit feet....seemed too close to the edge to me....but Hey! NWZ!!!!

nanapeg

Oh yeah, that's good...just show them HOW to get to the edge! REALLY???

beamg

nanapeg, I think dad heard you and got right down there!

Doug, I forgot....NWZ! Thanks for that reminder.

Break over - back to Easter prep! :)

Doug Felix

I'm thinking about just assigning a nondescriptive tag for each little one until this naming nonsense is done (after all it us humans naming a free flying bird of prey that will hopefully never hear the name spoken in their presence!!).

How about using just "e1" and "e2" for the next few days?? Much easier to type and the naysayers that think using names from the list will somehow affect the name game results may be mollified to hopefully post on here again...

So IF you see an "e1" I'll be referring to the oldest eaglet and "e2" will be the same corresponding for the younger chick....

I do work around chemist so this kind of tag is about as non-biased as anything they might use in their testing.

So YES e2 had my heart skip a beat then!!!

darrareynolds@tomballisd.net

My Kindergarten class would really like to vote for the eaglets names. We cannot figure out how to vote. Please help us! Could you please send a weblink and instructions on how we can vote? Thank you very much!

darrareynolds@tomballisd.net

aquadro95

I declare, I just saw 3 eaglets!!

Doug Felix

darrareynolds-if you have found this page then you should also be able to vote!! Open up another browser window, go to the live cam window and the voting area should show directly under the live cam window.

aquadro95

is there a mod at this site, I thought sure I saw e little bobble heads!!

Doug Felix

Nah aquadro95...they're just moving around so fast that you think you're seeing three ;)

.... giving us cardio workouts while doing it too!!!

NWZ!!!

aquadro95

okay ty lol, as you can see I got all excited thinking I had seen 3..by the way I cannot figure out this chat system

Doug Felix

Looks like you're doing fine on the comments-I wouldn't really call it a "chat" even though it gets that way sometimes ;)

Doug Felix

darrareynolds-did you get the voting figured out??

Mavis

Doug..E1 and E2 is the method used for a long time and E.R. used it in her post yesterday. I'm sure that will be the easier and less confusing way to ID the babies. Actually, Al and Coa were assigned for temp names and was surprised to see them make the list. They were not assigned as a campaign for them...but hey...it sort of caught on. Whatever names are selected...the names are for us..not them as you said. Names are convenient for us. When someone mentions Phoenix or Challenger or Harmon...we know which eagle they are talking about and certain emotions are tied to each one. Whatever names are chosen are fine by me...and they will become as dear as Spirit, Hope, and Faith.

I wonder...just maybe Justice and Liberty have their own names for each other. Wouldn't it be awesome if we knew the answers to some of the stupidest thoughts? I have so many questions I would love to ask my pups.

Doug Felix

OK-I've been slurping on my Ramen long enough now...it's time for me to get back to work.

Hope the rest of you all can hold the fort down! Just remember NWZ!!!!

Doug Felix

Mavis-so you're telling me that what I thought was an original Doug thought had already been used??? Figures-that's me...a day late and dollar short!

Justice is "talking" to something/someone.....yes we need an "eagle whisperer"!!!!

Later! NWZ!!!

Judith Hart

They must be working on the voting, sometimes you have to refresh a couple times for it to show up.....

Food brought into the nest today
7:18am 1 fish Gizzard Shad
9:13am 1 fish
10:30am 1 fish

Mavis

Doug...you crack me up!! Isn't it nice to know that you think on the same level as the BEST? Even I didn't come up with E1 or E2..above my pay grade! Decorah still name their eaglets they way..E1 thru ? I think E14. So, Doug...you are "cool"!

Judith Hart

Has anyone checked the Sutton Center nest?
Out of 4 chicks, 2 are left, I just looked, the oldest, I think, is now attacking the 2nd one, aggressively and constant. The M/D was just off the nest.
Read the comments and the updates.
http://www.suttoncenter.org/pages/live_eagle_camera

Ruth MacLeod

JUstice seems to be enjoying his time on the nest by being on the edge looking around. Fed both and then got back on bowl, but off again soon. Fed one as the other continued to sleep until just before the cam needed to be refreshed and it had also gotten up for a couple of bites. It must not have been hungry to sleep so long through a feeding.

Betty Happel

I watch as often as I pass my computer at home. The eaglets are addictive. I worry though,,, I mostly see Mom feeding the older/or bigger one. Does she seem to feed them equally.

Mavis

Betty H...can't you tell how much both have grown? Both have to be over a pound and a half by now. Almost everyone posts that both are fed..one more than the other at some feedings...but both are fed and fed well. We are over the hump of one not being fed...so you are now in the "NWZ..no worry zone".

Dadfsr

I love it when Justice looks square at the camera and cocks his head a little to the side as if to say " Hey, quit watching me I'm doing just fine!"

Catherine

e2 was really giving it to e1 when they first got up. Once e1 bonked e2, e2 went straight into submission.

Catherine

Liberty in with another little fish. Justice just left. Liberty is feeding them fish. Well, one of them is being fed now but I sure the other will get some soon.

Judith Hart

2:47pm EST Liberty just brought another fish in.... feeding Coa now, Justice took off. Al's standing back until Coa fills her face! Al moved up into feeding position and is now eating and eating well.

ColleenM

@ 3:21, observing more time for the babies to get some sun! One was using the other for a pillow! The little one looks tired! The sights and sounds looks like it could be a warm weather day! Parent keeping close watch!

nanapeg

Just checked Colleen, it's up to 50 degrees! Absolutely balmy!!!! I haven't stuck my head out the door yet, but it sounds like there is very little wind. Hope this weather lasts for a few days.
