ColleenM

Hope we get to see more before it gets dark..what a great day!

JAM

There's another little bald eagle in the world tonight! Fly high little one!

Greta in Kansas

The baby's moving, right? Tell me it's moving....

ColleenM

@ Greta, yes it is

Dadfsr

It's just resting....at least I keep telling myself that! Getting out of that shell couldn't have been easy!!

"Pumpkin"

Liberty just repositioned herself and I saw the two halves of the empty shell and a little grey fuzzball that's all dried out. Yes Greta, the eaglet is moving!

kristel

I just saw !! Tried to get a photo but was too excited. Half way out of the shell!

Ruth MacLeod

Don't miss going back to the previous thread to see a video view of the new babe.

Greta in Kansas

thanks, Colleen & Dad & Pumpkin! Just new-parent nerves, I guess! LOL!

kristel

Little gray furball! So cute, so exciting! Welcome to the world little one!

EaglesOnly

Anyone else audio sound like static? I even checked my speakers. It's too consistent.

Camilla Collins

We will have to see who the winner/winners are of our first egg hatch list. Are we going with 6:43pm or 7:05pm? (Sunday, March 16th)

Camilla Collins

That noise you hear... BIRDS! It is crazy :D

ColleenM

@ Greta, I think we're in for more of those nerve wracking moments, just like last year!! LOL. The storms, the predators, it was ALL exciting...

Carolyn

here is video of hatchling out at 5:42pm CDT.
Happy days!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUdl5Ndhe2k

Cristine

Yes, I think the static you hear is all of those birds, settling down for the night. It is deafening!

Dadfsr

Got another good look...it was almost like Liberty heard us and stood back for a few seconds. The little fellow is definitely moving!!!

ColleenM

Does anyone remember when she tosses the shell out? I can't remember. The baby is definitely out, and moving!

Sherry

awww ... I just got a good look at that cute baby!

Camilla Collins

Baby eagle is upside down and on its back faceup up. Black part touching egg is the beak and almond shaped eye is closed.

Mindy Gibson Frey

Yippee!!!! A new fuzzball to take up all my time! Cant wait for #2! Guess I know what I will be doing for the next 3 months! Glad my kids are old enough now to fix themselves their own supper!!! Welcome to the world little baby!!!

Cherrycarol

I was wondering the same thing Colleen. I don't remember. Carol

Catherine

Thanks Carolyn and Camilla for the great pictures and videos. So glad you were able to capture this momentous event.

beamg

YEA, WE HAVE A HATCH :)

The Winners of the 1st Hatch Prediction:
Pumpkin
Judy
beamg
Dadfsr: time 1515

I realize I made a time mistake in a previous post. I said 4:42 CDT and it should have been 5:42 CDT. Excitement got me!

Jo Ann

Congrats on picking the correct date for the 1st hatch! Now the fun or shall we say excitement begins!! :)

Colleen M

Awesome!! Thanks for the "zoom" John!!

Mike

Camera is zoomed to close its blurry .. Could see it better be4

Dadfsr

Hear, hear for Mr John!!! Loved the zoom then!!!

Camilla Collins

poorer quality pic as it gets dark. baby still upside down in pic but he is on its belly.

https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/269200_548131125218549_420831631_n.jpg

beamg

Fantastic Zoom! Thanks Alcoa and Mr. John!

Maike

Thank god for the internet, so I can watch this from germany!
Maike

Dadfsr

Ooh no!!! All I've got is the spinning ball :(

Camilla Collins

did we break the cam feed?

Cristine

Yikes! What happened to the live feed?

Jane

9pm Milford MI - can't get video to work, is there a problem?? Really wanted to see the chick, been watching for several weeks, I'm disappointed.

Jane

Cristine

That is wonderful, Maike! Did you get to see the live hatch?

Camilla Collins

Jane, we are probably out of luck for the cam coming back on tonight. But if you go back through this thread and start at the end of the last one you will see some good pics and a few youtube videos.

I'll repeat my best shot here...
Baby eagle is upside down and on its back faceup up. Black part touching egg is the beak and almond shaped eye is closed.

Cheryl Bartlett

I do not know where my comment will post - i have been over on the other site and watching the video and now posting as I viewed the youtube video of the hatchiing (post 15). The baby was hatched at exactly 5:41...I have never been exactly at the right place and at the right place before to see something so very exciting! Carolyn, I am so glad you posted that.

I have to giggle at us....we are like an extended family all giddily looking through the nursery window!

This is so much fun! Thank you Alcoa for giving this opportunity to bond with nature and each other through this miraculous event!

Cheryl Bartlett

Great shot Camilla on post 20!!

Cheryl Bartlett

The circle thingy - I got it this afternoon - but it went away after about 15 minutes. I am wondering if all of our noses pressed against the nursery window has jammed the feed?? ;-)

Cheryl Bartlett

By the way - welcome Maike!! I wonder how wide spread our family is now?

Cristine

You may be right, Cheryl! I wonder just how many people were watching? Anybody know?

Greta in Kansas

Well, I guess we weren't going to see too much now that it's dark, anyway. Hope it's back up/unjammed tomorrow!

I want to add my thanks to Alcoa & Mr. John & Co. for this wonderful experience.

And welcome, Maike, from Germany! Or I should say, Wilkommen!

John Riches

I am still connecting with several different devices and able to see the feed. I'm not sure why some of you are not seeing the feed. You might try refreshing or restarting your browser or computer.

RodJ

I've tried a few things John. No feed for me.

beamg

I've tried a reboot with no luck. Will try again after this post.

I'm so glad we got to see what we did today. Alcoa's 1st eaglet of 2013! What a day :)

Jo Ann

Mr. John, I'm still getting the spinning circle even after I refresh. Thanks for checking up on all of us , though. I don't think too many of us are getting the live feed. Thanks Mr. John for all you do.

A Facebook User

We got to see it hatch. How amazing!!!!

Judith Hart

I'm getting the feed fine on the ipad, nothing on the computer.

Judith Hart

Liberty , I think, asleep with her head tucked under her wing. Just heard little Al let out a little peep.

JC

Just FYI Mr John...spinning circle reported from my sources in FL,GA,AL,IL,IA,MI and a few others. Refresh, reboot, close out and start over but still no live feed.
Thanks to you and Alcoa for having it up during the day...there were a lot of us who got to see the pip and then the hatch and then the baby Eaglet...another memory inspired by Nature and provided by Alcoa.

Judith Hart

Liberty just woke up...preening herself a bit, back to sleep.

Judith Hart

She's awake again, a little chin preening, I think she's getting ready for the press pictures tomorrow... nap again.

EaglesOnly

Judith - is the ipad on your router or 4g? None of my devices will bring up the feed but they are all working off my router. Haven't tried my phone yet.

Judith Hart

She's up again, changing position on the nest....little one let out a squeal, she may have stepped on him. He's fine she tucked him in and he let out a few more peeps. Liberty's napping again, every so often you can hear him peep.

joefromnc

Judith..Thanks for the play by play account since a lot of us can't see it. Could you be a little more descriptive with your commentary and make some cricket sounds also. You could add some baby Eaglet peeping sounds to get us more excited too.
Anxiously awaiting your next report !

Judith Hart

I guess ipad is working off the wireless router. My internet was out the entire day today, so the ipad didn't work either.
I'm beginning to think all these problems stem from all the recent updates.

E. R.

Liberty best get as much sleep in now as she can. With the next 2-3 months of manning the chow line for these two eaglets, sleep is in short supply. I forgot how tiny they are at first. When you see them next to mama, you know what a great feat it is to grow from this stage to a full grown eagle. Welcome to the brave new world little eaglets.

EaglesOnly

Thank you...and thank you for being our view into the nest tonight. It's appreciated!

A friend lives 45 minutes from me, has different internet provider and her feed is working fine. But all of us with problems do not have the same provider. It's puzzling.

Judith Hart

Uh Joe...Forget the cricket sounds...last few weeks I've developed something that starts tinit..something or other...all I hear are crickets in my head.

Judith Hart

I'm with CenturyLink

Sally Glowicki

Congrats Pumpkin, Judy, beamg and Dadfsr...you are winners of picking the times of hatch! Thanks Carolyn & Camilla for the pics & video. And, we would not forget the wonderful people at Alcoa for all the work they have putin making this all possible. We look forward to an exciting few months now. Get your rest L & J. You are great Eagles!!!

Judith Hart

My router is Linksys

Sheila

I was able to get some great video and snapshots of the egg as it was hatching. It is on my facebook. It is so fascinating to me watching the eagles. Thanks Alcoa

Lucille Bingham

Carolyn, Thanks so much for posting this great video of the momentous event! I missed it and it was so nice to be able to see it on your video capture!
All of us Eagleholics thank you, Mr. John & the Alcoa Staff, for providing this wonderful opportunity to view one of Mother Nature's best events!
You are the best!!!

Valerie

Don't feel bad Eagle watchers, I can't seem to connect either, and I never have problems. I'm in GA. I did however get to see little pee-wee come into the world. Good night, and will hope that I can connect to the cam in the morning.

EagesOnly

Mine is linksys also. But your Ipad is working. Neither of my Pcs will bring up the feed nor will my kindle. Odd.

Judith Hart

Eaglesonly...your Kindle should work if my ipad does..my pcs won't bring it up, spinning thingy

EaglesOnly

Judith -- nope it does the spinning circle too. I'm on it now. I'm going to try shutting it completely down and then see what happens.

Mavis

11:40 PM EDT

I absolutly CANNOT believe this. Of all the times I have said something (and I usually don't have a problem), I am told the problem is at my end because some people get a good feed. NOW I GET A FEED AND YOU DON'T!! GO FIGURE!!

I am picking up on my iPad thru internet router...no problem. So I guess all these times I''ve had a problem...just maybe it wasn't at my end. I don't know but I do know..ALL DAY YESTERDAY...the ONLY way I could pick up on iPad was thru an app called Skyfire. Tonight, I am picking up with Chrome browser.

I do NOT have cellular on my Ipad...only WiFi and my COMPUTER WILL NOT pick up the feed.

Every since the HP updates a couple of days ago...computer has been in extra slow mode but could still pick up feed. Now it doesn't and my iPad , using the same WiFi source, is picking up the feed using Chrome.

This is 5 paygrades above my head.

Liberty doing fine..sleeping with head tucked behind her and seems content. Fish is same place as before and not touched yet.

Mavis

Oh...I am guess that fish is a Shad...anyone want to gander a guess?

Mavis

11;58 PM EDT

Awwwwh! Liberty just repostitioned and I could see AL sitting under her and heard a few peeps. Such a sweetie...Liberty put her head under her a few times to make sure he was ok then ever so gently settled back down on her precious wee one.

Sarah

What an exciting day! I'm glad my own kids are "out of the nest" or they would think me "cuckoo" for being glued to the feed all day! But when is Spring going to arrive? They look so cold...can we get a heat lamp on the nest? Glad I'm not the only one finding true joy in this event! Thank you so much John and Alcoa!!!! (My iPad is connecting but not my computer- they use the same router. Go figure.)

Cristine

Mavis... You may be on to something with the HP updates. It seems as if I lost my live feed shortly after my computer updated earlier tonight. Coincidence?

Rich Swanson

Ok, back from my star party. Just picked up where I left off, but I have the spinning circle thingy. I get the video on my Ipad, but all my windows devices do not.

I hope everyone had the chance while I was out to check out the great vids I caucht during the hatching on the FB group.

By my calculations, first indication of the pip was at 8:07, and the "final product" was noted at 6:04. This is of course based on the videos I have. That's 9 hours and 57 minutes. Does this sound about right?

Rich Swanson

I just rebooted my Windows devices and I am still unable to get video on them.

Rich Swanson

Checking in at 1:00 am. I assume Lib is on the nest. Sleeping fine. No chirping coming from the nest, but I can hear the hispanic station in the background.

Perhaps the eaglets will develop a taste for fish tacos. :)

barbara kane

i cannot run the live video , it just has a circle in the middle that keeps going round and round. had no problem last year and this year cannot get it to view..what am i doing worng.

Laurie C.

I'm not getting the stream on my PC but am able to on my iPhone. I see the PC feed uses Flash but Flash doesn't work on iPhones, iPads, etc. (thanks to Steve Jobs, may he rest in peace) so I'd say that the iDevices get a non-Flash feed that is still working fine but computers are getting a Flash feed that isn't working. But that's just supposition, and I have no solution for that other than use your iDevices for now. :-/

Rich Swanson

Laurie, I see a pattern here. It appears you are right, something has happened to the flash stream. I have no idea what it could be though. I do know that things started going badly as the hatch progressed. I personally lost contact with this comment board, and video became choppy as the number of viewers obviously climbed.

Laurie C.

Just for grins, I can report that I do not (and have never) heard a radio station on my feed.

Mavis

Cristine...my computer updated a couple of days ago..been so slow ever since that I use my iPad to post. I can type a 5 letter word and it takes the computer several seconds to enter the letters. So frustrating. I still can't use the computer EXCEPT...I kept a good feed on computer and iPad all day until tonight. Now just the ipad works. It is probably like Laurie C suggested...idevices do not work with flash player.

Been an exciting day...it's like we all just gained a new family member.

Mavis

3:13 am EDT March 17th St. Patrick's Day!

Final check on nest. Liberty sleeping. I know L and J are pleased to have the little arrive and is now tucked away safely for the night.

Good night all...

beamg

Whew! What an exciting day yesterday!

My video feed seems to going pretty good this morning although it's too dark yet to really see anything clearly. I am SO glad we all got to see as much as we did and have proof positive that we had a hatch yesterday. WOOO HOOOO! Congrats to Liberty and Justice!

Did anyone see Justice some to the nest? I tried the reboot last evening and nothing worked. I have to say I just sat here in awe watching the hatch and every little glimpse I could get of our new fuzzball!

Just for fun, I went back and read all the comments from early yesterday when we were all positive there was a pip. If you have time, I would recommend doing that. I could feel the excitement all over again and it just kept building all day!

Now, let find the "LIST" for today. brb

beamg

Working on list but distracted by calling out at the nest! Still can't see much - too dark.

I think both L & J are in the nest. Come on daylight, I can't see very well.

EaglesOnly

I can view the live feed this morning from my Kindle. Hope all is ok.now,, whatever the problem was.

Still dark on the nest but I can see Lib checking on the eaglet and could hear it peeping a few times. She called out to Just once then settled back down on the nest. I"m waiting for a feeding,.

beamg

Ok, guess I spoke too soon about my video feed. I just had to refresh the window open for the cam and it's not going anywhere. Gosh, I hope this straightens out soon. We have to be able to see for the 2nd hatch!

Mr. John, I have to tell you: I was so impressed that you were tuned in yesterday and watching with us! But, how could you NOT be tuned in? What excitement! And frustration for you, too, trying to figure out our problem.

Ok, I hit refresh again and now have the feed back. Who said "talons crossed"...that's what I have now! Back to that list....

beamg

Prediction List for 2nd hatch:
Mavis
Ruth MacLeod
Pumpkin
EaglesOnly

Predictions for 1st hatch today(sorry):
Annette K 10:15pdt
Kathryn Mellecker
Sally Glowicki
Cheryl Bartlett 12am - 12pm

And, of course, California JC in the "Smarty Pants" category! I guess YOU were a winner yesterday too! Sorry I forgot in the excitement to add you...

Please let me know if I made any mistakes here. YEA, it's getting lighter :)

beamg

Good morning everyone! And Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Honking geese, Liberty waking up, train going through, I swear I heard a ROBIN! And I still have not seen one at my house!

Get ready everyone. Gonna be a great day!

Ki

These probably won't get considered, but how about Smith and Wesson? America can be a very violent country. :)

Mindy Gibson Frey

Yep... I got the spinny circle too. So sad... I really want to get a glimpse of Ally... and hopefully Coa-Coa if he/she makes his/her appearance today. CRAP-A-DOODLE!

Colleen M

Good Morning! Happy St. Patricks's Day. Couldn't wait to open my window to our little Eagle family. I take it we're awaiting number 2? My camera feed was down as well.

beamg

Mindy and Colleen, I hate to comment and jinx things, but my "feed" is good so far. Sometimes I have to hit refresh twice to get it working again. Keep trying:)

OH THERE HE IS AGAIN!

Colleen M

I see! Missed if we have 2 yet though.. ;( So far, my feed is good as well.

Mindy Gibson Frey

Morning beamg and Colleen! Just as I typed I had no feed, I went and tried again and it worked! Just got a peek at little Al/Ally. LOVE ME SOME FUZZY BABY!!! Happy St. Patty's Day everyone.

judie

Since I am not on Facebook, I would like to use this blog to suggest the name Clover for one of the new eaglets, because a clover is typically a sign of good luck, especially near St. Patricks day, and because a clover is a gift from Mother Nature as is this precious baby eagle. Namaste, little one.

beamg

Colleen, still waiting for #2 to arrive!

Colleen M

Gotcha beamg! Thought so, but just wanted to make sure.

beamg

I hear Justice off-nest. He's on guard!

Rich Swanson

5:45 here in Arizona. Mornin' all. Who remembers the second egg laying date? Just wondering what day we were on for incubation. The eagles probably wish it would happen soon. Trying not to crush the newbie while having to still incubate the other.....Gotta be tough.
