9:25 PM PDT. Mr. John. Isn't this past your bed time? 11:36 .I thought I would check in to say nitey nite to L/J. It sounds quiet now. Hope the rain is over after the deluge today. Loved your pictures, Mr. John. We appreciate your efforts to keep us all happy.
Good Night & thanks again to you & Alcoa.

Camilla Collins

4:45 am EST

Nest is quiet and Liberty is sleeping. Lightly raining.

Barbara Freiberg

I love it when you post things to keep us informed on what is going on with this nest. Thank you,

beamg

Soggy is the first word that comes to mind this morning!

THEN I saw your new pics MR. JOHN and it put a smile on my face! Sure was the fix for "grumpy" I needed today! Thank you! Are a couple of those pictures of great blue herons? When I saw the picture of the tree I wondered where you found sunshine yesterday but then read you took them Firday. LOVE THEM ALL!

SNOW at the nest! Well, it's going to be an interesting day for sure!

Pumpkin, did you make it over here from the last thread?

Mavis

8:56 AM EDT 11 March

Hey Pumpkin..last year, when the babies were about 3 or 4 weeks old...the WHOLE WALL was a weak spot !! It was a full time job of hollering, and hitting the computer screen to get their attention to keep them in the nest! Never a day past without at least one near faint spell and cardio workout!! Are you ready for it to start all over again? YES!!!

Was unusal to see Justice in the nest for such a long period with Liberty. I think they are both getting excited for what they know will soon happen. Thursday will be day 35 for egg #1. Because of the "cooling" egg #1 got, some of us are predicting Friday as first hatch day. It won't be long.

Mavis

UNUSUAL...see..I can spell it! Not unusal!!

"Pumpkin"

Yes Bea, I finally caught on! AND Judith, I really depend on you to give me those NEW THREAD ALERTS!

In any event, here are a copy & paste of the two posts I made on the old thread this morning at about 6:30 & 6:45 AM CDT:

"Liberty's still sitting on the eggs in 8 o'clock position, but Justice joined her about 5 minutes ago. He's hanging out on the SSW corner, also known as the weak spot in the nest to last year's eagle watchers.
Good morning early birds!"

"After hanging around the nest for around 15 minutes, Justice just took off again. Apparently Liberty isn't ready for a break yet and the poor guy's having a hard time figuring it all out!"

Looks like I may be in for some senior moments today!

beamg

Mavis, I read your typo the way you meant it and it didn't even register it was a typo until you corrected yourself! Did you see the snow flakes earlier? I don't see them now but they were there.

We have flood warnings here in Iowa, especially for the Cedar River near Conesville, IA. The river is at 12.4' and flood stage is 13'. All that run off that could have done the ground so much good but the water can't sink in.

Let's pray for some sun so we don't have to look at such a soggy mess, at the nest and elsewhere!

Mavis

Beamg, someone posted on Nesters Nest a video of the water rising at Decorah. I think it was Chuck. Anyway,...I'm going there now to check it out. It was pretty high in the video...and that was yesterday!

I wonder if Sherri made it back from her trip to NY. She had to have driven through some rain on her way home. Looks like everything up your way is pretty well wet.

Pumpkin, did you say you were close to the nest too? Can't remember...but it looks like everything up there is soaked (except the ground under the ice as beamg said).

Kathryn's got the soup on if I know her...she's always ready for the weather!

Jo Ann

Thank you Mr. John Rich for the updates and photos. It's great to see where Justice is sitting on his tall perch. Hunker down, all, it sounds like a wonderful warm-up is coming. I do know you could use the rain. I was in Iowa last summer, and I never saw the corn so dry that it actually looked burned.

beamg

Judith, thanks for the report even though it does not look good. The good ol' Wapsi, seems to always flood and is uaually first. I'm south of there but know that area very well.

Oh, both are on the nest and checking the eggs. I have to get stuff done to be ready for the hatch! The first guess I recorded is for the 14th by Ruth!

Mavis, I'll check that out later. Thanks! A friend pointed out that I'm overwhelmed and I believe she's right! I need to hurry up and get things accomplished on my TO DO list!

Jo Ann, you sure saw the corn at it's worst!

Keep watching and posting everyone for those of us who are procrastinators and yet don't want to miss a thing! :)

Kathryn Mellecker

Things are going fine at the nest. Glad to see the new pictures, Mr John. Great as always. Mavis, I am sorry to say, no soup. Although I need some, have a head cold. Maybe I'll fix some ramen noodles. Yes, that sounds good.

Judith Hart

Beamg,
I forgot to give my predictions for the hatch, I'll beat Ruth by a day and say the 13th Wednesday, for the first egg...the 15th Friday for the second egg.

Annette Kryske

KATHRYN: My recipe for getting rid of head colds: I Pkge. of Liptons Chicken Noodle soup (with or without chicken) 5 cups water, sliced carrot, hunk celery, onion piece or 2, squirt of soy sauce. You will be over your cold in a day or two.IT WORKS:P>S> I will send you my bill,in the morning!!!!Hope you feel better.
Liberty is doing her thing at 8:32 PDT.
Don't forget folks. My dates are March 17 March
20th First Day of Spring.

beamg

Ok, got your predictions Judith! You're on my list. And Annette you're down too. I would never forget you:)

If anyone else wants to give their predictions, you better hurry! Time is running out:) YIKES! Later today I'll try to post the list I have so stay tuned. Kind of reminds me of Christmas: making a list and checking it twice.

Ok, end of my "break" and time to get out from under everything that's overwhelming me. So far, I've crossed 4 things off and I'm feeling better about it.
BBL

beamg

One more thing...I just looked out my window and it's lightly snowing! What? I'm thinking of canceling my weather channel thingy that told me to expect dry conditions over the next 6 hours!

Pumpkin, I forgot, glad you made it to the new thread.
And Kathryn, hope you feel better soon!

beamg

I just happened to see both L & J on the nest. Someone mentioned today is day 35 since the 1st egg was laid. Do they know how to count after all? Do they know something we are not aware of yet? Excitement and anticipation are mounting!

Rich Swanson

Seems the word is out about being day 35.....Notice the number of viewers is 400+

Kathryn Mellecker

Thanks everyone, I had my ramen noodles, and Annette, when I feel more like doing anything I will try your chicken soup. Sounds really good.

Both L and J look wet and miserable, I do hope this clears up soon. Now that I've checked the important things (eagles) I guess I'll go back to bed and feel sorry for myself!

Camilla Collins

They were both in the nest from 11:51 - 12:17. Liberty had words with Justice a few time right when he arrived. I thought she was upset he was standing on her feathers. Maybe she was saying go away!

Justice did dry out quite a bit during his stay. The wind drying his feathers.

Ruth MacLeod

First egg laid on Feb. 7 so if my math is correct this should be day 32.

Mavis

beamg...did I say today was day 35? I thought I said Thrusday, the 14th...I may have mistyped. I guess day 36...Friday the 15th because of the 'cooling' egg one got. If it was me...sorry....I did KNOW better!

Rich Swanson

My bad also. I am at work and i just perpetuated the wrong day. I am such a luser!

beamg

Ruth you're right! Whew!

Rich, this is a teaching moment for you. Where do we look to see number of viewers? 400+ I looked everywhere and I'm not finding it.

Rich Swanson

Beamg...At the bottom of the video window there is a red box that says live. Directly to the right of that is the number of viewers. I will say that it isn't always there though. It just happens to be there now on my screen.

Rich Swanson

AAARRRGGHHHH! I've put out bogus information! I'm no longer considered reliable!! Rats!!!

beamg

Not fair! It's not on my screen! Anybody else see what Rich is seeing? Guess I'll have to stay tuned and pay more attention:)

beamg

Bogus huh! Well, we can't shoot ya!

Annette Kryske

11:30 AM PDT. Today is Day 33.According to my calculation. !!!Thanks Beamg for reminding me you have my dates. I knew you did, but I thought I would check in again, just to be a pain in the rear. I wish I could send some of our beautiful weather to our little friends.I really down't like hearing the howling winds that are blowing there. I know they are used to all kinds of weather. Lunch time. Egg salad sandwiches, on 7 Grain Bread, Salsa &white corn chips, Cranberry Juice.

John Nield

As long as the 1st and last letters are correct, most typos are not are caught.

Ruth MacLeod

Came on about 3:15 EDT and both were on the nest again. Shortly the one on the eggs flew off and the other covered the eggs. The wind is blowing hard, but I think I can see the white spot so it must be Liberty on now. At least the wind has gotten her dried off. Sun out now in NW Iowa so hope it gets to eastern Iowa so it doesn't snow.

Ruth MacLeod

May be wrong on who is on the nest. Now I don't seem to see the dark spot.

California JC

Here is my prediction and I am 100% sure I will be right. The date for the 1st egg, in the day that the eaglet inside the first egg poke through the egg shell. The date for the 2nd hatch will be after the the 1st hatch. Listen to the wind, make me chill sitting CA

Rich Swanson

Thank you Liberty for showing us that it is you on the nest right now.

"Pumpkin"

Am I seeing snow blowing sideways or do I need to clean my screen?

Rich Swanson

Dang it... Wrong twice in one day!!!! Obviously J is on the nest. I need to stop posting on nearly no sleep in 48 hours.

Camilla Collins

Ack! High winds and snow! It is rocking the nest. nice to see that Liberty(?) was able to get dried off.

Rich Swanson

I would say that I see snow also,,,,,But I've been doing so well today.

Mavis

4:21 EDT

John N. ..
"As long as the 1st and last letters are correct, most typos are not are caught."

Just my kind of thinking!!

Rich...if you work at one of those highly secret, "if I tell you I'll have to kill ya" kind of places...well..in sticking to nice words so I won't get thrown out of here...YOU NEED TO GO HOME!!

Rich Swanson

Mavis...I only have 1.5 hours to go, but more importantly, I am worried that one of my dogs may pass away while I'm not there. No sleep is because she has been having problems with what we believe to be collapsing trachia. Causes her to go into bad hacking fits while she sleeps. Since the wife is in Hawaii, there is no one there to watch her. Hopefully everything will be ok when I get home.

Mavis

4:35 EDT

I don't know if those are huge rain drops or snow...but it is blowing horizonally across the nest. Justice is not affected by it and seems to be enjoying his nest time.

Justice has sure hung around today,...you can sense what is coming. Someone said they can "feel" the eaglet scratching from inside the shell...which makes sense. THey will begin to stock pile the nest with food in the next day or two in order to be ready for the big event!

"Pumpkin"

If you're a member of Facebook, Alcoa has posted the following message on their FB page within the last half hour:

"Starting today we will begin taking your ideas for names for the two eaglets about to hatch in the Alcoa nest. This year is Alcoa’s 125th anniversary. We would certainly welcome names that reflect our long history of innovation, diversity and sustainability. Simply REPLY TO THIS POST with your ideas for names. We look forward to seeing what you come up with**! After we get your suggestions, we will pick some of the best and create an online poll about a week after the hatching for people to vote for the final names."

Cherrycarol

NEW THREAD. YEA IT US A MIXTURE OF SNOW & RAIN. SO SICK OF THIS CRAP!!

Mavis

RIch...that is so sad. I don't know how you can keep your mind on anything with the worry you must feel. I just lost my precious AJ a few weeks ago so I know your fear and your dread for what may come. The pain from such a loss...there are no words to describe. I AM SORRY for what you and your friend are going through.

Rich Swanson

Thanks Mavis, If it weren't for these bouts she is having, you would never know that we have had her for 13 years, and she was probably a year old when we got her. She's has a great life. I just don't want her to suffer cause I can see that every time she has an episode, she is scared.
