Wow! What a great set of pictures. Thank you for letting us see what Glory and Honor see. I really appreciate how you, Mr. John, and Alcoa are always thinking of us out here. Thank you.

Diannwilliams94

Thank you very much for the pics around the nest. But the best is the picture of the eagle in flight. How awesome they are. They are truly majestic and beautiful. I always look forward to your pics. The babies are getting so big so fast. Nature waits for nobody! Again, thanks to you and Alcoa.

Cherrycarol

Love all your photos. Thanks Mr John. I was at The Captains Table for lunch & they aren't open til next Monday for lunch. So I saw all these guys on the river today. I love watching the pelicans too. What a beautiful day it is today!!

Annette Kryske

2:23PM PDT. I was just looking at Glory & Honor, sitting on the edge looking out on the horizon. Are they ready for their din din yet???I haven't seen L or J today, but I am sure fom the pictures Mr.John showed us they are nearby. Your picure taking is just great,& we do appreciate them Mr. John, and also both Carols, and the rest of you who show us your pictures and videos.
Keep up the good work.

Jackie S. Hamburg, NY

Thank you very much for the pictures of 'the neigbors' :)

ER

Enjoyed the pictures Mr John. It is a busy neighborhood at the nest. There is lots to keep them entertained. They seem to be sort of waiting around for Mom or dad to show up with the chow. Not too much exercise to get slimmed down for flight. Liberty will have to give them a crash course in flight soon. Have noticed her sitting with them looking out over the river often. I wonder if she is giving them some instructions on all those things that eagles know.

Judith Hart

Fantastic pictures! I've never seen a white pelican before. It looks like the geese are swimming around in the parking lot.
Thanks Mr. John

Jo

WOW! Thanks for the scenic pics Mr. John! Liberty and Justice sure are majestic while in flight! Thanks for all you've done and continue to do for us Eagle watchers. You're the BEST!!

sandy

thank you for the pictures you posted, Mr. John. quite a bit of wildlife around the nest. the eaglets are getting so BIG!!! too soon, they will be leaving the nest. hope the water goes down soon. thank you again for the pictures, especially either Liberty or Justice in flight.

beamg

After a busy day thought I'd see what's going on and what a treat I got. Awesome pictures Mr. John! See, that's why I wish I had Glory's and Honor's view!!! I need to get myself to the river.....soon! I don't remember ever seeing a white pelican either so that's my favorite, next to L or J.

Some serious wingersizing and a couple times I thought they'd go over the edge! But I can't look away either. I love this view especially at this stage of their growth. Some things last year were questionable with the view that cam gave us. Should be a different story this year. Well, I guess G & H got tired since they're laying down and I'm pretty sure their heads are hanging over the edge so they can watch the wild life. Turned out to be such a nice day today!

Have a good night eagleholics.

Cherrycarol

Good Morning everyone. Looks like they r still sleeping. going to be hot today 89. ugg!! it will be miserable in the nest. have a good day everyone. carol

Cherrycarol

Mom brought breakfast in & they were fighting over it. When she stil had ahold of it. Then she said I'm outta here. & off she went!!

beamg

Good morning Carol and anyone else tuning in this morning!

Carol I missed that fight over the food you described! They must have been really hungry and I don't blame mom for taking off. Looks like they are still eating or at least one of them is. I also see those little sparrows in and out with one brave enough to go up to the edge of the nest. Good thing mom brought in better food for them.

I just came in from having my coffee outside and it feels wonderful outside right now. I actually felt safe leaving a couple flower pots out overnight and I'm really hoping we have seen the last of any frost warnings until fall.

Wooooooooo Wooooooooo! Eastbound train! If only we could hear the sounds at the nest.....

Mavis

Glad to hear the train again, Beamg. Thanks for the whistle.

Been watching the nest this morning. They are getting close to being ready for branching. I remember Spirit was the first to branch last year on Memorial Day.

Nice pictures, Mr. John. Does Alcoa make small alum boats too? Looks like you could have used one!

Annette Kryske

6:50 AM PDT. Good Morning Glory & Honor, & whoever in the forced air unit in my house.!! I can hear your chirping ,but not H/G's. Funny Beamg., I still don't hear the train whistle, but the little ones in the nest are getting sooo big. I love all the marking on their feathers. Have a few appts., so will have to sign off now, but will be back. Looks like Glory is gorging herself with something yummy in the nest..

chris whitworth

We can't see the little ones will there be a nother camra up higher to see the babies? Chris

beamg

Annette, good luck with your appts. today. I hear that train when it goes through my town and when it's headed east I like to think it's headed to the nest area since I just west of it. Seems we all miss the sounds, even the trains, so I like to throw in the whistle sound every once in a while. You're welcome, Mavis! :)

Chris, the camera and view we have now is what we are going to have until the nest is no longer active for the year and Alcoa will again be allowed to access the cam that looks down into the nest. As I've said before, I love this view for this time in their lives so we can see lift off when they get it and eventually the branching and fledging. I'm positive the branching will be viewable this year better than last year when it happened off camera so many times.

That blue sky today sure makes a beautiful sight behind the eaglets! Only see one of them right now so the other must be hanging off the opposite edge. Wow, one brave sparrow is hopping all around the top edge of the nest! bbl

Skip

Thanks for pictures John. They look great. The babies are getting so big! My gooness! I am enjoying watching the eaglets from this angle.

Skip

Mama is feeding her babies! AEWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!

Linda Card

and a small bird, maybe a wren or sparrow has built its nest in the side of the big nest. it just took bedding out of the big nest and disappeared into a hole on the side facing the camera. (about 8 to 10 inches below the lip of the nest left of center) How cool !

beamg

Skip, I'm so glad you like this view too! We can really tell how big they are at this angle.

Linda Card, aren't those little birds (sparrows?) brave? Took bedding right out of the big nest? Wow!

So glad it's a calmer day after those very windy days we had over the weekend. Now if G & H want to wingersize maybe we won't freak too much. They seem pretty content at the moment to just look out at the world.

R L ML

What a good picture today with the clear blue sky again. Both are just looking out with their backs toward me, but with the pictures posted yesterday I can imagine them looking at all the other birds flying and floating around.
All 3 birds pictured are ones I never saw until I was an older adult. They are all magnificent birds. I especially like the pelicans. They look so graceful when flying, but it is another story when they come in for a landing on the water.
Honor and Glory have their beaks open when they turn their heads so must be quite warm there. Just heard the noon news from Sioux City and it was 102 there. Cooler more normal weather predicted for the rest of the week.

Jo

Tuned in just in time to see Mom (Liberty?) actually feeding Glory and Honor! Haven't seen her doing that in a long time...she usually just drops off "stuff" and they chow down by themselves.

Less windy today although they are panting a lot so it must be hotter up there than we think it is. Sun is shining and there's not much shade so I'm sure they're hot.

It is so good seeing them almost as a family unit again because most of the time I've been watching it's only Glory and Honor in the nest. Would love to see Dad (Justice?) come in, too, so I could see the whole family together, however, with as big as those chicks are, I can imagine it would be rather crowded in the nest, even as big as that nest is!

I've been meaning to ask this for a long time and keep forgetting...the live stream only stays on for about 10 - 13 minutes at a time before I have to click on the arrow again. Is that normal or is it something that has to do with only my computer? Anyone know? Thanks ahead of time for your responses!

R L ML

Yes, Jo you have the same live stream as all of the rest of us. This has been the way it is done this year. Too many people were just going on and leaving it on all day. Now if you want to watch longer than the 10 to 15 minutes you have to refresh. I saw the adult do a little feeding too. They must not have been very hungry as soon both were watching the adult eat and not even reaching out for any.
The adult really stayed around for a long time (4 cam refreshes before I had to leave). They all seemed to huddle on the left side of the nest. The view must have been especially good in that direction.

R L ML

Jo hope you were watching as I just saw all four there. Tuned in again about a half hour after post 24 and adult was still there. They were all 3 looking up and the other adult flew in. Within a minute both L and J flew off. H or G really flapped around and looked like it might follow, but stopped on the edge of the nest.

Jo

AW NUTS!! I missed it! I left right after I'd posted and didn't get back to the computer until just now. All I can see is one eaglet behind the leafy branch on the left of the nest.

Thanks for your response R L ML, I thought maybe my computer might be acting up and that was the reason I kept having to refresh. Hey, it's understandable...people leaving up the feed all day long LOL I would, too! But I have things that must get done. Otherwise, I'd be sitting here all day long 'cause I don't want to miss a thing these gorgeous creatures do!

I'll check back again later, perhaps I'll get to see more!

Jo

WOO HOO, checked the view again right after I'd posted and one of the P's is in the nest again and they're chowing down on something. Hope the other P arrives soon...I'll watch for a little while longer.

Jo Ann

Mama is there, looking down. Are both babies still in the nest?

Jo Ann

Maybe mama is just eating. Sometimes, it's hard to tell. I'm hoping both babies are still in the nest. I'm not ready for them to go, yet.

Jo

As far as I can tell, Jo Ann, both Glory and Honor are still in the nest.

Cherrycarol

Looks like lunch was brought in. Bothe eating with mom or dad there. It is HOT!! 90 Has to be awful in the nest. :(

beamg

Yes, it's hot today and I can imagine it's worse for the eagles. I'd like to know where those inbetween temps are....you know, 75 or 80. Oh well, can't change it so I do hope the temps are more "normal" after today.

Wind has picked up, too. And the eaglets are once again on the other side of the nest. I'm so jealous of their view! They are doing fine, just gazing out there. I missed all the times they ate today. Maybe I'll see it tomorrow.

Anita

I hadn't watched in a while (as I thought there was nothing TO watch), but just saw the new cam today. I know it's not as detailed as the "spycam" but I have to say - with the sun at the current angle (6:55 local time), the silhouettes are simply amazing.

Anita

p.s. Wow, is that nest rocking!

Annette Kryske

KUDOS, AND DOUBLE KUDOS TO DARLENE NICHOLS & HER MOTHER. For solving the problem of my little bird chirping these last two weeks. We could have sworn the bird was in the attic and the sounds were coming from all the vents. Darlene's Mom had the same problem, and everyone was going nuts trying to figure out what was happening.Whoever thought to check the Smoke Alarm" was the genius. Thank you Darlene. I was going to put up with this for one more week and then try to call in someone to help. I owe you one Darlene. You made this lady very happy, and relieved it wasn't a bird.I even called a Bird Lady of Santa Monica , whose name was Robin, heard the chirping today and she said it was a red headed finch.Blame it on our Eagles, that caused us to go nuts. THANKS AGAIN DARLENE YOU SAVED THE DAY.Beamg,I know you heard what we were going through, just thought I would add to this site. The sound appeared to come from all the the vents, and it actually came from one, the smoke alarm. It boggle our minds. We will definitely sleep well tonight.

Jo

LOL Annette I feel for you! I'm a recent hearing aid recipient and had the same problem you had! With my hearing aids in, I could hear the "chirp" but with them out, I couldn't hear it. Sooo, I took them out and left them out until I could get my neighbor over here to see if he could figure out what it was. Who'd'a thunk it was a smoke alarm! It's enough to drive a person nuts! Glad you got it figured out!

beamg

Annette, I hope you are still sleeping soundly at this moment after solving that chirping problem. Oh my, smoke detector! That is hilarious! I even told my husband what you were going through. We kind of thought you would for sure find a bird's nest somewhere that it shouldn't be. I'm still laughing. Oh my dear, I'm so relieved for you!

Good morning everyone! This has to be the earliest I've been at the nest in a long time. It's 5:30am CDT and getting light at the nest with Glory and Honor awake already too. There is a slight breeze and it's much cooler at 67°. Wow, they are doing their wingersizing already too! I better get some coffee.

Cherrycarol

Good morning all! Annette I'm glad u figured out your chirps. O My who would have thought. Going to be a little cooler. One is pruning itself & the other must be sleeping. Love the picture in the morning. Have a great day everyone! Carol

Cherrycarol

Breakfast was just brought. L or J is still feeding them. The laying down one got up fast!!

beamg

Shoot, I missed that feeding too! Guess I'm just not here at the right times. I'm trying to get a bedroom painted and it's not going very fast. I could sit here all day and watch Glory and Honor but life keeps getting in the way! Plus, I get distracted by the birds in my yard too. Saw the hummingbird again yesterday after not seeing it for days.

It's going to be a beautiful day today! Back up to about 80 but that's at least 10 degrees cooler than yesterday - much better for this time of year! Both G & H are gazing out at the world again and I marvel at their markings when they spread their wings and stretch - such gorgeous birds!

Ok, back to my painting. Happy viewing everyone!

Judith Hart

Just saw that gutsy little sparrow, in the nest with the eaglets, stealing nesting materials.

beamg

Hi Judith! They are gutsy aren't they?

OH OH OH one of the eaglets just lifted a turtle up! No idea if it's the whole turtle or just a shell but so cool! Anyone else see it? I couldn't even get a screen shot it was so fast!

beamg

Just checking back in and see mom is in the nest. I saw her black head spot! Looks to me like they ALL like that other side of the nest - they're all looking in the same direction! She might have brought in food. I saw her and one of the eaglets eating together.

R L ML

Came on and saw Liberty on the right and H and G pecking on something on the left. They exchanged places and Liberty was eating something and one of the youngsters came over for a couple bites. Later Liberty moved something pretty big to the middle of the nest. Possibly the turtle shell Judith mentioned.

ER

Good Morning all, 11:47AM CDT Checked in on the Eaglets look out the other side of the nest when suddenly that sparrow that lives down stairs decided to hop up on the edge of the nest. One eaglets turns to see who was making the noise and Sparrow jumps down to the lower part of nest. A few minutes later she is back up there and this time hops down into the bowl. The same eaglet turned to watch a few seconds then flat out ignored her and went back to watching the river. I guess Glory and Honor have to decided to co-exist with the sparrows at least for now. Who knew so much activity was going on in the lower parts of that nest.

Jo

Hi all, Hope you're all having a wonderful day watching the eagles! I know I am! I've decided to name that sparrow (or whatever it is) that's always hopping up to the nest to steal nesting materials. Her/His name is now Fearless! LOL because he/she sure is!

Nice to see the co-existence in the nest. Also nice to see that Glory and Honor no longer bonk each other even though I've seen them fighting over the same bite of food. I guess that's natural, though, because all siblings fuss and fight.

Everyone have a great day...nothing new to report from me 'cause Glory and Honor are just sitting there gazing off into space again.

Cherrycarol

Jo that's a cute name for the sparrow. I went over to see them today. They were standing on the edge of the nest. I'll be over there when they start to branch & fly for sure. Carol

Jo Ann

If anyone has a camera, please take a picture at this moment, the two are so close together they actually form a heart.

beamg

Jo Ann, I wish I had seen that...I would have gotten a screen shot! How sweet!

I've never checked the nest this late since getting our new temporary cam. Sure is dark! Can't see a thing. Guess I'll call it a day. Night all.

beamg

Jo, almost forgot. Fearless....great name for that sparrow!

R L ML

beamg Was on last night and could see the moon. When I enlarged the picture I could make out a few limbs and leaves and could tell that the wind was still pretty strong.

Jo

Aww, Jo Ann, I missed seeing that, too. Bet it would have made a really nice photo! I hate it that I can't sit here all day LOL I guess that's the sign of either I'm an eagleholic, or I really, really need to get a life!

I'm glad you all are keeping up the comment line 'cause that's how I catch up. Thanks! And, as ever, thanks to Mr. John for all he does, too!

Judith Hart

I wonder what those white things are at the lower left of the picture. They appear then disappear....they look like flying saucers then turn into mushrooms....then gone....weird! I took a screen shot of them.

Cherrycarol

Good Morning. Looks like they r waiting for breakfast. About 60 now not too bad but up to 82 again. I work today so I'll check back later. Have a great day everyone. Carol

beamg

Carol, you have a great day too! It's a beautiful morning and I'm sorry you have to work.

Judith, space ships turning into mushrooms? I'd like to see THAT screen shot!

Both Glory and Honor are awake and I think Carol is right that they are waiting for breakfast. At least I haven't seen them eat yet but might have missed it when I went outside with my coffee. I'm hoping to see that turtle shell picked up again and maybe get a screen shot of it. Seems I'm never ready for it when something like that happens!

Well, it's quiet at the nest so I better get on with my day too. Still painting and it's a slow process for me. Have a glorious day everyone and keep up the postings and happenings. Like Jo, that's how I catch up too on what's happened and I love reading all of it! bbl

beamg

OT.......
Here's the news on cicadas many have been dreading:

http://www.foxnews.com/science/2013/05/16/cicadas-east-coast-march/?intcmp=features

ALCOA NEST...Back at the nest, it looks like an overcast day today. Should keep that heat in check a bit. We'll see what happens later. There is one lone eaglet standing and staring while the other stretches up a wing once in a while.

AND OT AGAIN....Here is an interesting link, about the Robin egg, etc. in case anyone watching one of the nests is interested:

http://www.foxnews.com/science/2013/05/16/cicadas-east-coast-march/?intcmp=features

My robin pair is staying close to the nest but I can't tell what's going on IN the nest. I'm just guessing based on the last couple of days that we have at least 2 eggs and maybe 3 by now. My tree has filled out so much I can't see it from my kitchen window anymore. :( But I can get pretty close and this morning saw mom on a branch right next to the nest.

Ok, I feel like I'm talking to myself again so back to painting!

beamg

Well pooh, my second link on the previous post is not what I meant! Let's try again:

http://www.learner.org/jnorth/tm/robin/EggstraEggstra.html

No wonder I feel like Im talking to myself, nobody can figure out what I'm talking about! Hee Hee Hee! It's the paint fumes. :)

Jo

LOL yep, Beamg, blame it on the paint fumes! :) And, it truly MIGHT be! ROFL Thanks for the links!

Other than that nest is rocking like a cradle, nothing much happening except Glory or Honor is leaning against the upright branch on the right...can't tell which chick it is 'cause one's laying down and I can only tell when they're side by side...keeps eyeing that low branch next to it on the right side of the nest with an expression on it's face as if to say, "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can...but I ain't gonna try it just yet!" LOL

Fearless must be tending to her nest, too, 'cause I haven't seen her yet either. Just another lazy, and beautiful, day at the nest!

Hope all are having a wonderful day!

Annette Kryske

:05 PM PDT. Final chapter of my Bird in the Vents. I just spoke to the Bird Lady of Santa Monica Ca., and told her the wonderful news about the Red headed Finch in the
attic or in the forced air unit, that she thought would Fledge & fly away. She was on the Highway coming back from Monterey, and was laughing so hard that people driving past her thought she was nuts. She couldn't believe it was the smoke alarm, as she too heard the bird sounds, now she thinks she & I are nuts, & so was Leon. Maybe we were. I did read her Darlene's comment, and she really choked up.It was a funny time, and we enjoyed visiting on the phone. She will remember to tell people to check the smoke alarm, and believe me so will I. Thank y'all for being so helpful and understanding. LOL ♥

Cherrycarol

LOL Annette!! It's still 80 out. Pretty warm for Honor & Glory. Just sitting there watching the world going by.

Darlene Nichols

Sounds like she was a good sport about the whole episode, Annettte.........glad it was resolved without having to tear your house up, too ! Now you need a new adventure...

beamg

Annette, thanks for sharing your story! I know I got a huge laugh out of when it was solved and sounds like the bird lady did too. We all need a good laugh now and then and you have a story to tell!

It's 7:17pm CDT and it's beautiful out! Still 81 but doesn't feel hot. G and H are just standing in the nest, looking big. The leaves are moving just a bit so it seems very peaceful.

Think I'll go sit outside for a while and just watch the world. Have a good night all.

Jo Ann

I like the new camera. I think it is a beautiful new look at the lives of our favorite eagles. I love how pretty it looks in the morning and the evening.

Jo Ann

Beamg, what are you painting?

Annette Kryske

Thanks Darlene, and all for he support you gave me, now I can relax and think about what I have planned for you all in the next week or so. Nothing like this I am sure!HAVE A GRAT EVENING YOU EAGLEHOLICS. LOL! <3

Annette Kryske

Boy, all I had with din din was one glass of wine, and I didn't preview the above message, and my typos are bad. Can you believe I was a worked for a a lawyer & was a good typist, now I still can't adjust to the computer keyboard. Must be my young age causing this. Good evening again.

beamg

What a beautiful sky tonight. Pretty blue with a few white fluffy clouds. Great backdrop for the eaglets!

Jo Ann, I'm painting a bedroom, long overdue. It has been pepto bismal pink ever since we moved in 21 years ago. Flat paint too yet so it's impossible to wash and have it look better. It's going to be a blue/green to bring out one of the colors in the quilt my mom made for me. I hurt tonight but made good progress today.

Annette, don't worry too much about the typos. I think most people can read right over them and it all makes sense. I've made some horrid typos! :)

Does the picture seem just a little out of focus? Oh, could be my eyes but thought I'd ask. I'm going to call it a night now. SEDs!

Jo

EEWW Pepto bismal pink! The blue/green sounds much prettier! Sorry you're hurting, pray you feel much better tomorrow!

Anyone needing a "new adventure," http://www.yecleagles.com/ has three eggs about to hatch, one with a big pip in it. Just thought I'd let everyone know.

G'night all, hope tomorrow is bright and beautiful for everyone and our eagle family.

beamg

Good morning everyone. Just getting here finally after big computer and internet problems. What a pain!

I see 1 eaglet standing on the left side of the nest. The other must be laying down. Very quiet at the nest, only a leaf moving once in a while. Oh, just now I see "Fearless" right below where the eaglet is standing but now he/she is gone.

I better get on with my day. Happy Friday everyone.

Annette Kryske

8:30 AM PDT. Good Morning America!! Looks like a beautiful day in Alcoa land. I too, only see one little guy sitting looking things over. Probably saying to himself"Should I try to fly today?" I am not sure where his little sibling is. Resting??.See little guys checking the nest out below....L/J just flew in and out in just one minute, now both Glory & Honor are checking things over the side.Today is bowling day, so will check up on things this afternoon.

R L ML

Came on and one was self feeding and the other looking out over the river. Soon it joined the other in the nest and both were self-feeding.

beamg

At 11:25am CDT, 1 parent in the nest with G & H and all 3 are eating. Kind of a jerky cam feed today but maybe that's my computer. All I've managed to do yet today is work on our 2 computers and now feel like throwing them both out the window! BUT, how would I see the nest then? Better keep them and try to get them working better. All 3 are still eating with the adult very tuned in to the sky. Not sure what's up there flying around and I can't tell which adult is there.

R L ML

Saw the last part of that feeding Beamg. Mostly just the adult eating at that point. I kept hoping that their looking up might mean that the other adult might appear but no such luck. When L or J flew off the one sitting on the edge had to duck to keep from being hit.

Darlene Nichols

I have come to love the view this camera gives us........initially that wasn't the case and I thought Alcoa went to a lot of trouble for little reward.........I was so WRONG.......the color contrasts are so dramatic and seeing the babes at this stage in their development is more meaningful from this angle.....I'm anxiously waiting for branching and fledging. Thank you Alcoa for trouble and expense you went to make it possible for us to continue to watch

beamg

Darlene, I agree 100%! I've seen a little bit of liftoff with the wingersizing and expect any time there will be branching, just not quite there yet.

R L ML, how's the weather in yur corner of Iowa? It's 76 here right now and feels perfect!

G & H continue to stand there and look at the world. Once in a while I see big birds fly past in the background and wonder what they are...canadian geese? Egrets? Liberty? Justice? Pelicans? Great blue herons? So many things it could be and I just can't tell as they usually fly too fast to get a good look.

Ok, on with my day although I'd rather just sit here and watch. bbl

Jo

Good morning all! Or rather, it's morning for me but afternoon for you all. Glory and Honor are perching on the edge of the nest right now, I believe Glory's favorite side of the nest is to the right next to that branch that looks low enough to get to, and Glory is still doing that, "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can" looking at it.

I think it's Glory standing there because that Eaglet is still bigger than the other and I can only tell that when they're both standing side by side like that. And Honor is still a little shaky while perching on the sticks at the edge of the nest.

Both gaze about and down, like they're seeing really interesting things below, and after seeing Mr. John's pictures, they probably are! I, too, see "fliers" off in the distance but they're so far away you can't really tell what they are.

I haven't seen Liberty or Justice and no feeding yet, today, so they must be full, lazy and content because they haven't even been wingercising, although Glory keeps peering at that limb...soon!

The video feed is rather jerky today, with short stops and starts, and since someone else mentioned that, it's nice to know it's not just my computer!

I haven't seen Fearless either, so he/she must be sitting eggs! My time is pretty limited today so I'm going to go check out the other nest I've been keeping an eye on and see if any of those eggs have hatched while I was gone.

Y'all have a great day at Alcoa Land!

beamg

Jo, just checked the link you gave yesterday. There is one baby peeking our from mom already! I haven't seen mom move yet to see what's under her. Does she have 1 or 2 more eggs to hatch?

Cherrycarol

3:00 feeding. Looks like mom is eating most of it.

Cherrycarol

H OR G DID FINALLY EAT WITH MOM WHILE THE OTHER JUST WATCHED THE RIVER GO BY. THEN A Lot of wingersizing & hopping going on!!

Jo

Beamg she has 3 eggs altogether and one hatched, one has a pip and one not ready yet.

Cherrycarol

Looks like Justice brought in dinner. & he's feeding them.

Judith Hart

Glory ? Is doing a great job of securing a fish with her talons and eating it....M/D just flew in....they still prefer to be fed by them.....Honor ? in the back, feeding himself.

Judith Hart

One of the eaglets has a white crescent shape high in the throat area, the other has it lower in the chest....I haven't seen them close together to tell who's who yet.

Judith Hart

Fearless and friends have been in and out of the nest several times, looks like they're pilfering scraps of food... behind the eaglets back. The eaglets turn around, watch them and ignore them.

Jo

Had a busy day today so I didn't make it to the nest while it was still light enough to see. So, Thanks Y'all for the updates. Sweet Eagle Dreams to all! G'night

Judith Hart

A storm is heading toward the nest area now...

7:30 AM EDT May 19th

L or J just brought something in for breakfast. Could not tell what it was but it seemed to have feathers and red meat. Hope they hurry with breakfast because Judith said a big storm is approaching the nest and should be there within the hour. I just looked and high (really high) winds coming with the storm. Hope they hunker down and don't try any jumping exercises during the high winds. I noticed they love to stand on the nest wall edge and I stay in fear that one of them will 'drop' off the side. G and H are getting stronger now with their wings and true air lifts and branching are just around the corner for these two. This cam angle will be nice for when that happens.

A big thank you to Laurie C for sharing the link of Dr. Sharpe banding the eaglets in CA. He is such a pleasure to watch...and the banding was interesting too. Thank you, Laurie.

Good Morning everyone! Mr. John...hope you can stay in and not have to worry about the approaching storm. That would be a rarity for you, wouldn't it?

Mavis

Oophs...I see from Judith's report that hail is predicted for the nest area too. That is not good. Remember the Decorah nest last year during a rain/hail storm? All the jumping around the trio did ....like a rain dance! They got so bad that mom had to leave the nest to keep from being knocked out by the eaglets. Hail hitting our babies is not an easy thing to watch and I hope they hunker down good.

Good Morning: Lots of hopping & wingersizing going on with one of them This one seems to do it a lot more than the other. Dad (I think) flew in but not sure if he had anything. Didn't stay long. Which one one do u guys think it is standing & hopping the most? Glory or Honor? I don't get to watch that much to know. Weather is awful. Feels like 100% humidity. I hope we don't get hail. Doing book work & watching this morning. My salon is suppose to get painted today. But it might not now. :(

Good morning everyone.

I missed the whole day at the nest yesterday. Oh dear, we're going to have storms today. Carol, I thought the same thing about the humidity - very high and everything is "sticky" feeling. I'm having a lot of storm noise at my house but not much rain so far.

Judith, I hope we don't get that hail, especially with the size they are saying it could be! Radar looks to me like heavy rain should be hitting the nest very soon.

One eaglet is up and looking around while the other is hanging off the opposite edge. The one I can see doesn't even look wet and the leaves are barely moving.

Staying tuned in for while now to see what happens unless the weather gets ugly at my house. Starting to rain harder now so I better check my windows, etc. Stay down low eaglets - it's coming!

Dad brought another fish @ 8 am

Cherrycarol

Dad showed them how to get up on the y branch. They were both watching. The one on the left has 2 white spots on it's chest ( like Judith said). Now if we can just figure who is who??

beamg

Carol, I just missed that! Had to make sure windows were closed as the rain started coming down harder. I think your salon painting won't happen if it's outside painting. I was suppose to plant flower pots on our Main street today and it looks like that won't happen either today!

I'm glad at least one of the parents are with Glory and Honor right now. Oh, he just flew off! Both G & H are up and maybe finishing eating.

Cherrycarol

It is outside painting. Yea I don't think it will be a good day even if it does,t rain

Mavis

Cherry...do you think it is the big one or the little one that is doing most of the jumping and flapping of the wings? Just trying to get your neck on the chopping block...not mine!

I watched early this morning. One parent on the nest and those "big babies" are still wanting the parent to feed them. And, he was. Some poor creature was being ripped to shreds to satisfy their appetites. Mine in Louisiana are soaring very high in the sunshine and only return to the nest in the evening now.

Laurie C.

You're welcome Mavis. It's not something you get to see everyday.

Jo

Wow, is that nest ever rocking! Three in the nest this morning but none are doing anything except hunkering down and looking around. Sure hope it doesn't hail, that would not be fun to watch happening to the babes. Wondering if L & J would be in the nest with them if that happened and if they'd to the Mombrella and Poptent thing if they are? Probably not because they're no longer "little guys" anymore. I guess this is just something they have to get used to, but I'm hoping L & J do stay in the nest with them to weather out the storm.

I don't see Fearless and any of her friends, either. Guess that means they're also snuggled in for the time being in hopes to make it through the coming storm. At least they'll be a little more protected being IN the nest rather than ON the nest.

I won't be able to watch until later either so I'm hoping they'll all be ok. Thanks to all for their updates!

What a joy to see what's going on in the nest again! For some unknown reason, I had lost my Adobe Flash and wasn't able to get the live-streaming of the new camera. Just this week I was able to re-install it, after having to install Google Chrome as my browser. So frustrating. Thank you all for your continued comments so I could keep up with the happenings in the nest. Glad I haven't missed the branching. I have wonderful memories of Faith, Hope and little Spirit from last year, and how exciting and a little bit frightening it was!
Glad to see a parent in the nest right now. A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Rock Island County until 12:45. Yikes!

Help please. Mavis mentioned a link showing banding of eagles in Calif by Dr. Sharpe. I thought her post was dated today 5/19/13, but now I'm not sure. I also think she said Laurie gave her the info. I should have mde better notes!! I went back through Friday's post but couldn't find anything. If anyone can help me I would appreciate it. Thank you.

As always, I am enjoying this nest. Alcoa and Mr. John are such gracious hosts. I agree with other posters that this view has turned out to be a good one. When the lets are this old it's not so important to see inside the nest.

Have a good rest of your weekend.

Sandy in Omaha
