What beautiful pictures Mr. John. It was a beautiful day out for taking pictures. Happy Memorial Day to you & everyone else. Looks like a lot of rain this week end. :( This is when we used to take our boat out on the Mississippi. Love boating & sure miss it. Carol

Judith Hart

The spinner has returned....anyone else have it?

John L.

Beautiful twilight shot.

Annette Kryske

6:47 AM PDT. Good Morning America! Looks like a cloudy windy day in Alcoa Land. Thank you Mr. John for the beautiful pictures. It sure looks like maybe today could be the day I predicted either Glory or Honor will take flight.(I hope). , and then we will start all over with Liberty & Justice, and go through the ritual of waiting for the next eggs to be layed, etc, etc. That is the beauty of all this for us eagleholics, isn't it?But,hopefully we we will have SOUND to go with the beautiful picture cam.We did miss that this year!! Again, I want to thank you Mr.John & Alcoa for making this all possible. Have a Wonderful Memorial Weekend.

Cristine

I had the spinning circle for a while, too, Judith. Now I have a picture that pauses constantly. Oh well at least I can see the babies this morning. They are sitting together staring over the left side of the nest right now, watching something interesting. It's starting to rumble here, and it looks like according to the radar we are all going to get very wet soon!

Darlene Nichols

I too have the spinning circle of death.....the picture I get is frozen.......Cristine apparently is experiencing the same thing......anyone else?

Jo Ann

I have had the spinning circle, but, when I refresh the page, once or twice, the spinning circle stops. Happy Memorial Day one and all and a big thank you to all who have ever served in the Military; past or present. Take care eagleholics and hope the weather doesn't get too bad for our babies.

Leonard Geifman

Honor and Glory watch Liberty and Justice take flight after they visit the nest with food. It looks like they turn to each other and say, "How do they do that?"

Nancy

These are amazing photos! Thanks so much!

Cherrycarol

I can't believe it has rained ALL DAY!! I had to work anyway!! Poor babies r soaked.

Mavis

6:26 PM EDT MAY 25TH

I have tried all day and cannot access the cam with my iPad. Was hoping Honor would branch today.

Hope everyone enjoys the holiday weekend and stays safe. I also hope everyone will take a moment to remember why we celebrate Memorial Day. I enjoy my freedom and cannot imagine what it would be like to not be free. My gratitude to everyone who served so I can feel safe in my home.

John L.

I'm a bit unhappy to think that the young ones may be branching this w/e, and we will be missing it.

John riches

John L, I'm not sure why you will miss it unless you can't get to a computer to check on our eaglets. The video feed seems to be fine.

Cherrycarol

MORE RAIN & THUNDER! ENOUGH ALREADY!! JOHN L. WE WILL BE ABLE TO SEE OUR EAGLETS BRANCH A LOT BETTER WITH THEW CAM WHERE IT IS NOW. CAROL

beamg

Good morning everyone. Another very soggy day for us in the Alcoa area!

Carol, I agree - enough already! I emptied 1.8" out of the rain gauge last night. No idea how much we got overnight but I'm pretty sure it rained most of the night. Hope you had an awesome b-day yesterday Carol!

I'm getting a very good picture this morning and can see the eaglets aren't doing much - one standing and the other laying down.

Time to get ready for church. Have a great day everyone. And a great Momorial Day too, remembering our military heroes past and present. I have a feeling our small town service will not be at the cemetery but at the school. That's too bad but at least it won't be canceled. Thank you veterans and all current military for protcting our freedoms and our country! God Bless America!

John L.

Guess there's something wrong on my end. Live feed will not load. Hasn't since late Thursday. I've refreshed, and reloaded link to no avail. Other eagle live feeds are just fine such as MN,Yukon, and the Alcoa Ospreys. Any ideas? I'm fresh out.(and bummed)

John riches

John L, I'm not sure what to tell you. The feed is fine so the problem is at your end in some fashion. I hope you can figure it out.

Annette Kryske

8:10 AM PDT. Good Morning America. Looks like Liberty or Justice is eating voraciously, and Glory & Honor are waiting for a nibble or two.We just finished our healthy breakfast, now am relaxing watching our little ones, hoping ( in a way) to see them go on out their own. Though we really will miss them, and pray they will be fine.Just as we think of "what is happening with last years Faith,Hope & Spirit(Peewee)?"Have gotten so attached to this family, and some of you people also.L/J,just left the nest.A little Wingersizing going on now.Have a Great Day!

Jo Ann

Mr. John, There seemed to be a spinning circle a lot of the time yesterday, but, today it is much better. I thought it was U-stream, because I went on Decorah and it was the same. It is much better today. Hope everyone has a great Memorial Day Weekend. God Bless All the Troops and God Bless our little eagle family. A lot of wing-stretching going on. Thanks, Mr. John for keeping this going. We are all enjoying watching these two.

Cherrycarol

Poor things r getting drenched! It's coming down pretty good again. :(

Mavis

1:43 PM EDT...

John L. What you described can happen at times. When it does...you can often get the feed back by closing your browser completely. Not just the tab you are on...but back everything out...close all the tabs. THEN...try to bring up the page again. DO NOT use a short cut if you have one. Do it the long way. That usually works. Sometimes, another browser may have to be used. I can't explain why that happens once in a while or why these directions work...but they usually do. Good luck!

Good morning...err...afternoon Mr. John. Hope you have a peaceful and nice Memorial Day.

Cherrycarol

The one on the left is way down. I wonder if it's on a branch? Can hardly see Honor I'm guessing.

Cherrycarol

I just pulled up a picture of the tree I took & it looks like there is a stick sticking out of the nest where the one on the left is. I'll post it on OT.

Jo

Hi all,

I just tuned in to find one of the eaglets sitting far far to the left of the branch on something that didn't looke like it was part of the nest! Then, it started to flap away like crazy and "lifted off" to land/sit kind of sideways, looks like it might have only been about maybe a half foot up, but it was still up on the larger branch that goes straight up on the left side of the nest.

It sat there for about 20 seconds before flapping away again with several "lift off's" and landed back in the nest to lay down with the other eaglet. Sure looks like whichever one it is is actually getting OFF the nest portion and onto branches!

Too bad the other eaglet was laying down in the nest because I couldn't tell which one it was that actually got out of the "nest proper" but one of them has done it! And I can't believe I actually got to see it! Woo Hoo!!

They're both laying low in the nest now so I guess the "show" is over for the time being...but I will be watching to see if it happens again.

Annette Kryske

12:22 PM PDT> Carol, the wind is blowing pretty hard right now, and I saw some feathers blowing in the wind. Looks like both Glory & Honor are hunkering down,to avoid it.
Hope you had a nice Birthday, and I love your new profile pic.

Cherrycarol

Thanks Annette. Dads on the nest now for a visit.

Cherrycarol

It's getting dark again. More rain??

Jo

Nice birthday cake Carol! And you look absolutely stunning in this picture! Hope your day was extra special!

Very windy in the nest but both eaglets are standing and swaying in the wind with the nest.

It does look rather gloomy and like it's going to rain any minute now. But on a good note, the bugs seem to be gone! I'm glad 'cause they seemed to bother the eagles awfully bad!

Cherrycarol

Rain thunder & lightning now. Is it ever going to quit. I bet we've had 3 to 4 inches in w2 days. Thanks Jo

Lucille Bingham

Hey there Eagle Fans, Can anyone tell me why my comments are disappearing after they have been posted? Hope this doesn't disappear as well.

Cherrycarol

Lucille it's still there. I don't know. It finally quit raining. We have flooded roads now. I hope that's it. We got 2 inches today. I still hear thunder.

Jo

Lucille, every time I post, I have to refresh my browser before it actually posts. I put in the "weird words" asked for, and it says it's posted, then I refresh my browser and then I can see what I've posted. This doggone internet stuff is weird how it works LOL Just thought I'd let you know that that is what I have to do.

Annette Kryske

Lucille, After posting on this site, you can't even go back to correct any errors that you wanted to correct. Sometimes, when I type too fast, or too slow,my hand might inadvertently touch something and the whole message disappears. I know that is not your problem.Maybe you hit preview, and then forgot to hit post. Those are the only things I can think of. Now on OT, no one can delete whatever you wrote!Only you, can delete your own comment.

Mavis

Lucille, Judith just tried to post the weather twice and her posts are disappearing as well, so it is not just you. This is probably a function of TypePad, and with all the storms going on....who knows. Just wanted you to know that it is not just you with the posts disappearing.

Lucille Bingham

Jo, Carol, & Annette: Thank you for replying. I did everything exactly like I always did in the past. I actually saw that the comments & the link I included had been posted. I clicked on the link and saw the content. Then I left to go on errands. When I returned I opened to Alcoa, viewed the live video feed and began to read the day's comments. When I got to where mine had been it wasn't there anymore. Then I posted another comment about the missing one. Addressed it to Mr. John and also commented about the great photos he posted. I did see that post after I put in the proper letters & word codes. Then a few minutes later it was gone. That's why I put in the comment that you all saw. Very strange. That never has happened to my comments before. Hope this gets posted. Thank you again.

Lucille Bingham

Thank you Mavis. I was beginning to think "my senior moments" were now getting worse. Just finished responding to some other replies. Hope that doesn't disappear.

Jo

Lucille I've gotten your last few so I guess they're posting now. Y'all have a good night and see you on the nest tomorrow!

John L.

Problem solved! Adobe Flash Player settings were messed up. If you right click on the video feed, the Adobe Flash settings can be accessed. Need to insure that the "allowed" button is clicked.FYI

Mavis

John L. ...glad you figured it out. Be sure you keep that info handy in case that happens again to one of us. I'll try to remember but I'm like Lucille...senior moments work as great excuses sometimes...and are nightmares at other times. Thanks for the info.

NOW..big problem...how to stop FB from asking me to play games/slots every 5 minutes. Does anyone have a fix for that? Please share if you do!

Cherrycarol

Good Morning: We have a lot of roads closed due to flooding. We got almost 3 inches yesterday. It's finally stopped. I hope we don't get any more!!O no maybe more coming!! Holly Molly!!

Mavis

7:25 am EDT May 27th...MEMORIAL DAY...and Honor's Birthday..10 wks

I heard on the news a few minutes ago that Iowa towns are flooding. Does that include the Quad City area? Y'all have sure had your share of water this year. As a matter of fact, you had your share of bad weather, period!

Just checked in on Honor and Glory. They look soaked and scratching their heads so the bugs must still be plaguing them. Since our eagles are one of our nation's symbols...I think Mr. John should arrange for crab patties, and lobster to be delivered to the nest today. A bit of organic bug spray wouldn't hurt either.

Honor seems to enjoy a perch just off the top of the nest. Sure wish I could see what he is perching on. It looks like thin air sometimes!! I guess we can still have a few cardio workouts...I had one late yesterday evening when I was sure Honor was a goner for sure. Don't your heart just about stop when you see one of them perch on the top of the wall, facing out, and squat a bit...spread their wings slightly...and you just know that fool bird is going to take off without even branching first! I even put Mr. John's Alcoa phone number on speed dial in case one of them suddenly takes off by accident!!

Like everyone else...I sure appreciate the sacrifices made so I can sit here and feel safe, without worry about my freedoms which I value so much. Sometimes it is hard to imagine the lives impacted by the sacrifices made...and a "Thank YOU" doesn't seem like enough....but I do thank each of you...the ones still with us, and the ones that are gone.

Good morning everyone...and you, Mr. John. Stay safe..eat good...enjoy your day...and say a prayer of thanks for all our veterans and service people.

beamg

Happy Memorial Day everyone and Happy 10th week Birthday Honor!

Good morning everyone! Not raining at the moment at my house but in the last 48 hours I have gotten 4.9 inches of rain. The east end of our town is blocked because of flooding. AND there is a HUGE storm coming from Des Moines. I'm sure it's going to be a very soggy day!

Both eaglets standing up and looking wet with very gray skies behind them. Not much action in the nest.

Mr. John the pics you posted are beautiful! Thanks for those - we get to see them from the other side of the nest and it's a great view from that side!

Have a great day everyone - time to get ready for today's sevice.

beamg

I can't seem to find the radar link Judith usually gives us but did find this one:

http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/iowa/weather-radar?play=1

Big storm on the way but I'm not sure when it will hit me or the Quad-City area.

CAROL, stay on high ground!!!

Lucille Bingham

As we remember & thank all those who are serving in the military and all those who have served and sacrificed so much for our freedoms, let us also remember & keep in our prayers all those who have suffered or lost their lives in the recent natural or human caused disasters and tragedies.
Let us also pray that the new storms moving across our country are mild and cause no more suffering.
Stay safe & dry my fellow eagleholics!

Cherrycarol

Dad just dropped off breakfast.

Jo Ann

Happy Memorial Day eagleholics and families! Love the picture Cherrycarol. My uncle was in WW1 and lost his leg. He was never the same after that. He went from a farm in Iowa to the trenches of France. God Bless all of our Military. Take care Glory and Honor. It seems like more wet weather is headed in your direction. Boy, what a difference a year makes in the weather.

Mavis

12:59 EDT

Been watching the nest for long time. Those bugs make me nervous...they are absolutley swarming all over the place. Just don't see much going on...looks to be a frustrating day for H and G due to the flying machines. Be glad to see them go...makes me want to continually swat at them .

Jo

Carol, I'm assuming your "avatar pic" is one of your father, so I want to start off by saying a big THANK YOU to all our Service Men and Women who have served, some having given their lives, to keep our country's freedom. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!

The camera has shifted and I can only see the heads and shoulders of our Glory and Honor...can't see the actual nest itself at all. I do see enough to know those doggone bugs are back bugging the heck out of Glory and Honor! Poor things. They make me itchy, too.

Gloomy skies, soggy eaglets and bugs, not a good combination. Everyone try to have a nice day in spite of the weather and those in the area please stay safe!

Sandy Stricklin

Watching our eagle family today makes me feel especially patriotic. They just make me swell with pride. Mavis, your comments in post 41 are especially poignant. I don't think I can say it any better. My father served in England during WW II. I thank everyone who has served, is serving, or is a family member of someone serving our great country.

I can't believe how big the lets are getting. When they start wingersizing, I think they are ready to take off. Hopefully I'm watching when they do. I hope the rain has stopped for now. It's a beautiful day here in Omaha, so I'll try to send some sunshine your way. You all have a good rest of the day. I don't post often, but always read the comments and keep up with Glory and Honor.

Sandy in Omaha

Jo Ann

I think the wind blew the camera off kilter. We can only see their heads. Oh well, it could be worse.

Mavis

3:56 EDT

Jo and JoAnn...I guess we all are getting the heads only shot of the nest. With the wind as bad as it was/is, I'm surprised we are getting anything. It got rough out there for a long time. I don't know if there is flooding around the nest tree now or not. I hope not, because if they one of them decides he/she can fly...they may need to know how to swim too! I doubt their wings are strong enough for that. I would hate for Mr. John to have to row out to save one.

Mr. John...question: I was gone for a while and may have missed it...but what was the verdict on the sound? We are ok like we are...not asking you to do anything as you have gone past expectations to get the second cam going..but... just wondering what happened to the sound you were going to try to reconnect us to. Not that it matters..but was just wondering.

Cherrycarol

Jo yes the picture is of my dad. He was in WW11 & has a purple heart, SILVER STAR & MANY MORE METALS. very PROUD OF HIM. I LOST HIM 3 YEARS AGO, HE WAS 90. I HAD 2 HUSBANDS IN THE VIETNAM WAR TOO. JUST GOT BACK FROM THE CEMETARY. A FEW SPRINKLES NOW, MAYBE IT'LL KEEP THOSE BUGS DOWN SOME BUT VERY HUMID OUT.

JC

The Institute for Wildlife Studies (Dr. Sharpe ? ) is planning on banding the three Eaglets in the West End nest on Catalina Island this afternoon. According to their chat page, it should begin sometime after 1:30 pm PDT (4:30 pm EDT). I haven’t watched any previous bandings but assume it will be shown live as well as being videotaped for future viewing. Times are approximate but if you want to tune in, click on the link below and then click the “play” arrow on the West End Nest cam. If you want to watch full screen, click on the diagonal arrows in the bottom right corner of that video. There is also a live chat on the opening page which should provide updates for the banding. If you go full screen, you lose the chat window but just click the “Esc” key on your keyboard to return to the home page.
Thanks to Laurie for the heads up about this.

This is third attempt at posting this...I'll try it without the link to see if it comes thru and if it does I will try to repost the link.
Otherwise you can just Google "West End Eagle Cam" and go from there.

Jo

Carol, my dad (WW II) and one of my brothers and both my hubby's served (Vietnam), too. I know how proud you are of them 'cause I am proud of mine, too. I haven't made it to the cemetary yet today, will go, though, soon. Thank you for your service, too! After all, you gave your hubbies, and that's a sacrifice, too.

Cherrycarol

Looks like mom brought food.

Cherrycarol

Honor got some great air time. A few times now.

Sandy Stricklin

Wow! Just watching what must be Honor really flapping her wings and getting some height in her jumps. She needs to work on her hovering and branching and then she'll be able to fledge. These are exciting times.

Does anyone know what is biting at G & H? Do you think it's our good ole midwestern nats, flys or something else? I feel so sorry for them. The FL eagles I watched this winter had a few bugs but nothing like this. The other eagles I watch in MN and TN don't seem to be bothered by anything. I don't suppose the humidity helps. Just wondering. Wish they would leave them alone.

I hope everyone had a nice day.

Sandy in Omaha

Cherrycarol

GOOd Morning. sandy I think it's knats biting them now. I remember Decorah eagles had the same problem last year & that's what they said. It must be awful. At least when it rains they stay away. More rain today. Holly Cow!! We've had 5 inches. Happy watching. I have to work today. Honor was really getting some good air last night. Carol

Mavis

7:56 AM EDT May 28th

MR. John....HELP!

When I try to access the cam on my iPad...I get this letter that covers the nest saying Quick Time for Apple is available ...or something like that. The "letter or notice" covers the nest. How can I get rid of it. I check Apps and Quick Time is not showing up. Hate to bother you...but can't see nest because of the notice overlay. I see leaves moving...but that is all I can see. Thanks...

Bakers In Texas

WE got out T-Shirts love them. Who picked the official names this year or did you ever say? Can't wait for when you guys can install a new camera sure miss being able to watch them and all the going's on from Texas. Thank you for all you do Alcoca

beamg

Good morning everyone. 7am cdt and it's raining. But what's new? Last night on the news they said it looks like Sunday is our next chance for a dry day!

The cam seems to be working fine but there's an Apple software update notice on the screen blocking my view of the nest and eaglets this morning.

Mavis

Beamg...HELLO! I'm having the same problem. I sit here trying to punch the "x" out on my iPad. Hit the install...you name it. It's not April Fools day...I checked the calendar.
'
'Mr. John weekend was too peaceful...time to get him out of his rut...time to get him up and moving! 1..2..3..4 1..2..3..4! L.. L...L R L!

beamg

Mavis, hello to you too! So glad I'm not the only one seeing that box on the screen! I've had enough computer problems over the weekend.

We have a backyard and garage full of stuff from a friend who is more than likely going to get flooded, certainly by Sat. He has a place on the Cedar river he uses in the nice months on weekends. River expected to crest at 19.5' Sat and I think he said flood stage is 14'. It's not going to be a pretty picture!

Mavis

Beamg...I know a lot of people is affected by the rains and there seems to be no let up for this week. Heavy rains predicted for much of the next few days. I hate to see so many people hurting from the flooding. I bet the high waters will come up to the nest tree too. That is not important compared to the people that are suffering from the floods...just a thought.

Hope you stay dry and so kind of you to help your friends. Wish there was something I could do...I would if I could.

Mr. John...you know my post was not important...was just having fun with you this morning. I guess you have your hands full with a lot more important stuff. I sure don't want to hinder you in what you need to do with this high water and all.

Annette Kryske

6:48 Am PDT. Good Morning America,I won't mention anything about the Apple.....Guess what? I see a beautiful eagle,no 2 beautiful little ones in the nest. It still looks cloudy and windy in Alcoa land. Cam is working just fine. Hope everyone had a peaceful day of remembrance yesterday. I know the weather (for many of you ) kept you hopping. Was nice here in CA.Not too much going on with our little friends, seems like me, they must have just woken up ,as they aren't even wingersizing. Will get back after breakfast. Happy Tuesday.

beamg

YEA! The box is gone and I can see the eaglets! They look a little wet but ok. One is eating while the other sits on that left edge.

Bakers in Texas: Your post makes me think you aren't getting the video feed. Is that right? You should be getting it since the new cam has been up for a few weeks now.

Just a note: our friend brought 2 boats to our yard so they don't float away! So if it gets too bad at our house, which I don't think it will, at least we can use a boat! We aren't so bad off that we can't joke about it, at least not at this point.

I better get some work done I suppose. Happy viewing everyone! STAY DRY if you can. :)

Mavis

11:40 AM EDT

Mr. John...you did good...you always do. Thanks for getting rid of that "thing" that covered the view of the nest.

Beamg, two boats? I bet a lot of folks can fish from their windows! I hope the water can start receding shortly and the damage is miminal.

Annette Kryske

10:23 AM PDT. Looks like a baby's crib is being rocked by the wind. One little guy just woke up, and is studying the aituation out there.A bit cloudy.. Can't tell whether it is raining or not.Got to see the three eaglets from Catalina get their tags they are 27,28, 29. Such a big prodution. Afterwards had the local family for dinner. Alaways nice to visit with the young adults. They are very entertaining.

Mavis

5:21 EDT

Honor is getting in a lot of practice today. He is hoovering higher and higher. Both are already behind Spirit's first branch last year by a couple of days. I look for tomorrow to be Honor's day. We'll see. If he misses..I hope he can swim!

The West End, CA eaglets were banded yesterday and fitted with small transmitters of some sort that are much smaller that the one we saw on the Decorah eaglet last year. Today, I watched them play in the sun on their nest. Cute babies that were scared yesterday with all the attention they got. They seem back to normal now. Thanks again to Laurie and JC for the info on the live video of the event. It was interesting...and Dr. Sharpe makes it worth the watch. He was gentle in handling the eaglets..(and easy on the eyes).

The wind is picking up on the nest...must mean more bad weather is rolling in.

Cherrycarol

Yes Mavis there r even tornado warnings out but not for here but close. I just saw Honor. I he or she was going out of the nest for sure. Really got up there. I tried watching the banding yesterday but no luck. I'll go back to find the video. Thanks for telling me. Carol

Jo

Hi all, first chance I've had to get here today to see the nest. Both Glory and Honor are in the rocking nest being bugged, well...by bugs! I feel so sorry for them with all those bugs but I guess all they'd have to do is open their mouths to swallow a bunch for a snack LOL Not sure if they actually eat bugs but, it was a thought anyway.

So sorry y'all are having to deal with all that rain and flooding again! Send some my way (NV) we can sure use it! In any case, please be safe ya'll and whomever mentioned having the boats in their yard, make sure there's food & water aboard in case there's a last ditch effort at survival! Sure hope there isn't!
Take care all of you in that area. Thanks Mr. John for all your efforts and all you do to make watching our babies possible!

Was watching the nest rock and roll with the wind which is really blowing right now...and gues what? Now is when both H and G want to see how high they can 'fly'! Someone needs to climb up there and bonk them both! I just shake my head and hold my breath!

KA has a big tornado spotted....huge system on the ground now and looks like the storm sytem is heading toward IA. Going to be a bad night for those in it's path. Just hope everyone has a safe place to be if it becomes necessary to seek shelter.

Judith Hart

I've tried posting the radar loop several times, it never shows up....I'll try again in short time.

Annette Kryske

5:37 PM PDT. Thanks Judith , but no thanks for the bad weather forecast. The little white circle is going round and round for a change, then gives us a look at the wind and the swaying of the nest. The little heads are both looking up at their parents, and now things stopped and the white circle is going.on again,I wish G & H, would just stay down. They must have heard me, as I can barely see the top of their little heads.5:46 PDT. Sleep well my little ones, hopefully that nasty storm coming, will pass you and all our friends in Iowa,& surrounding area. Nitey nite and SEDS.

beamg

8:29pm cdt I'm seeing a beautiful pink sky and one eaglet standing and the other laying down.

Judith, thanks for the weather report. Strange that your link won't post. At my house I'm hearing thunder and it's starting to rain.

Stay safe everyone. I hope it's not a wild night.

Mavis

9:58 PM EDT

Looking at the nest you can see some wicked lightning...and radar shows a really nasty storm moving in. H and G are just standing there...you would think they were looking out a window at the storm..but we all know they are right in the middle of it. The poor babies are babies for long as they have to grow up fast. I miss not being able to see the nest on nights like this. Except of ocassional lightning strikes, the nest is getting black fast. I hate to think what the additional rain will mean to an already flooded area.

Good night, folks.

beamg

Yup, wicked lightening going on. I can see one eaglet standing in the middle of the nest when the lightening lights up the nest. I've been trying to get a screen shot but I'm not lightening quick!

Time to put my feet up and catch some tv and see what the weather is doing where.

Good night Mavis and everyone.

Jo Ann

Saw a ton of lightening tonight. It looks quiet on the nest, now. Boy the whole sky was lit up. I saw one eagle baby raising his head and then I didn't see it anymore. I guess he got scared and hunkered down. Hopefully, that was the worst part. Good night, all.

Cherrycarol

Good Morning Lots of rain again last night. beamg probably will know how much. looks like H & G r waiting for breakfast.85 today looks like it's going to clear up. We have falcons 1 baby in Davenport with a camera on it. I have to look it up. I hope the painters can paint today, then the outside will be done & hopefully the inside.

Cherrycarol

You can see the falcons: Falcon cam Davenport

CherryC...was glad to get your report as I cannot access Alcoa Davenport....Alcoa Eagle Cam...or anything. So...the ones that can see the eagle cam, please be sure and comment.

That was an awful storm that ran thru the area last night. When the ligthning lit up the skies...you could see a bit of the nest. And the skies lit up a lot!

Would like to know about the flooding situation there. It has to be serious with all the rain and the swelling Mississippi.

Good morning everyone.

Cherrycarol

Looks like they r eating now. I left for awhile. Flooding is not that bad now. Just some streets by creeks & ditches. I have a creek behind me but down in the woods & I can hear it running. I.ll go down by the river later & check it out. Not working today & bible study is over now. So I'm going tp lunch with a friend I don't get to see a lot. O we got about 3/4 of inchrs last nite. Clearing up now.

kc/arizdead1

so, these two haven't branched yet?

Cherrycarol

No but any day now Good picture now. The sun is coming up. YEA!!!

kc/arizdead1

Thanks, the Ozarks babies are at 10 weeks as well, theirs is a manmade nest so branches not the same. and 1 is way out on a branch but does the "eagle two step" to get there. He/she has flown/hopped back to the nest from about 2 feet out so maybe that's branching..... From the new Alcoa camera you get to see how low that little branch in front of the camera really is I would have sworn it was 3 feet up :)

6:39 AM PDT I guess after that storm last night, we have an on and off picture. Right now Glory & Honor are sitting on the side of their nest. The picture freezes and then went black. One just did a little wingersizing. Looks a bit windy, but not as bad as last night. The colors were strange during that lightening. It was frightening. Was happy we didn't have the sound working, as it would have scared me. I hate thunder. We don't have much of that in Ca. Off line is up, now, I think I will go and have my coffee and breakfast. Picture came back. See you later.

beamg

Good morning everyone! Got up to beautiful sunshine this morning and didn't expect that with the weather forecasts we've been getting for days of rain, rain and more rain so I'm trying to evjoy it but the gnats were so bad I couldn't finish even 1 cup of coffee out there.

Looks clear at the nest right now too. Windy but drying out and one eaglet got such good airtime it made me gasp!

Carol, you got more rain than I did. Only 2/10" in my gauge. ONLY - HA! Add that to what we've all had and it's a lot. I've lost count but it's close to 6 inches in the last 4 days.

Mavis, you can't see any cams this morning? Not good and sorry to hear that. We'll all try to keep you up to date. I need to check on the Davenport falcons too.

beamg

Well, I checked the falcons. Got a close up look at a parent perched right in front of the cam and then it froze and went out. Did not see any baby yet.

Alcoa cam had the white circle when I got back here but is now working again. Kind of a jerky feed this morning but I can see both eaglets standing.

I really need to get some chores done but I keep thinking I'll miss a good branching here. It just feels like today might be the day. Guess we'll just have to watch and see. :)

beamg

Since at least a couple of people have said they are having trouble posting links and having them show up, thought I'd try posting the link for the Davenport falcons:

http://wqad.com/falcon-cam/

The page says the first chick this year hatched the weekend of May 4-5 so I'm not sure if I'm seeing a parent or the baby jumping up to perch in front of the cam. I don't know much about the falcons as far as how fast the grow etc. Anyway, I was able to see again just now so good luck if anyone cares to check. Pretty cute!

Back at the Alcoa nest, both eaglets standing at this time and it's breezy but the nest isn't bobbing around so that's good.

beamg

YEA, the falcon cam link posted and I figured out it is the parent up close to the cam and I can see a baby off to the left.

Parent just flew into the Alcoa nest but I didn't catch if food was brought in too. I'm just so happy it isn't raining right now. I even have a couple windows open for fresh air but can feel the humidity building so I'm not sure how long those windows will stay open.

CAROL, hope your painting gets done - soon. Do you think things are dried up enough for painting to go well? We have until the end of the week to burn yard stuff here but I'm not sure that will happen as it's just plain too wet. Oh well, there's always fall to try again but a half done paint job is frustrating! Keep smiling Carol!

Mavis

Bea, I just got the cam back on my iPad. There have been a few problems with "server" the past few days. With the weather as it has been...guess some of us are lucky to see anything.

That was some mean lightning last night and was relieved to see both babies doing just fine this morning.

This morning has the makings of a beautiful day. Just hope that holds true.

Cherrycarol

Looks like the Alcoa workers r keeping them entertained. Getting hot & humid today. At least there is a breeze.

Cherrycarol

beamg They got the second coat on this morning. Just a few touch up this afternoon. The need to clean all the paint off the sidewalk now, I'll post some pic on OT It is nice & bright now!! Inside hopefully done today too!! YEA!!

11:30 AM PDT Something new has been added to the comment page!!I noticed quite a few of you were complaining about your comments disappearing. I guess dear Mr. John, took care of that problem.(we hope). We have some red colors to brighten the page.Though the print is a bit smaller, not so much when we type, but reading afterwards. Which can be adjusted by us,if we wanted. Glory & Honor are just relaxing , and getting ready for flight. tomorrow or Friday. I am getting ready for flight right now, as it is lunchtime. Be back soon.

Annette Kryske

I just experimented on the size of the original print, by holding down the CTR and hit the +, to adjust the size of the print. That works fine.

Mavis

Ok...I really don't drink..there's no punch anywhere...don't drink Kool Aid...so why am I getting this funny looking page for comments? It says Kawneerosphere and is light green with red boarders. Maybe my iPad has been taken over by an alien! Usually Mr. John informs us of change this drastic. Is there a new thread and I'm missing it? I don't even see the "threads" on the right hand side or the archives.

Alright! Who did this? What's going on? I don't even see a "Post" button to hit. Mr. John???

Mavis

Ok...I'm calming down...I "found" the POST button...but it wasn't there a minute ago. I think I need a nap...

Jo

Glory and Honor in the nest with, I believe it is, Justice. Justice eating something and the two eaglets just sitting there gazing off. At least we know they weathered the storm and are ok.

Video looks like it's on freeze frame, very jerky view almost like one snapshot at a time kind of thing...like looking through a strobe light. But at least I can see them and tell they seem to be just fine. Still no branching that I can tell, it just looks like one might be sitting on one of the stick from the nest that sticks up a bit. That makes it look like it's sitting on something above the nest and not actually on the nest but it's still part of the nest and not part of the tree or a branch...yet.

Justice is gone now and the eaglets aren't doing much of anything other than gazing about. No wingercising that I can see so far. Still pretty windy so I guess that may be a good thing...wouldn't want them to end up in the "drink!"

Jo

I'm viewing a different comment page today, just thought I'd ask if maybe it's because I clicked the "follow" button? Anyone know? To be truthful, I liked the other comment page because I could actually see the comments better. On this page it seems everything is in tiny-er print and it's very hard to read.

Can someone tell me if there's a difference in the comment pages 'cause if there is I'm going to "un-follow" so I can actually see the comments! Thanks!
