Jo Ann

I'm a little sad. I'm still seeing one lonely eagle on the branch.

Gkeeslar

Glad to see both were seen in and around nest this afternoon. My guess is neither eaglet is really alone tonight. I bet there is a parent close by each of them.

R L ML

It looks like an empty nest tonight for the 1st time since that 1st egg was laid. Thanks for the new pictures especially the eaglet on the building. Have been wondering where he is enjoying his new found freedom

Cristine

Thanks for the new pictures, Mr. John. That looks like Glory to me, sitting on the roof. That means that is Honor, still sitting by on the branch near the nest when the sun went down. What does everybody else think?

Judith Hart

Cristine...I think the same thing, didn't Glory have those white feathers on her wing, like the one on the roof.

Jo

I agree Cristine, that was Glory sitting on the roof and it was sooo wonderful to be able to see her up close and personal like that! Thanks Mr John for that picture! You can see her markings really well. She is gorgeous!

It's good to know that Honor has been out and about, too. I'm sure we'll see more of Him out and about in the coming days, too.

Yes Judith, that's exactly the song I was talking about LOL glad someone else understood where I was coming from.

Gosh, I just can't get over how clear and close up that picture of Glory was! She is absolutely gorgeous!

Jo

I had to go back and bring up that picture of Glory again just to gaze at her for a while. She sort of looks "pensive"...like, ok I'm down here, now how the heck do I get back up there? LOL Either that or she's "thumbing her nose" at Honor and saying, Ha Ha Ha, let's see you do THAT!

I'm sure Honor will do "THAT" too, soon!

Cherrycarol

Good Morning : I see Honor still in the tree. I guess mom will fed Glory where ever he is. But I hope he comes back up sometimes. I'm going over this morning & hope I get to see them. Yesterday I saw NOTHING. tHANKS gLORIA FOR YOUR GREAT PHOTOS. For those of u that missed it yesterday. Go back to the last posts & towards the end r some great photos of there fledge. Don by GKessler.

charlie m

i still don't see the 'little' guy - it's 7:00 EST

will keep looking

ER

Good Morning all-- Looks like Honor is waiting for the fish delivery. He was on that right limb way out on the small part when I signed on and saw him doing some wing stretching and sort of flew/hopped back to the nest and up to the y limb. Between quick naps, he is looking around searching the sky for a parent with food. All that activity yesterday must have worked up a good appetite. Hope Glory is doing ok and getting fed. I am sure Liberty has an eye on him,I have never seen her neglect her eaglets right up till the time they move out for good.

Mavis

7:13 AM EDT June 10th

I guess we can wake up to the anticipation of a new adventure each day now. The biggest fear, the landing on first flight has been settled for Glory...she made it! IF she is having trouble getting back to the nest, it will not take long for her to master that trick. Right now, she is being protected with a parent close by..you can count on that. She will be fed and taught new tricks as the family takes to the air and practice their superior flight stunts and learn hunting and fishing skills among other stuff. Honor may join Glory today but will move at his own pace. He is two days younger than Glory. I think he is doing just fine. We should have a good day watching them. Just wish I had a chair somewhere close by to see them in person. That would be awesome...

Mr. John, yesterday was Sunday and I knew you would be at the nest as soon as you realized they may have fledged. You seem to know which pictures would be most appreciated and you posted them right away. Love the one of Glory on the roof...and looks like you captured L or J just as he/she was landing on that limb. You need to take your cooler, beach chair with umbrella, and camp under the nest tree today...don't forget your camera!!

Good morning everyone!

Cherrycarol

Honor just took off at 6:45 am

Gkeeslar

And off flew whomever spent the night by the nest. It was a beautiful take off.

Gkeeslar

And they atr back just that quick

csmith

Honor looks lonely but assured of his space.

I hope next year there won't be the problems with the camera. This is so much fun to be a part of. Thanks for all you do!

Kathryn Mellecker

And this is what it is all about, once again an empty nest with "our" babies learning to be adult eagles. It is always amazing, and always a little sad when they leave, but that is what they were born to do. Soar free, little friends. Rise on the wings of dawn and be one with your universe!

Barbara Robison

A parent just brought food to the nest and called one of the eaglets in. The parent seemed to look for the other eaglet, then left. Absolutely amazing!

Annette Kryske

7:00 AM PDT Good Morning America, Just as I started my computer, Liberty or Justice , flew in for a snack,no little ones in the nest, then...Glory or Honor stopped in for some fish??It looks like a nice day out in Alcoa land. It will be hard for us to get use to the fact that our little guys won't be in the nest when we check in on them sometimes. Thanks Mr. John for making this possible for us to view, and all the trouble we put you through when things didn't pop up, right. We appreciated all your efforts.

Cristine

O.K. Kathryn. So now you are bringing tears to my eyes. (I am a little sappy) Loved your last comment.

Judith Hart

Didn't know you could do that Mr. John....Great view!

Judith Hart

Lucky for me that I just looked in for the zoom and pan.....WEEEE.... We might even see Cherrycarol peering over the fence.

Judith Hart

There's nowhere to hide now, the camera will find you....Even the caddisflies look like birds flying around.

Cristine

Oh wow! The camera is really pulled back now! The camera is panning around in all directions. I assume we are looking for Glory. It's a little like playing "Where's Waldo" isn't it :) Great to see the river and all of the surrounding trees. That's one of the parents up in the top of the tree on the far left of the nest, isn't it? Still watching out for little Honor.

Judith Hart

Annette, I hope you didn't leave your computer and missed the view. Great pan of the river....I ran for my fishing pole.

Cristine

Oh jeez. Just got tears in my eyes again as I watched little Honor launch off the branch and fly away to the left of the camera. You could tell he was being called to by one of the parents, right before he took off. He got all excited and his beak was moving, like he was saying "I'm coming!"

Judith Hart

Liberty just flew into the nest with some food...and dark thingy, flipped it around in the nest a bit, then took off with it.

  Mavis

10:59 AM EDT

Judy, I saw the same thing. I also saw Honor on the nest a minute ago...was watching him..then he disappeared from the screen without me even seeing him fly off! That was some trick...or a delay in the video. Thought for a moment we were in the days of Star Trek where poof..you are gone!!

Cristine

While I was typing my previous comment, I missed one of the parents coming back into the nest. It then flew off with what I think was food in it's mouth. It flew in a downward direction off the back of the nest, maybe to feed Glory?

csmith

My tweets never show up ~ anywhere. Thank you so much for the trip around the grounds. I was just lucky enough to tune in at the right time and to see the other eagle take off I bet to join in the fun somewhere or food. Thanks again.

Mavis

Correction...I saw Honor on the LIMB before he disappeared...not the nest

R L ML

I saw him in the nest, Mavis. When I 1st came on he was still on the limb just like he was last night when I went to bed, but in reading comments and OT see there were actions that I missed. Also missed the panning while checking on other things. I had seen some of that one afternoon right after the new camera started.

beamg

Good morning everyone! Seems I miss everything these days and I would have loved to see the camera panning! Guess I'll have to check fb to see if screen shots were captured and posted.

This sure is a beautiful shot of the nest tree. And look at ? (G or H) down to the nest and back up to the limb. Hope we get to see the whole family together one more time before this is all over.

Thanks Mr. John for the new pics!

Gkeeslar, great job posting pics on photobucket for those who don't do facebook!

Happy viewing eagleholics!!!

Darlene Nichols

Boo hoo........I miss all the good stuff......babies flying, wide angle views ! .....and now I'm having Annette"s computer disease-----my comments, tweets etc. don't show up or disappear

Judith Hart

Darlene, I had that problem for a time also. Check at the bottom under "your information", make sure your name and e-mail address are still showing up. You may have to type them back in. Mine went poof one day and I couldn't post.

R L ML

Darlene, I had the problem of all comments not showing up for several days and then one will appear and for me several have now.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HONOR don't remember which one. You are putting on a pretty good show for us today. Came back after seeing an empty nest and there you were on the Alcoa branch, then in the nest eating before taking off again.
Have a good day and don't forget to come back again.

Molly

Our babies are all grown up and they flew the coop.

Mavis

Golly...this has been a field day!

Alright, Mr. John...ya gotta come clean...is this the old cam from last year or a new one? Some of us thought this was the old one from last year that you are using as a standby. It seems you are full of great surprises...love what this cam can do. Now that we know...do you need volunteers to man the camera for you? I know Judith already owes you some community service time for something she did a while back. Anyway, nice surprise and great timing. Now that you have spoiled us with these shots...I think two cams next year would make us a shoe in for # 1 of the top 25 cams of the year! Love the view this cam can give us of the surrounding area for branching and fledging. Just want you to know, Mr. John...you done good!
Thanks!

R L ML

They may have flown the coop, but they do return. After my last post I left the room and Honor was back, and soon Glory joined him on the right branch, I suppose to wish him a happy birthday. Then Glory to the nest for a few bites. Honor flew off and Glory seemed to be watching and then Honor landed right beside Glory. Both back to respective branches before Glory left again.

Jo

Hi all, it took me a while to get through all the posts to catch up but I flipped back and forth while reading to watch the "kids." Both were in the nest when I came in, noshing on something. Then, Honor flew to the y branch for a while. Glory stayed in the nest...guess her trip to the roof last night made her hungry 'cause she's still there.

During one of my "flips," I got to watch Honor spread his wings and disappear down. I'm not sure whether he went to the ground or if he just went to a lowere branch that I can't see on the other side of the nest. Too many leaves to tell and even though I peered as hard as I could, I couldn't see him.

Went back to look at the nest to see Glory sitting on the branch under the old camera. As I watched, she flew back to the nest and seems to be tracing someone flying around.

Apparently she was because I just saw Justice fly into the nest with food. Glory is enjoying her repast now and Justice flew off again. Gonna go back and watch for a while to see if, now that she's eaten, Glory will join her brother in flight.

Annette Kryske

11:59 AM PDT. JUDITH: Oh poop, I missed the great shots of the river. I hate when that happens. CAROLYN: Where are you? Haven't seen any videos of our little ones in flight. Hope all is well with you. We have had wonderful pics from both Carols, and a few others, and we do appreciate viewing pics of our little family.I think the kids will be hanging around for a few weeks ,until they learn the tricks of the business of fending for themselves.Beautiful day today.

Cherrycarol

I was there when the camera was panning. 10 am to 10:30. I was in IL. at 9:45. Didn't u see me?? I didn't one eagle when I was there. :( I did see Honor on the branch when I was on the IL. side. I did have a humming bird fly up to me when I was there. Cool! Both in the nest now. 3:10 pm

Jo

Both Glory and Honor sitting on the same branch sharing some sibling time right now.

Is it possible that those who have been posting videos of these two in flight to put them on photobucket so those of us not on the "social networks" can see the videos? That would be really, really, REALLY nice!

Just wondered! You don't "get" if you don't ask! tee hee!

Annette Kryske

JO:: Since March, when the Glory & Honor made the news, Carolyn, had been delighting most of us with her videos of their development. She hasn't posted for about a month or so, and I put out an SOS call to her, as I did this morning.I do hope she is well, and just busy....We do see pictures on FB,and others, that some of the local people have endowed us with.Hopefully we will eventually get some videos.
Glory & Hope are on the branch visiting and discussing their flights today, and their food they might have caught. Looks gorgeous out there in Alcoa Land.Blue Skies and lovely white clouds. and plush greenery,& I missed a shot of the river before.Oh well.

ER

GA all, checked nest and one of the juvies is sitting on a limb near the nest and the other is in the trees to the left of the screen. I think all that exercise is keeping them hungry and they want to be close to home if Liberty or Justice decide to bring home a bite to eat. Don't know if I can call the nest"home" for long now. Remembering last year the time flew by when they all three flew out of the nest at first. I love those shots that Gloria took for the fledge. The one that shows the nest, two juvies and Liberty is a classic. No one can ask for a more perfect documentation of the event. I have studied those pictures and they are just beautiful, hope Mr. John has been able to see them.

Jo

I see two eaglets, one on the branch under the camera and one far far off to the left. Great seeing them both getting so brave.

Judith Hart

I wonder if Faith, Hope and Spirit are still around there...and Freedom.

Cherrycarol

Only they know. Maybe this winter they were. Lots of juvies here then.

Judith Hart

Carol, You don't see them anymore when you go to the river?
I did get a few pictures of them this winter when they were visiting the nest.

Judith Hart

The eaglet in the nest is giving us all a good night wing wave. The other one , still in the tree to the left.

Cherrycarol

Good Morning Looks like Glory is gone & Honor is still on the branch. Judith, No I haven't seen any juvies here this spring. And I have been to the river a lot. Like the Decorah ones. They fly all over. One all the way to Canada. Work today. I.m getting wi fi put in this week so I can take this puter to work then & watch. Going to be a hot one. Did they get fed last night?

beamg

Good morning everyone. Tuned in to see the that darned update notice on the screen and then it was suddenly fixed and now we have a great view of both parents off to the left of the nest way up in the tree top. One eaglet in the nest and just now he/she flew off towards the camera and out of view! That was so cool to watch! Just the 2 parents in view now.

Happy viewing everyone and have a great day.

Cherrycarol

That was great. Got all 3 in the panning!! I think mom & da on the top left. My small puter hard to tell. Then all of a sudden Honor flew off right into the camera. I hope somebody got that shot. Maybe sitting on the boom That would be a good spot to land. YEA!! To whoever did this!! Carol Love this camera!

beamg

Hi Carol. I saw it and didn't get a shot of it 'cause it happened so fast and I was typing. Let's hope someone else got it! It WAS cool and I love this camera too. Last year we wouldn't have seen any of it except the eaglet leaving the nest and we would have just had to wonder if it was a hop to a branch or if it actually flew. This view we have right now is terrific!

Cherrycarol

One just popped up in the nest & I saW A WING IN THE CAM. bET IT;S SITTING ON THE BOOM. WHEN I SAW IT YESTERDAY. I THOUGHT THAT WOULD BE A PERFECT SPOT TO SIT. AWESOME! hI BEA

Mavis

8:33 AM EDT June 11th

Judith...I'm about ready to go up there and see this for myself...you ready? Beamg and CherryC said we could crash with them or we could camp out under the nest tree if Mr. John will leave the gate unlocked.

This makes up for what we missed last year...well almost because last year's F/H/S are still the special ones for me....especially Trey.

Mr. John...make our day! Love what you are doing with the camera!

Cherrycarol

oNE ON THE RIGHT ABOVE THE CAMERA. I have to go to work. POO!! Be glad when my internet gets hooked up there.

Cherrycarol

It would be nice if Mr. John would let us have a daY TO GO OVER THERE BY THE NEST. HINT HINT!! CAROL

beamg

I was so caught up in the view I forgot I had the water running in the sink to do dishes. By the time I got back to the kitchen the water was overflowing into the other side of the sink and I'm so glad the center part is lower allowing the water to go to the other sink rather than to the floor and who knows where! I might have had to mop floor as well as do dishes.

I currently see none of the eagle family in the tree or in the nest. It's so still I thought the cam had frozen but it didn't.

Carol, when do you get internet at the shop? I hope it's soon too so you don't miss everything while you're working. Psssst...Mavis and Judith are talking about camping out with us. Did you hear about that? I hear Judith is one amazing cook so she can be in charge of meals. Now, Mavis...well, I think we'll have to watch her so she doesn't hop the train to parts unknown.

Woooooooooo Wooooooooooo! The 8:10AM train, eastbound and right on time.

I have to leave for a while so I'll have to catch up when I get back. Looks like it's going to be in the mid 80s today with a 30% chance of rain most of the day. bbl

Jo Ann

Good morning all, Looks like an empty nest. I'm sure they will still come around the nest. I'm feeling a little of the empty nest syndrome. Hopefully we will be able to see them at some point, today.

Jo Ann

beamg, I wish I could hear the train, but, maybe next year. Yea! IT looks like Honor is back in his spot. I feel like Glory and Honor are being home-schooled by mom and now he wants some lunch. Have a great day, all.

Skip

It is good for the babies to be out of the nest, but sad to see an empty nest. I miss seeing the babies already!

Darlene Nichols

Oh woe is me...............just tuned in an nobody is home

beamg

It's now 12:45 cdt and there is one parent sitting on the highest bare branch to the left of the nest. I can only imagine what the view is from up there but I bet it's awesome! The nest is empty and there is no sign of Glory or Honor. :(

The wind seems to be picking up a bit. Might have rain today but right now it's sunny at my house.

Jo

I tuned in to see no one in the nest or in any of the surrounding area...no matter how hard I looked, couldn't even see a shadow of an eagle or eaglet anywhere!

Came here to type the above in and clicked back to look again and L or J landed on the tip of the bare branch at the highest point on the left of the screen. Then my screen froze and went black.

Reloaded and L or J was still there and now it looks like I'm getting "freeze framed" shots from the camera. I know it's breezy 'cause the leaves are blowing in the wind but I'm getting the "strobe light" effect again.

Could that be because others are watching the nest at the same time and clicking pictures? Does it work that way? I know that, on another site I watch occasionally, it has a camera button where you can take a picture and save it to your computer. Does this site have such a thing, too, and is that what makes the picture I'm viewing look so choppy and like it's freeze framing all the time?

I have no clue how all this technology works so can someone else explain to me if what I'm "thinking" is possible or if I'm just trying to imagine what I'm seeing is what I'm seeing?! Can you help, Mr John or anyone else, Please!?! I'd sure appreciate any instruction anyone can give me! THANKS!!

Jo

Well, I think I've figured out part of the problem. I just noticed that, down in the lower right hand corner of the picture is a control for low, medium and high quality. It was "automatic" set to medium. I switched it to low and now, although the picture is all blurry, I can at least tell the wind is blowing. I still am getting the strobe light effect only it's not as bad as it was before. When I switched it to high quality the camera stopped and started like it was taking still pictures, one every 15 or so seconds...which is probably what gives the strobe light effect. Has anyone else noticed this or does anyone else have this "problem?"

Jo

uh oh, I now have a totally black screen for a picture!

Jo

whew, finally got a picture back. Not gonna mess with anything again! J or L still perching in the upper left top highest point of the bare branch to the left. Wonder what the view is from up there? Bet it's gorgeous and that's why J or L has chosen it to perch in!

And, now it's not letting me post anything. Sighhhhhhh

Leonard Geifman

I love the wide angle shot!

Jo

Had a crash, so I did a diagnostics, cleaned up and rebooted. Let's see if this thing works now.

Jo

Guess it's working now. One Parent, sitting in the y of that bare, upper left hand branch, and one Eaglet, sitting on branch under camera in the view finder now.

Thankfully, crash did nothing to my computer!

Annette Kryske

1:08 PM PDT I just saw G/H? sitting in the usual spot. L/J? on the left on top. The little one just called out to Mom, "Where's my snack"?Looks like L/ J is getting ready to take off....Both L&J are on the top branch...Guess he relieved her or him.....It flew down also. Just the little one is in the view now. Maybe they are giving lessons to the little one.Hope all is well down below. JO: I haven't had any problems viewing today .

Jo

BOTH Parents in the nest, can't see youngsters anywhere!

Annette, I'm guessing it was my computer. I'm back up and running now. Thanks!

Cherrycarol

2 in the nest now eating. Beamg I'm waiting for Mediacom to call me about internet. I'm calling them now. I'm ready for those 2 to come. I have room here. Now that I'm back at the salon I heard the trains all the time & it always reminds of our eagle family.

Jo

L & J eating something but kids are still out "running around" lol Guess Mom and Dad get to have a leisurely dinner to themselves for a change!

Judith Hart

Anyone else on "STUCK"....

Cherrycarol

Looks like L & J have found a new perch. Judith STUCK??

Cherrycarol

Judith there IS NO WIND BUT I SEE LOR J MOVING IT'S HEAD

Judith Hart

Camera was frozen when I just came back to the computer....UNSTUCK now!

Jo

Parent in upper left bare branch and juvvie in nest now

fran peveler

how wonderful to see nature at it's best. I just love these eagles and babies!!! And the photo shots are just great!!! Fran

Sue

Thanks Alcoa for all your hard work and dedication that has allowed us to view these majestic creatures over the years!!!

Jo

Finally got to see one of the eaglets take off and actually fly! Like: WEEEEEEEEE look at MEEEEE! And, L or J sits patiently up on the upper bare branch to the left and watches 'em. Too cool...'cept it means they'll soon be flying away. wwwwwaaaaaaaaaaa

Judith Hart

I can't take my eyes off their shoulders, Broad, straight and strong.

Jo Ann

Good night L or J and one baby. Looking forward to another day of exploring for our young eagles. I do wish I could see two babies. They were so close, I just wonder if he or she is close by. Good night, all.

Judith Hart

Jo Ann, I saw them both in the trees. One was in the upper left and one was hiding two inches left of center screen in between the trees.

Jo Ann

Thank you, Judith. I'll look closer tomorrow night. Good night, all.

Judith Hart

Cherrycarol

Good Morning Looks like (I think) Mom & Dad in the top of the tree on the left. & H or G right below them. That;s probably where they slept all night. Foggy this morning so it's hard to see the white on J & L This must be there new perches for now. I'll no where to look. Not today tho. Starting a new bible study today then going on the Celebration Belle lunch cruise. I wish they would go towards the nest but they don't . Darn!! Maybe one will be flying over the river.

Cherrycarol

O NO Judith I hope the weather waits until we get back from our boat ride.

Cherrycarol

L or J just flew away. Maybe to get breakfast.

Judith Hart

Decorah is really getting the storm now.
http://www.decoraheaglecamalerts.com/ie.htm

Judith Hart

Carol, I hope it holds off for you, that would not be fun. Check you local weather, National Weather Service says mainly after 1:00 but who knows.

Gloria Schilling

Thank you so much for the eagle cam. This has been an interesting journey. The eagle parents are an example of good parenting! Thank you and I look forward to watching next year, too.

Mavis

8:18 AM EDT JUN 12TH

CherryC....don't know if you will want lunch...might be rocking 'n rolling too much with the storms moving in. Hope you have fun and arrive back dry!

Saw a lot of action this morning on the nest tree. All four were there with one eaglet "hidden" toward the center of the picture. I had fun watching them 'come alive' this morning.

Good morning everyone!

beamg

Good morning everyone. Looks like a bad weather day for a lot of the country!

Right now I see no eagles in the picture. They probably know bad weather is coming and are looking for safe places to ride out any storms.

Carol, I hope that cruise works out for you! Channel 6 says the worst part of the storm should hit at about the evening commute time so hopefully you will be off the river before then.

Nothing going on at the nest tree so I better get ready for the day. bbl

Dottie in SC

they certainly are camouflaged among the leaves. With this monitor of mine it is difficult to see. Have to wait until my husband brings home the laptop.Did get a glimpse before they hopped over into the leaves

Jo Ann

Judith, I checked in on Decorah and I was seeing shadows of birds flying around. Not sure what they were, though. Very pretty up there, too. Is anyone getting a spinning circle right now? I keep refreshing and nothing happening. Have fun on the boat Carol. Stay safe everyone.

Sandy Stricklin

Mavis, I have been sick and was in the hospital for a bit. I was trying to catch up on the posts but there are so many. It sounded like only one eaglet has been seen since they fledged on Sunday. But, your post on pg 94 at 8:22 this morning says you saw the whole family earlier today. Did I read that correctly? I hope so as I was getting a bit concerned. Thank you for your help.

Sandy in Omaha

Jo

I guess if I want to see them again, I'll have to be up early in the morning. Empty nest and sky today for me. That tree sure is rocking though! And that's a gloomy sky, sure would be a lot prettier if our babies could be seen flying in it!

I'm suffering from empty nest syndrome.

Carol, I hope you get to enjoy your cruise without getting dumped on. The way that wind looks, it's gonna be a choppy one so make sure you take your Dramamine!

Be safe y'all and try to have a nice day in spite of how the weather is there!

Jo

BTW, Sandy, I hope you're feeling much better!
