Great News! Thank you for the updates & pics. :-)

Bill Burrows

Wonderful News!!

beamg

Love it and can't wait!

Cherrycarol

YEA!! I can't wait either. Love the second camera!!

Donna Harwood

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. We eagleholics are starving.

Mavis

Mr. John, it looks like you are really fixing it up for us!! I'm excited and I'm with Cherrycarol...I like that second camera view too.

The nest looks a mess and we will have fun watching Justice and Liberty fix it up for our new wee ones. I hope L and J have been coming back to the nest some. It will be so good to see them again.

Thank you for the update.

Annette Kryske

Oh Boy!!! Am getting excited already for the arrival of Liberty and Justice. We really missed them this summer. Of course we are looking forward to all the gossip on Alcoa site. Hopefully, we will have a good camera, and sound.!!! Thanks again Mr. John, and all your helpers for all your efforts to make us happy again.

Jo Ann

YEAH!

Annette Kryske

12:40 PM PDT. JoAnn just called to tell me that the camera and sound are working. Am so excited! I am looking right into the nest, and hear a little chirping in the background. It is like hearing music to my little old ears. Thank you Alcoa and Mr.John, and all those dedicated people who worked hard to make this work. Now all you have to do is bring Liberty & Justice into the picture, to make us Eagleholics happier yet. Thanks again. Annette

ER

Yeah, that is great. First day of fall, too. I noticed some sticks around the bowl, were those humans or eagle? I know Justice and Liberty will redo them to suit their taste. You know Liberty is a real fuss pot, when it comes to the sticks in the nest. Thanks for the work and all the trouble Alcoa has gone to. Guess I will have my late lunch now of Chill and Beans and some corn bread. I bet Justice and Liberty are fattening up for the fall and winter days. Ok, first eagle family, do your thing. Hope for three little eaglets again.

CaJ

YiPPIE!!!! IT's Live!

Mavis

6:46 PM EDT 22 Sept 2013

You did good, Mr. John. Love the sound! Thank you.

Cherrycarol

sO HAPPY TO SEE IT LIVE. WHAT A SURPRISE TO SEE IT ON SUNDAY. WOOPII!! LOOKS LIKE A FEW NEW STICKS HAS BEEN ADDED. I'M HAPPY NOW!!

beamg

ALRIIIIIIIIIIIGHT! What a treat! Thanks Alcoa...it's terrific! Carol, I agree. Sticks have been added so L and J must already be busy. And the sound....I just heard geese and a distant siren.

What a cool 1st day of Spring Sunday!

beamg

Well pooh, I guess you can tell my favorite season is spring. Duh! I meant Fall in the previous post. Sorry folks. Myabe it was the excitement of the cam with sound being on???

Cherrycarol

Justice was in the nest last night around 7:10 pm & now this morning at 6:45 am. YEA!! Not sure if it's him or her on the y branch.

Cherrycarol

Both in the nest now!!

Mavis

8:12 AM EDT 23 SEPT

Isn't it exciting...and the sounds are wonderful. Justice was on the Aloca branch but I think Liberty left. Woohoo!!

Mavis

8:42 AM EDT

The train is rolling through! Do y'all realize how long it has been since we heard the train?!! Justice just left a few minutes ago. The nest is empty..but not for long. Both L and J were on the nest this morning.

Good morning, Mr. John. We sure appreciate the nice surprise of going online yesterday. Thanks!

Cherrycarol

Mavis Trains go by in IL. about 4 times a day now. So you'll hear them a lot. Nice to have sound again!! Thank You Mr John & Alcoa!!

beamg

Good morning everyone! Beautiful morning at the nest! I'm so out of the habit of checking the nest first thing that I forgot this morning - shame on me! So I'll just sit here a bit and see what I can see and hear. I was going to report I hear a train, and I do, but it's going through my town!

Have a great day eagleholaics and especially Mr. John and everyone at Alcoa! Thanks again for all your work to make us happy.

Annette Kryske

7:00 AM PDT. Hear leaves "rattling" in the background and the Choo choo trains are blowing their whistles, and some sirens. Hope there aren't any fires nearby. You Eastern folks are lucky to see all the action before I even get up in the AM. How long did L & J visit the nest?I hear Birds in the area, but haven't seen any yet. Am sure I will later in the day. Everything looks just fine with the Cam, and sound. I'LL BE BACK after my breakfast

ER

11AM CST--SEPT.23
Great pic of the nest. Wish I could have seen L& J this morning. Beautiful sunny fall day. The pic is clear, sound of the leaves blowing in the breeze is nice and peaceful. Good to know that L& J are checking out the nest. Bet they were watching the workmen and wanted to know what they were doing in THEIR tree.It is funny how we are all excited about this new camera and the view, it is like we are a family and J or L are distant cousins that we have not seen for a long time. Now we can check the nest every morning, have coffee with our family and catch up on if there will be 2 eggs or 3 eggs this year in the spring. Great to see you all and of course L& J.

Cristine

So great to see the nest again, and hear from all the fellow Eagle-Lovers! I checked in yesterday afternoon and was able to see live-cam of the nest and hear the workers talking in the background. It only lasted a few minutes, but it got me very excited! Can't wait to catch my first glimpse of Liberty and Justice, hopefully today, and who knows maybe Honor and Glory will stop by? Thank you Mr. John. You have made SO many people very happy!

R L ML

Thanks for getting the cam up and running again. I't fun even to see the empty nest and hear of others who have seen L and J. Hope that you have better luck with your cams this year.

Mavis

8:02 AM EDT 24 Sept 2013

At 7:28 this morning, Liberty flew into the nest and Justice followed a few minutes later. At first, judging by the sleek hair line, I thought it was Justice but then I saw the black spot on the tail. I thought the spot looked different because it was shaped differently and the tail did not have to be spread to see it....but I assume it was Liberty.

The sound is sharp. I thought it sounded like rain but guessing it was the sound of the wind and leaves rustling.

It was good to see both at the nest this morning. It is good to have the cam back....

Cherrycarol

First Liberty was in the nest then Justice came & moved some sticks. Darn white & blue paper in the middle. Another beautiful Day!!

Kathryn Mellecker

How do we get white and blue paper to go away, I clicked on everything I could think of and it just stayed there!

Even not seeing the middle of the picture is a VAST improvement over no picture at all. Thanks Alcoa!

Annette Kryske

6:59 AM PDT. Looks like another windy morning. I hear the trains in the distance and some squawking birds. I don't have the colored papers that you all were talking about. Am glad you got to see our L & J, and that you saw a spot on Liberty. Hopefully, we will see them later today . Everything seems to be working beautifully. Thanks again.

Tk Jurkouich

I am so glade you guys are back online. Even though the nest is empty, its great to see it live again. I hope this year will go by better with the tech problems and what not. I say we will have 3 eggs this year.

Dan L

One of the young ones feeding in the nest. Wish I knew which one it is.

Annette Kryske

10.01 AM PDT. Juvie is in the nest chomping away at something. Could it be one of ours??
He is working at clearing things out. Looks quite thin. This is the first eagle I've seen.since the camera broke down. Looks like Alcoa and Mr. John, etal. did a good job.I am waiting to see what happens next.

Cherrycarol

This looks like a 4 year old to me. It could be one from there first hatched. They would be 4 now. I'm surprised L or J aren't around!! There r some pretty big logs in the nest already!!

Annette Kryske

11:01AM PDT Juvie is still here. The wind is blowing and....he just flew out! Every once in a while, I hear a click from above. I am not sure if it is from the camera or a bird.I did take a pic of the Juvie, and I will post it on OT if it works. I do hope someone else took a picture of this little one.

C. Munger

Yep, its a four yer old. It stayed a long time. My grand daughter loved it.

Judith Hart

Looks like one of our youngsters in the nest...4:29 PM EST, Dark head and tail.

Annette Kryske

Hello Judith, Welcome back! Hope you had a nice summer. We missed your forecasts, and
Caroline's videos.I spent a whole hour watching a Juvie this AM. Fortunately, I did some paper work. Now it is nap time for me. Hope you hang around a while.Sounds like raindrops in the background. Not too sure. Do you hear an occasional clicking sound??Might be the camera,or a bird eating something.

Mavis

10:33 PM EDT

Well...I just love that sound! I sure did miss it and good to have it back!!

We had two different visitors in the nest today. One was about 4 yrs old and had that white/grey head. He/she looked hungry. I tell myself it made it 4 yrs and plenty of food around so she/he should be ok. Made me want to feed it though. The other one was a tad younger. Had grey head and beak but as Rebecca on OT pointed out...eye color was slightly yellow so a little older than F/H/S would be. Of course, L and J were both on the nest today and a joy to watch.

Hope everyone enjoys a good night...

Darlene Nichols

What a delight to have the camera back.......it's a beautiful sight see....thank you Mr.John and all the Alcoa people who have made this possible

Cherrycarol

6:45 AM wED. liberty IS EARLY TODAY & DIGGING LIKE SHE;S MAKING A BOWL. aNOTHER BEAUTIFUL DAY. Sunny & 78 today. I have time to go over there today. Maybe I'll get to see them. :)

Dottie in SC

Both on nest @ 8:30 est. Justice hogging the camera while Liberty moved sticks

Cherrycarol

7:35 there goes the train. & Both just left. Justice was bringing branches one with leaves still on it. A lot of moving sticks too. Awesome.

beamg

Good morning everyone! Well I missed L & J again this morning. How am I ever going to get myself back into the habit of getting here first thing so I don't miss it all? I see the green leaves still on the branch and some other new sticks. Nice nice view for sure! I also missed the juvies that were there yesterday. Geeze, go away overnight for 1 night and miss everything! Oh well, there's time yet. It's a bit breezy right now and I hear noises off camera - birds of some kind.

Thanks everyone for posting about L & J and the juvies! Have a great day all. bbl

Skip

Im glad to see the camera is back on! Yay!!!!! Looking forward to seeing two of the most beautiful birds in the world raise a family! Come on January 2014!

Cristine

Just checking in... catching up with everyone's posts. Still haven't seen any activity when I have viewed the nest, but so wonderful to read about what others have seen. I guess I just need to check first thing in the morning :) However, a few minutes ago when I was watching the live-cam, a viewer counter popped up under my picture!(6 viewers at that time). It was awesome! Has anyone else had this?

Cherrycarol

7:00 pm both stopped in for awhile.

R L ML

Haven't been here at the right time to see any nest activity. I'm not up early enough to see the morning activity and have just missed other sightings. Thanks Cherrycarol fo letting us know they stop by.

Cherrycarol

Both r there early again about 6:30. Justice has been bringing more sticks,

Cherrycarol

7:30 & Liberty is still there. Time to go to work. Have a good day all! Carol

Paul

Nice to see one of the eagles live this morning. Beautiful picture.

Cristine

I am so happy! 8:20 A.M. and one of the eagles is still in the nest. I assume it's Liberty from Cherrycarol's previous post, but I can't tell for sure. She was doing a lot of head shaking and swallowing and I was wondering why, then I zoomed in to the full picture and saw that she has one of those little fluffy white feathers stuck in her beak. Poor thing. I could hear a Blue Jay calling out in the background. Oh, that glorious sound, so good to have it back! Beautiful day here in the Quad Cities area. Clear and cool (52 degrees) here this morning without a cloud in the sky, with a high of 82. It's 8:56 now, and our eagle has taken off. Have a wonderful day everyone!

R L ML

I was there the same time as you Cristine. This was my 1st view of an eagle since the camera went on. Glad one hung around long enough for a late riser to see.

Dave Owens

All eagle nest cams I watch don't require a viewer to login every 15 minutes, why can't alcoa do that?

beamg

YEA! Finally I get to see action in the nest. And it's a juvie! He's keeping a pretty sharp look out. I just wonder how long he/she will get away with this...

Dave Owens, you actually have to log in? I just have to click on the play arrow in the middle of the picture to start it again. I think that has to do with saving/conserving bandwidth. Other posters on here can explain that better than I can.

WOW, this juvie has been here a long time! It's now 3:32CST.

beamg

3:38cst L or J just flew in and chased off the juvie!

beamg

I hear eagles off camera! Sure have missed that sound!!!

Annette Kryske

1:43 PDT. Yes, it was a Juvie, but was chased away by L or J. I heard some screeching in the background. Too bad we couldn't see more of L or J. I didn't see any black markings on the tail. The Juvie looked so cute sitting in the nest. The sound of the train going by is beautiful to my ears.Living in the big city, we don't hear trains, where we are.

Mavis

4:56 EDT 26 Sept

Bea, I can still hear the voice of a juvie near by. I wonder who is sitting on deadwood...that is a favorite branch to hang out on.

Dave, I don't speak for Alcoa but Bea is right. Alcoa picks up all the expense of bringing the eagles to us. The cam operates 24/7 year round except when down for repairs. Alcoa does not allow advertisers on this site... which we all appreciate. The 15 minute refresh is to cut down on wasted broadband time. They don't mind if we watch 24/7 but if we tune in and leave for several hours...that is wasted time they have to pay for. The refresh is to keep us from streaming when we are not watching.

BTW...glad you are watching and posting.

Cristine

6:15 P.M. central. Brave little black and white bird on the Alcoa branch. I have not ever seen one like it before. I will have to look it up in my bird book. It made a lot of noise before it flew off. Then I got to hear the train whistle for the first time! Music to my ears.

beamg

Mavis, I forgot about deadwood so thanks for the reminder. Not sure if we will see deadwood with the new 2nd cam. Now we can imagine at least one of them there almost any time. Ahhh the memories!

Cristine, lucky you hearing the train! Did you figure out the identity of that black and white bird yet? Interesting.

Does it look like more leaves have been brought in? It sure looks and sounds like a quiet peaceful night. It was a beautiful day all day in the area.

One thing I noticed this year is that when I have to type in the code when I want to post is that all the characters are numbers. So far they have been very easy to read. Yea!

Cherrycarol

Bea do u have to type in the codes every time? I never sign out so it stays on as long as u use it often. The juvie today was a lot younger than the one Tuesday. Almost 7 hope L & J show up tonight.

beamg

And there was just an adult in the nest! 6:48cst.

beamg

Carol, yes I do. I know many of you go about it differently than I do but I'm not sure what that is. What are you logged into when you post here?

Joyce

OMG !! Per chance I checked in and we are back in business. Our home experienced an advisory evacuation with the Rim Fire ,but they have it almost contained. Our firefighters had their hands full, but pulled it off in great style. So grateful here in the Sierra's. Will check in tomorrow to finally see the nest. Love you all! Joyce in Pinecrest

Mavis

Joyce...nice to hear from you again. Glad to hear your home may be out of danger of the fire. That must have been a close call. YES...check in often as we have been seeing L and J almost every day and usually a couple of juvies visit the nest when L and J are out.

Bea...just above where you comment you will see, sign in with TypePad...click on that. You can sign in by using your FB account...just click that on the right after you click on TypePad...or you can sign up with Typepad. Once you do that...you no longer have to put the code in. Nice.

beamg

Good Morning everyone.
7:45 am cst Just tuned in and I hear the train!!! Nothing going on in the nest but that train sound makes me smile. What is it about that train? It goes through Durant and is so loud you can hardly hear yourself think but on here it just sounds so cool. I'm probably too late to see either L and/or J this morning since they are the real early birds.

Mavis, thanks for the instructions. Now that I'm done talking about the train I"m going to try it.

Bea Griffore

Well, I think I got signed in correctly. Hmmm, now my real name is used so the "beamg" is probably history!

I still hear that train. WoooWoooWoooooooooooooo!

Joyce in Pinecrest, I do pray you are out of danger now. I can't imagine dealing with those fires. Pretty darned scary. Stay safe out there.

Cherrycarol

Bea fb is a lot EASIR to use. Glad u figurEd it out. I saw Liberty there at 7;10 AM, looked WHEN I GOT TO NWORK.

Mavis

Bea....you are signed in ok...see your name in red now? I don't know how you signed in...but I signed up for typepad and I put my user name as "Mavis". If I sign in using my FB name...then I'm not sure...I guess my FB name comes up. Wait...I can tell by your profile pic..you signed in with FB.

To register for TypePad is easy...and you can upload your picture too. You don't have to give info that you don't want to...except email address. I haven't had a problem with spam or anything from typepad since I started using it last year. Every now and then, typepad will make you re-log in, in order to verify you are the correct user...so if the code ever pops up again...you know to re-log on.

Bea...it is about time you started using the advantages of logging on...you are a long time poster! Bonk!

beamg

Hey Mavis you bonked me? I know I have a hard time with changes but also realize I should be more up with the times....maybe.

Oh shoot! The cam is offline. :(

Carol thanks for posting you saw Liberty. I missed that.

Bea Griffore

Ok, now I don't know who I am. I'm blaming it on the "Bonk" but maybe I just had to re-sign in, which I now did. Change - not sure about it yet, if it's good or bad.

Mavis

Bea...yep...a small bonk! You crack me up. I needed that laugh!

Hope the eagles and juvies enjoy their morning...I have got to clean house just a little...may even make the bed!

It is good to be back..isn't it?

Bea Griffore

Yes it's good to be back even if I have to get bonked once in a while! lol

Cam still offline. Wonder what's up? I'm always wondering about something. :)

bbl

Mavis

Cam is offline means we are back to normal...even that feels good (for a while!).

Maybe Mr. John is setting up the 2nd cam...that would be worth the wait for sure. Maybe he is playing with panning and zooming.

Come on, Mr. John...you want us to keep guessing??? BTW...how was your summer? I hope you enjoyed your break from us....but we arrrre baaack!!

Bea Griffore

YEA! Just came back to check at 3:50 pm CST and the cam is back up and running!

Annette Kryske

3;19 PDT L or J just flew in as I turned on my computer. How exciting is that??? It is the 1st time since we got the cam working Pick up your wing, so I can tell whether it is L or J.Oh my! It is Liberty, and I saw the spot where it usually is. Yea! Oh, how I wish I could pet her!!!Justice just flew in too! What a sight for me to see them together. I hope someone is taking a snapshot. They look so huge in the nest don't they? This is the time I usually check to see if there is any action, and it was. Thanks you Alcoa,&Mr.John.....

Jo

WOW Both Liberty and Justice in the nest fixing it up! WOO HOO!!

Jo

By the way, in case you didn't know www.mnbound.com's nest is up, too, and their eagles are doing the same thing...protecting their nest from intruders.

Jo

Anyone know if they're going to have a night cam too? Just wondering!

Jo

Thanks Mr. John!! Great to see the cam working again!

Cherrycarol

Jo I don't know. 7 am & pm seems to be the magical hours!!Both in the nest tonight.

Mavis

8:00 EDT 27 Sept

Good morning everyone.

Both L and J were on the nest for a while this morning. The sound of the train, the geese flying overhead, and the sight of these two all at one time....what a nice way to start the day!

Bea Griffore

Happy Saturday Eagle lovers!

Can't tell which adult is in the nest but I don't care. I'm just happy to see whoever it is. Kind of breezy today and the nest is swaying a bit - kind of hypnotizing. I think I'll just sit here a bit with my coffee.
beamg

Bea Griffore

Oh, btw, Thanks Mavis for the instructions on logging in here without having to use those codes each and every time! And Carol, you gave me the nudge I needed to try it.

Jo, good to "see" you back this year! I'm like Carol, don't know about a night camera but as in the past I believe the cam(s) will be on all night and how much we can see just depends on the amount of light from the moon.

Bea Griffore

Liberty just bent forward so I could see the black tail spot! Hi Liberty!

Jo

Thanks for the welcome Bea! I wouldn't miss being at this nest for anything! Will check daily to see if L & J are around. They're not there now tho.

Cherrycarol

I had my computer at the salon this morning so a lot of customers got to see Liberty & Justice this morning. They were there quite awhile. Like I said before 7 am. They all loved watching them. Jo check back around 7pm our time.

R L ML

Came on to an empty nest at 4:30 EDT, checked out the comments and back to the nest and Justice was there. He really did dig around in the nest and possibly came up with something to eat. Flew off before long, could see tail feathers and no black spots.

Cristine

Liberty or Justice in the nest from approx. 5:40 until 5:45 P.M. CST. and then again now (5:55).I can hear another eagle nearby. It looks to me as if there is new grass in the nest today. Has anyone seen some brought in? Maybe it's just my imagination :) What a joy it has been to be able to see Liberty and Justice again after all these months. It's amazing to me how much they return to the nest in the "off-season"!

Cherrycarol

Cristine Yes that is new grass in the middle but I didn't see when they brought it in. WOW! The wind is awful there. They both just left. A lot of new branches too. They came early because of clouds & rain we hardly got any.

R L ML

Cristine They have really been digging in the grass in the 4 times one or both have been on.
The nest was active for 45 minutes starting just before 7:00 EDT. One on alone for most of the time. Other came in, the 1st time I had seen them together on the nest since the cam came back on. 1st one flew away for several minutes and returned before the wind really got strong and they both flew off. It looked like it might be raining.

Cherrycarol

Justice has white feathers stuck in his back & Liberty has the black spot on her tail.

Cristine

6:30 both Liberty and Justice in the nest moving around the grass and those leafy little sticks that someone mentioned before.
Oh Beamg,(Bea?) that brave black and white bird I saw on the Alcoa branch Thursday drove me nuts trying to figure out what it was! The wings were half white and half black, like a red-headed woodpecker, but a dark head. I perused my birdbooks to no avail and finally turned to the internet. There, someone had posted a pic of a juvenile woodpecker, and there it was! Apparently their heads don't turn red until the first winter after they are born. Very interesting. Mystery solved :)

Jo

Hmm howdy all. Well Carol, 7am and 7pm are 3am and 3pm my time LOL I'm sleeping for the first part and probably out doing things the second part. But, I did get to see them both in the nest the first day I "tuned in" after finding out the cam was up again! I'll keep checking. It's good to hear from you all again!
Jo
P.S. MNBound's cam is up usually on Saturdays from 1-5pm CST and the chat is up then, too. If you sign in to Ustream, you can get emails that tell you when they bring the cam up during the week if they spot Mom or Dad there. Someone is always on the look out for them so the cam comes up quite often. Y'all got me hooked on eagles doggone it! I'm never going to leave the computer again! LOL

OH and I heard that http://www.ustream.tv/channel/africam-black-eagle Just had a hatchling! That's in Africa LOL so those who can't sleep, our night is their day!

Cheryl Bartlett

I am so excited to see Liberty and Justice back in the nest again! I feel like I have come home to a family reunion with all of us here sharing our love and observations of these two amazing parents. Thank you Mr John for making this such an amazing experience for all of us. Without you and your dedication we would not have the rare privilege of being such an intimate part of nature! I am so greatful and in awe of this opportunity!

Cherrycarol

Good Morning Guess I slept to late today. But it was nice. Doing book work so I'll keep tuned. The nest is looking great already. Jo you don't have day light savings time there?

Cristine

Beautiful day at the nest! The wind has gone down from yesterday, and it will only get up to 74 degrees. Not a cloud in the sky right now.
I can hear some sparrows chirping so close that I thought the sound was coming from my house! Made me think about "Fearless" and friends and wonder if they are still living in the bottom of the nest.
Carol B. - so nice to hear from you. You are so right about the family reunion (or maybe class reunion) comparison. It's so wonderful to get together with old friends we haven't talked to in a while. Comforting.
Jo - thanks for the info on the other nests. That one in Africa sounds very interesting. I think I may check into it!
No activity at the nest right now (9:15 CST). I, like you, CherryCarol, slept in a little later today and probably missed any happenings :) I will look in later. Have a wonderful Sunday everyone.

Charis

Every weekend i used to visit this site, because i wish for enjoyment, for the reason that this this web site conations actually good funny information too.

Bea Griffore

Good morning everyone. 7:35 am CST and the cam is offline. I checked in yesterday and every time it was offline then too. I wonder...working on the 2nd cam? Panning and zooming? Fine tuning some things? I guess we'll find out soon enought. At least we aren't missing any egg laying or hatching at this time. Pateince, I'm reminding myself.

Cristine, so glad you figured out that black and white bird. Immature red-headed woodpecker is awesome! I haven't seen a red-headed woodpecker in years! We get red-bellied, downey and hairy woodpeckers in our yard. How exciting for you!

Guess I might as well get some work done and have more coffee. HAGD

Bea Griffore

Oops, forgot to proof read previous post. I meant "enough" not "enought" - made me cringe when I saw that!

Still offline.
