Thanks for the update and your pictures are great as usual.

Mavis

Thank you for the update...

Diana

Photos are wonderful. Thank you for keeping us in touch.

Cristine

Mr. John....Appreciate the new photos and the update on the camera situation. Hoping to attend Bald Eagle days this weekend. Will you be there in person? I've attended a couple of times over the years. Once when our girls were young, we had our picture taken in a life-sized replica of an eagle nest, which was amazing! I will try to post it to Twitter under #alcoaeaglecam so maybe you all can see how huge it is!

So I did it, Mavis. I threw that glass of water in the air last night before I went to bed. It was amazing how it instantly vaporized and blew away! The wind is going down a little this morning and we are going to be above zero by this afternoon. (maybe 10?) Think I may actually get out and about. Getting cabin fever :) I think there must really be such a thing.

Have a great day, everyone.

Mavis

Cristine...are you serious??? I tried it last night and water hit the ground. This morning, after I got out of the shower...I remembered and wanted to try it again before the temp started rising. Soooo...in my wet hair and a glass of water...temp -6 and wind chill -26º I went out on the deck and tried it...nothing...just water hitting the ground. My wet hair was almost frozen stiff...fingers cold...but water hit the ground, not ice. Shucks!

Mr. John, you are too many miles away for me to attend Bald Eagle Days. It sounds like a fun event and Cherrycarol told us all about it last year. Liberty will lay 2 eggs this year. I know...you have to be there, in person, to enter the contest..but just letting you know...2 eggs this year! If I am wrong and there are 3...I will be happy, but there will be 2.

Suppose to get to a high of 9 today and our low tonight will be 9...a bit unusual I think. I'm a visitor to NC and not used to these temps...kind of exciting.

Cherrycarol

I will be there Sunday. MR. JOHN isn't always there. Maybe he'll be there this time. I'm going to the lock & dam tomorrow!! AT least there will be eagles for people to see this year, the ones that take the bus ride. Carol

Mavis

5:37 PM EST

Looks like we are online but hard to tell if I have a still picture or a live picture. I think it is live but no movement detected. No sound...maybe it is just my iPad. Will keep trying. Sure good to have the picture back.

Mavis

5:49 EST

Ok...the cam is live. I just saw two eagles flying above the trees along the river. It must be calm as nothing else is moving. NO sound. I'm sure Mr. John is on that, too.

Thank you for the picture, Mr. John.

R L ML

Lots of activity in the upper far left branches. At one time there were up to 10 there. Others flew into branches a bit closer in and one very close fly by. Too dark now to see.

Mavis

I saw that, R L...was amazed at the number of eagles around the nest area. Was fun to watch.

Cherrycarol

Good Morning Just saw an eagle fly up by camera that we're looking out of now. I shook. So it must be right next to it. Still pretty cold but I'm going down to the river anyway. I'll let u know what I see or post some pictures.

Mavis

8:53 AM EST

I missed that CC...right now I don't see any movement around the nest...they must all be at the river looking for breakfast. Will probably see them later.

Today is warm up day. Already 22º here....actually feels pretty good without the wind blowing and the sun shinning.

Good morning everyone.

beamg

Good morning everyone. I'm really late getting here today. Good to read all the comments as usual.

I am having a heck of a time trying to log in here with FB. The cam for me has that circle thing going on. Yesterday I spent hours trying to get my laptop to cooperate. Today I might threaten to throw it out the window!

Cristine, isn't it neat how that hot water vaporizes so fast? I did that many times when my kids were growing up and they never wanted to stop even when we were freezing!
MAVIS - I don't understand why you couldn't get this to work! Did you have boiling water? Heat a cup in the microwave to boiling, or very close to boiling, and quickly get outside and toss the water up. At the 22° you have it should still work.

Update on the WCs: You probably all know they arrived safely at St. Marks and were greeted by 2 of the WCs from last year who had arrived on their own before this year's class got there. Well, yesterday 2 adults from the Class of 2009 flew in!!! So, there are now 4 adults who are hanging out with this year's 8! And the cam is on....live!

Ok, going to see if I can get the Alcoa cam to work for me.

beamg

YEA! I have the cam feed going now and there is an adult in the nest, calling out and eating! Saw a flyby of a juvie. When the adult was calling out I could see it's breath!!! THAT was amazing!

Cherrycarol

It was. Looks like Liberty in the nest with breakfast.

Mavis

Bea...NOT SO FAST in throwing the laptop out the window. My video would freeze every few seconds...not minutes. Was very aggravating and thought it was just me. I guess Medicom is like it was before...takes forever to get back to where we were. So glad to have a picture, though.

I saw the freezing breath of Liberty. Tried to capture screen shots but it just does not show up too good. Saw several eagles flying near the river and a couple land. A lot of action this morning. Justice arrived at the nest too late for breakfast...but Liberty waiting a long time before giving up on him and finishing it off herself.

I used cold water..did not use boiling water ...will try it again...Thanks...I feel like a kid doing this...fun!!

Bea Griffore

YEA! Login using FB finally worked and I feel like my old self again. I forgot Alcoa is dealing with MediaCom. Guess I won't throw out the computer just yet.

A pic has been posted on OT of the frozen breath of L. I couldn't get it fast enough either. It was pretty awesome to see! Currently the nest is empty.
bbl

Mavis

12:54 Jan 8th

WE HAVE SOUND!! Even the spainish music sounds good to me.

One eagle sitting on branch by nest. I hear another one calling out from sight unseen.

Looks like we are back to normal now....that was FAST! Thank you!!

Cristine

11:45CT Good morning! (Still morning for 15 more minutes, I guess) Liberty or Justice sitting very still on the branch in front of the camera to the right of the screen. I thought it was a still shot until I saw her/his head move and heard the music. The Hispanic radio station is coming in loud and clear today with NO wind! What a welcome relief. A high of 12 is very tolerable with no wind. It's only going to get to -2 tonight. I'll take it!
Looking forward to an afternoon at home today so I can look in once in a while. Nice to have the camera working again. Thanks Mr. John :)

darlene.nichols

I heard that there was a huge sun spot (three times the size of earth) flying off in space directly to ward earth.....these sun spots very frequently interfere with satellite emissions....could be why some are experiencing comp problems . Also, there are supposed to be spectaculer Northern lights tonite and tomoro. These sun spots can cause all kinds of electronic havoc

Cristine

Darlene...Thanks for the info. That's good to know. I was wondering why my connection to the internet kept failing this afternoon. I wish there was some way I could see the Northern lights sometime. Actually, I just recently added that to my "Bucket List" :) I may have to make a trip to Canada.

Cherrycarol

A juvie flew onto a branch in the left corner. Can hardly see it. Blends in with the trees. I went to lock & dam 15 Davenport, where John took these pictures. & 100's there. Then a guy said they were back at 14 too. So I went there too. A lot there too. Got pictures. Not bad out when the wind isn't blowing.

Cherrycarol

The paper said we have around 2,550 eagles here. They are everywhere. Just driving you see them flying on the ice & in trees. Has to be the most ever. 14 2 weeks ago there was hardly any. But lots now. 100's. Awesome! If you live here u have go look. You can sit in your car & watch.

Cherrycarol

That was weird. Looked like Justice in nest & a huge juvie sitting next to him on a branch. gone now.

Sherri S

Glad to hear Liberty and Justice are surviving just fine in the frigid temps. Hopefully, the camera will be up soon.

Bea Griffore

Cam offline this morning. :(

Good morning everyone.

Eagle Fan

Why is there music/talking (sounds Spanish) jumbled with the wind noise?

darlene.nichols

Good morning all....its a beautiful day in (my) neighborhood....the temp is going into the 40's today, the sun filters thru the clouds, snd the hair in your nose doesn't freeze when you go outside! CAROL. I've never even seen one eagle in nature much less hundreds....the sight of them must be overwhelming.....breathtaking! Hope everyone is getting this reprieve .......haave a good day!...P.S. Cristine....my phone is acting all wonky today ....must be my connection to the internet......I would love to see the Aurora too....also on my bucket list.....trouble is, I'm running out of time to do all the things on there

Bea Griffore

Darlene, I havenever seen the Aurora either but would love to! My daughter saw it a few years ago on her way home from work. She called me so excited I could hardly understand what she was talking about. And that was right in Iowa, west of the Alcoa nest! That's what threw her - she had no idea it could be seen in Iowa! Of course her call came too late for me to be able to see it. More recently a photographer from the town 5 miles down the road saw it and got some awesome pics. I don't know how I missed that except I think it was during the night and the photographer knows how to read some reports that tell him when to expect the best time for viewing. Maybe someday..... Oh, also I want to thank you for the info on sun spots and what it can be doing to our electronic stuff. Things seem to be working better today.

So happy the cam is back up and with sound!

EAGLE FAN, the music/talking you are hearing is something we noticed last year. Mr. John has said it is somehow "bleeding" into the sound we are getting at the nest. I'm hearing sawing and a train right now, along with that music.
bbl

Mavis

Bea, I am hearing the chain saw now...2 hours later than you reported. Just hope they know to stay away from the nest tree!! Do not see any action. They may be out fishing or the chain saw may be keeping them at bay...it is not your everyday usual noise.

I wanted to look for the Northern Lights last night but did not want to sit outside not knowing where or when to look. If anyone has good info..if it is not too late...let me know...I would love the chance to see it.

Darlene...you sound like me!! I guess I have already done the important things...the rest is icing on the cake...but the icing is the sweetest!!

Eagle Fan...after not having sound for most of the day...I am proud to hear the Hispanic music! Just wish they would play some classical to soothe the nerves.

John Riches

The railroad is working on a spur line about a half-mile north of the nest and I think the chain saw noiuse is carrying from that work. It is not really close to the nest.

Cherrycarol

Thanks Mr John. I went to the river on the IL. side. L or J was sitting on the tippy top of the tree in his or her favorite spot. Could barely see him, its pretty hazy out & snow again! River is still open a little in front of the nest tree. Saw a few others around. L & J just shared a fish together.

Marcella Rich

Mr. John, Have ya'll ever thought of making calendars using the pictures of the eagles. Trust me...they would sell !!! Wish I had one for this year.

darlene nichols

Hey everyone....remember what I said earlier today?.......FORGET IT......its snowing here again

Cristine

Good morning! I am actually on here early for once. Where is everyone? L or J flew into the nest. A juvie just did a very slow fly-by, (almost in slow motion:)) acting like he wanted to land in the nest, then they both left. Lo J is back now pecking at something in the nest...breakfast I guess.
I heard that chain saw yesterday, too. It sounded very close by, and I also saw a person walking around under the nest. That made me a little nervous. Did anyone else see that?
Going to warm up today and get some rain later on. That snow in the nest should melt off. Have a great day!

Cherrycarol

Good morning Just saw 2 juvies in the nest & Liberty has been sitting on her perch. She finally chased them away.

beamg

Good morning all! Boy am I late again today. Good to hear the reason for the sawing noises we heard. Once again I can't login here using my FB ID. I give up. Must still be the sunspots?

Oh, something must have landed on the branch the cam is on - it just shook like there's a big wind. I was hearing eagle calls while trying to sign but don't see anything right now.
bbl

Cristine

O.K. so what's going on now? I see a man in the background at the top of a boom truck doing something in the tops of the trees. Always something interesting happening :)

Cristine

Hmmm......Well, now there are two.

John Riches

I was not aware of it until just now, but apparently the activity you see in the backgroud is some contract work being done by Mid-American Energy to clean up some limbs around some of their power lines. I am told it will not last long.

Cristine

Thank you, Mr. John for the information :)

darlene.nichols

Sounds like they are shredding branches now

beamg

Mr. John thank you for keeping us informed. Inquiring minds want to know........

I missed the tree trimming but now I see...rain drops on the camera? and I just saw an adult eagle fly through the background. I have to say again that I love this view and seeing all the activity we have always wondered about.

I tried to post this and got a notice my session had timed out. Just in time I remembered Mavis's hint about "copy and paste" before refreshing. It worked great! Thanks Mavis.

Cherrycarol

Raining like crazy & the birds r singing like it's spring. How I wish!! This will open up the river some more.

Cristine

A lot of action at the nest. Been watching Liberty or Justice sitting on the branches close to the nest for some time now, and a couple of deer just walked through the picture! Yay! I finally got to see the deer! Then to top it all off, L (or J) just did a poop-shoot :) It's so nice that it's almost 5:00 and still light out.

R L ML

The one on the branch left and a bit later both L and J were in the nest for a short time. Must be a bit clearer there now as I can see the lights across the river. Didn't see anything there most of the day.

R L ML

Everybody must be sleeping in this morning since there are no comments. A couple juvies in and around the nest between 9:30 and 10:00. Both in the nest then one flew away and was later on a couple branches near the visible camera. Both flew away, but then one back on the nest.

Cristine

Good morning all. Juvie still in the nest by himself, doing a little minor housekeeping by moving some smaller sticks around. He tried to pull one of the larger twigs out of the side, but couldn't do it :) Already 33 degrees at the nest. Yay. Above freezing! Going to be a lovely 44 tomorrow with sunshine. Oh, the birds will be singing then! Spring-like. Think we will try and get to "Bald Eagle Days tomorrow." Would love to go on the eagle watching tour they offer. It will be a great day for it! Carol.. maybe we will run into each other there? Bea.... is it too far for you to come?
Have a nice weekend everyone.

Cristine

Here's an interesting little story I stumbled upon this morning.... about all of the Eagles in the Q.C. right now. www.kwqc.com/story/24421629/more-eagles-visitors-in-the-qca

Annette Kryske

9:49 AM PST.Good Morning Folks: I guess the same Juvie is in the nest that you all have been talking about. Maybe it is one of ours from last year (who knows)?Looks like it is waiting for some action.Just got back from our morning walk. The temp was 57 on our porch. When I got up at 6:45 AM,it was 48. It will probably be in the 70's by noon. I wish I could send you some of our weather , and you can send us some needed rain. Have a nice day. I hear chirping , but no trains, and lots of noisy wind.

R L ML

Lots of action today, juvies in and out and on different branches. One time there was a juvie in the nest and one on the branch right in front of me. An adult flew in and neither budged. Later the one on the nest left and either it or another juvie flew in in front of the adult. This time the adult asked it to leave and it did.

Mavis

4:20 EST Jan 11

R L, I saw much of the same action without the adults a couple of hours earlier than your report. 2 eaglets on nest/branch with one to two eaglets on branches just outside of camera range but near nest. I just saw a couple of flying eagles near the nest but never landed.

It looks and sounds really cold so I looked of NOAA forecast:

Temp is 31º with wind chill of 18º Winds W at 23 mph.

The forecast for the next couple of days:

Tonight Partly cloudy, with a low around 18. West wind 5 to 15 mph becoming southwest after midnight.

Sunday Mostly sunny, with a high near 41. Breezy, with a south wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Sunday Night Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28. South wind 10 to 15 mph becoming west after midnight.

Monday Partly sunny, with a high near 32.

Monday Night A 20 percent chance of snow after 7pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 21.

Tuesday A 30 percent chance of snow, mainly after 7am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 28.

Cherrycarol

Went to the lock & dams & the ice is almost all gone. So not as many eagles. They like sitting on the ice. They were all in Il. Hampton area soaring. Illinik Park. Just sat & watched them flying all over the place. Had to be 50 or more.

Cherrycarol

Good morning. I hear 2 talking to each other. I'm going to Bald Eagles day today. 40 today which is good for us but not for watching eagles. Still quite a few by the Arsenal! What a pretty sunrise. Have a good day. Carol

Cherrycarol

Both L & J in the nest

Bea Griffore

Good morning everyone. Guess I missed a day at the nest yesterday. But there's lots of action this morning. I just saw 3 juvies in the nest and one adult on the branch in front of the camera. They seem to all be getting along just fine! Now 2 juvies left and the others are still there. One juvies just flew in, tried landing on the nest and changed his mind and flew off again.
bbl

Mavis

10:16 AM EST Jan 12th

Just too much action to describe it all...at one time, there were 3 juvies on the nest and Justice on the side branch. One juvie, who was the first there, did some work on the nest and Justice did not mind at all...unreal. I refreshed before I posted this...did not want to post over anyone.

Earlier this morning...A lot of action on nest.... Liberty comes in...few minutes later Justice joins here. When I refreshed, a juvie was there standing beside Justice. Both L and J did nothing to discourage the juvie. L and J worked on the nest a little then the juvie few away after a few more minutes.

I saw a lot of eagles/eaglets in the area...a lot of action still going on!! Fun watching...

Nasgab

It looked like they were being mugged by 4 or 5 younger thugs, I mean eagles. She repelled them every time one of them tried to land on the nest. Tons of eagles in the QCA this year.

Sherri S

Good morning! I see someone sitting in the next and boy is the wind blowing. Is that what the polar blast sounds like?

R L ML

Sherri S. The polar blast is past and the temp is now in the 40's in Iowa. This is just a normal Iowa wind.

Cristine

Yep! That's what the polar blast sounds like, however this strong wind is from the south, bringing us some much warmer temps :) The ice and snow is melting off the roads and even yards and fields. Feels like summer compared to what we have had. I wasn't able to witness all of the action in the nest this morning, but I do see a juvie right now sitting in the branch above the old camera. He has an almost white head, but not quite. I was hoping to go to Rock Island today to "Bald Eagle Days" but my farmer husband is pushing the melting ice and snow out of the barnyard. have to do it while it's warm enough. Carol.... you will have to give me a report :)

Cherrycarol

Back from bald eagle days. So many eagles flying all over the QC area. Lovin the wind today. By the nest there is still some ice on the IL side & lots of eagles sitting on the ice. About 50 or so in a short area. I could see 12 or more soaring around the tree. Awesome to watch!!

Mavis

Cherrycarol...I believe you when you said there are eagles everywhere. They have certainly been around the nest today. Several juvies visited the nest, with L and J there. L/J did not seem to mind their presence but at one point, I saw Liberty defend the nest from an approaching juvie. I only saw her defend the nest the one time. I think I saw more action at the nest today than any other day that I can remember. Was exciting and fun.

L and J will be mating in 2 or 3 weeks with eggs being dropped in about 4 weeks. Hopefully everything will begin to return to normal by the time that happens. The juvies are cute and I'm hoping they are meeting their food needs. They aren't as experienced at the older eagles but they seem to look healthy enough.

Cherrycarol

gOOD MORNING. nOTHING GOING ON NOW. 37 today. The more cold we have the more eagles we get. This the most we have ever had here & the coldest it's been here in a long time too! Alcoa handed out cards so we can keep track of when the eggs r laid hatch,, loose there fuzz first flight & fledge. Pretty nice..

Cristine

10:45 CT Juvie laying down in the nest looking very much at home. He's the one with the "not-quite" white head. Maybe he is at home, one of Liberty and Justice's from a few years ago.

Nasgab

It's fascinating that it has so much white on it's back, chest and other parts, besides the head and tali of course.

Nasgab

An eagle sees a nest, any nest, and they just have to do something with it. They're like little versions of 'Monk' from TV, but with feathers.

Cristine

Great comparison, Nasqab! Love that show. Makes me smile :)

Cherrycarol

Good Morning. Juvie in the nest already 7 am

Mavis

8:40 AM EST Jan 14

Nest is empty right now with no eagles in sight. The sound if full with the smaller birds chirping all around. Snow is falling with some big flakes. I see snow in the nest and the ground is white again.

Cristine, I bet a good, fresh cup of coffee and a slice of your hot, homemade apple pie will be the winning combination around 3 o'clock this afternoon.

Good morning everyone.

Annette Kryske

6:46AM PST. Good Morning. A lone Juvie greeted me, as I turned on to Alcoa Land. He seems to e moving around the nest, and is probably thinking . where is everybody??? So am I, He is looks like he is taking off.He seems to be stuck in some of the twigs. There he goes. Me too.

Cristine

Buenos Dias everyone!
Look like Liberty all by herself in the nest. If you think the last few days were windy, just wait 'til today. Gusts up to 40 mph! Yikes.
Had a little light snow earlier this morning, but it's not going to amount to much. Up North they have a winter weather advisory.
Mavis.... that apple pie does sound good. I still have those apples in storage in my garage, so there are plenty to make some pies with. Wish you didn't live so far and you could join me. Watching the nest and eating pie. Great combination :)
Anybody heard from Bea lately? Worried 'bout her.
Cherrycarol.... did you happen to talk to Mr. John at bald Eagle days on Sunday? I so wish I could have been there. sounded like they had great crowds.
Whoa, I have had to turn my sound way down. that wind is getting wicked.
Have a great day, everyone!

Cherrycarol

10:30 An adult in the nest. Man that wind is awful!! The eagles r moving around more since the ice has melted. I see more flying now.

Mavis

That wind is wicked and tossing the nest about like it is a wad of paper. Saw L on the nest earlier just trying to hand on when a big juvie tried to enter the nest but decided to fly elsewhere. Liberty did nothing to stop the juvie...was just so darn windy for two of them there. I saw several fly-bys but not much else.

Cristine, Bea has posted on OT a few times. She is ok...probably busy. It is not like her to not post here, though. I'll send her a message and check on her.

One thing for sure about the Quad City area...wind blown hair has to be the "in" style!!

Cherrycarol

Mavis it might as well be. Holly cow it seems to be windy 90% of the time lately. Getting colder again. Only 19 tomorrow. Burr!

Cherrycarol

I saw an adult eagle flying on top of the hill coming home today. I wonder why it was way up here?

Cherrycarol

Another windy day! I hear them. good morning everyone!

Cristine

I am on early today, but see nothing going on yet. You are correct about the wind, and it's especially bad in open country. No amount of hairspray in the world will keep my hair in place, so I just have a "messy" style, or wear it in a clip in the summer :)

Today's high is only going to be 19 degrees. Tomorrow, chance of snow again. Today looks like another day when I have to keep the sound turned all the way down again :(

TK Jurkouich

Whats with the music in the background fromthe cam view that is far away?. Yall put in i-tunes for the Eagles. (Hay, if i was them, id enjoy it)

Stephanie

I kept up with this nest all last year, but I'm wondering why the eagles don't migrate for the winter. I know some do, and it sure seems cold enough for these to want to get away. Probably someone already answered this in the past, but I'm wondering...

Cherrycarol

Steph Eagles don't mind to cold they only want to be where there is food. So when it gets really frozen up north they come where there is open water. and here we have lock & dams & it is always open water around them. Saw 3 soaring around today. & they just keep going until I couldn't see them any more. The ice is pretty well gone now on the river.

Mavis

6:15 PM EST Jan 15th

Not much going on today. I only checked in 5 or 6 times, but each time the nest was empty. L or J just visited the nest briefly before taking off.

Getting some snow here for the past hour or so. Just a dusting so far but more is coming.

We should see more action on the nest in the coming weeks. I figure Liberty will be laying her eggs in little over 3 weeks...a lot to do to get the nest ready. Countdown will soon be here.

Sharon

2 juvies in the nest and a third on a nearby branch. One of them is tending to the nest, moving branches around. Maybe he is helping get it ready for his soon to be new siblings!

Stephanie

Thank you for the answer to my question, Carol. It sure makes sense. I saw some of the eagle migration tracking websites and they travelled very far south, certainly a lot further than they needed to go to find food. Or maybe it was the ospreys that went so far. I can't remember now. Either way, I'm looking forward so much to watching the happenings at this nest again this year. Except it's very addictive.

Stephanie

It's kind of sad that the juvies don't realize they will be kicked out of the nest for good soon, once Mom & Dad decide to expand their family once again. Obviously they've been spending a lot of time there. Time to grow up, I guess.

Cristine

Dark-headed juvie in nest busy preening herself. I can see several other eagles perched in the trees in the upper left corner background, including one with a white head (Liberty or Justice?) She is briefly joined by a little older juvie who has a whiter head, and is now is preoccupied with renovating the nest. Could it be they use their original nests as practice for the day when they build their own nests? It is sad Stephanie, that they won't be very welcome soon, after those eggs are laid :)
Have a good one, everyone.

Bea Griffore

Hello everyone.
I've been having a really hard time getting the cam feed to work for days now. I just get that darn circle thing going round and round. Finally just now got it working and the nest is empty. So good to read all the comments again and catch up.

Cristine, I'm watching. And I think I'm seeing snow flakes! Just a few but definitely snow flakes. Sorry to hear you were not able to go to Bald Eagle Days. I couldn't go either. I'm close enough, it just didn't work out.

Mavis, I agree about the wind-blown hair style. It's all the rage these days! And Cristine said it all - NO amount of hair spray makes it stay in place.

Well, guess it's time to get something accomplished. STEPHANIE you said it girl! Watching this nest is addictive! All of them I've tuned in to over the past few years have been that way for me. Best excuse ever not to dust!

Have a great day everyone! Hang on to your hats! And your hair!

Bea Griffore

FINALLY I see an adult in the nest. Looks like he/she is trying to hold it down in that wind. Brrrrr!

R L ML

Both were there for a long time. When the 1st one flew off the 2nd one settled down in the nest and was there for several minutes.

Bea Griffore

Good morning everyone! Once again I'm getting that spinning white circle on the cam view but it does look like there is an adult on the branch between the nest and the camera. Is anyone else getting that spinning circle? It happens way too often for me the last few days. :( I'll keep trying....

Cherrycarol

Good morning. another windy cold day. Bea when u get that circle & it won't stop just start over & it will work faster. Have a good day!

Bea Griffore

Hi Carol! I was ready to try Chuck's OT directions on getting rid of that circle - clear flash player history - and just like that before I even tried his suggestion the circle went away and the cam decided to work. I have to say I get so frustrated trying to make things work that I say a lot of bad words! Oh well, I'm getting the live feed now and I can always use Chuck's info at a later time if I have trouble again. I had tried your suggestion so many times already and it just wasn't working for me.

I'm seeing an empty nest now. bbl

Cristine

Good morning! Bea... so glad you are back. Missed your comments. It's so frustrating to get "the spinning circle" all the time. Sorry you weren't able to attend Bald Eagle Days either. I would have like to have one of those cards Cherycarol mentioned, to keep track of all of the coming events at the nest :)
Looks like a small band of snow flurries moving through the Q.C. area right now. Another "bad hair day" with gusts up to 25 mph. Only a high of 12, so wind chills will be back below zero. So tired of this winter. Tomorrow another 1-3 inches of snow. Oh, joy.
Nobody home at the nest. Will check in later.

Cristine

Nothing new to report except for the weather. Now it's 2-5 inches of snow for the Quad Cities area today. Windy, too. (Well, that's nothing new, is it?) I only saw a few eagles perched, and flying in the trees by the river when I first came on. Nothing at the nest. Anybody else?

Bea Griffore

Hi Cristine. I haven't seen any action except for blowing snow. Brrrrry looking and sounding. No, the wind is nothing new. It's been blowing since we moved to the QCA 37 years ago! That was my first impression of Iowa - the wind seems to never stop!

Jo

Hi all, I'll be reading and catching up on all the posts for a while since my last posting. Sorry haven't been around for a while. Fell a few weeks ago and doc thinks I fractured either a vertebrae in my low back or an inner corner of my hip so I've been out of commission for a while. Can't lay flat or still enough to get an MRI done and can't take "knock out" stuff to do it either 'cause of allergic reactions to stuff like that. So, I just have had to lay low and deal with it. Finally starting to feel better so I thought I'd pop in to say HI to every one! Can't wait til our Liberty and Justice have their new brood! Hope all are well and surviving all the snow and winds I've heard have been going through your areas! Be safe all!

Juvie in the snowy nest, jumping up and down with a small log.

Jo

Hi Judith, I see him/her too...wonder how long L & J will allow that! lol

Cristine

So good to hear from you, Jo. Am sorry about your back/hip. That is terrible. We (and the eagles) are here to keep you company during your recuperation :)
It's snowing "to beat the band" right now at the nest. No eagles in sight. Judith, that made me laugh when you mentioned the juvie with the small log :)

Yea it's snowing again but at least the roads are good. At least here in East Moline. Just fed my birds & they are loving it. the food that is. I have 6 cardinals out here. & I saw a hawk or owl zoom down into the woods. Glad your feeling better Jo. I have wondered where you've been. Carol
