Nice pictures. It looks like a beautiful day. I love the picture of the eagle launching off. Hopefully you won't get too much flooding out there. Take care and thanks for the pictures.

Diana

Your photos are absolutely stunning.
Thank you for them and the continuing joy of watching the eagles.

Cristine

The picture of Liberty or Justice is incredible! Thank you. Appreciate the info and the shot of the flooding also. I love seeing the geese and the ducks enjoying the water.

Cherrycarol

Love the photo of J or L. Awesome! There's some of those geese we hear all the time. I don't think it's going to flood too much. Carol

R L ML

These 2 pictures and the ones on Facebook are really great. Thanks for sharing.

~Sher~

Appears "Rudy" is going to be the name of the eaglet..

Am guessing only the people in the Davenport area are familiar with this gentleman but nice that he is being remembered & honored..

Mavis

Mr. John...that is a perfect picture for Good Friday. The first thought to mind when I saw it was.."what a nice, fresh start"! That is Liberty...and it is like she is taking off with a clean, fresh start, with the new buds bursting forth, a new baby in the nest, and signs of Spring in the air. For me, you captured the moment.

I hope all the Alcoa family and the fans of Liberty and Justice embrace the significance and enjoy the celebration of this Holy weekend.

Tracy Vigus

Totally wonderful picture of Her taking off. Love that one very much. Your pictures are so nice. I see the sunshine, buds on tree and some grass greening up. Truly is a beautiful beginning indeed. Thanks Mr John!

Judith Hart

Little Peeper looks like she has the goose bumps, it must be her feathers coming through....I'll bet they itch.
I think she just realized she's all alone!

Mavis

7:25 AM EDT

Both cams offline.

Cherrycarol

6:40 am I wonder why these cams are going off line so much??? :( Another beautiful day. Happy Easter to everyone!!

Roger

Both views are up and working for me @ 8:29am. However TTV has no sound for me but NV is working.

Cristine

Little Peeper still snuggling underneath Liberty this morning. Hasn't decided to come out and play yet. Warming up to at least 70 today!

Coleen Perilloux Landry

It was windy last night and Liberty was busy making sure all was well with the little one. I watched her several times during the night.

Judith Hart

A nice fresh fish was just delivered, peepers eating it already.

Roger S.

Both views now have sound for me. Beautiful day.

Mavis

5:08 PM EDT

That was just too cute and too funny! Pee Wee was sleeping and Mom kept nudging him under his wing to wake him up. Took him awhile but he finally got up. Looked around...turned around...and just when Mom put her head down...yep...a PS right on top of Mom's head! That'll teach her! She decided to forget his supper and sat on him!! I had to laugh, it was so funny!

Cherrycarol

Darn Mavis I missed that! They sure do a lot of funny things. All alone again. I wish they'd pull out some on the wide view. So we could see where they are sitting. There will be more of that. Got the doors open. Boy is that ever nice.

Coleen Perilloux Landry

The eaglet has been by itself for a long time, 15 minutes for sure. Walking all over the nest, too close to the edge for me.

Mavis

About time you had some decent weather, Carol. Hope it lasts now, and no more winter!

I'm like you. Been trying to figure out why it is so hard to see what's going on in the nest this year. It is the same camera mount...but the angle or something makes it hard to see as much as we did last year. Maybe it is my imagination, and we have only one baby to watch instead of 2 or 3. I will tell you this...we definitely have some cardio workouts coming soon. That baby likes to get close to the edge and there is not much of a wall on the edge!

Trying to get a head start tonight for my dinner tomorrow. I would rather just sit here and watch...but I have to get with it. It is easier to go out..and tempting...but I like the keep the special days special...so it is dinner at home!

Happy Easter everyone...

Judith Hart

Goodness, still alone....I wonder if one parent thinks the other is there???

Darlene Nichols

L and J are both feeding jr......s/he is going to be so fat s/he'll never get airborne!.............Happy Easter and Happy Passover to all of you !!

Cherrycarol

I think the close up view is different because the nest is higher & closer to the y branch. Pretty soon it will be even with it, AHH Yes spring is finally here!! That little guy ate so much. WOW! Your right Darlene. But it's growing really fast. Happy Easter to everyone. Carol

Oma K

LOL, I'm getting a Norton Security Alert on the TTV screen this morning saying that my subscription expires in 6 DAYS! Does anyone else see this message, or is it only on my MacBook?

Happy Easter eagle watchers!

Joyce

EGADS, MOVE THAT LITTLE ONE AWAY FROM THE EDGE! I CAN'T WATCH. IT'S TOO EARLY TO FLEDGE. ENJOY OUR JOYOUS DAY. THE TURKEY LURKEY FROM CALIFORNIA.

Judith Hart

Happy Easter

We're back....I better talk fast before I disappear! The geese seem to be flying close to the nest lately, they got really loud L & J ducked, I saw some fly behind the nest.
I saw Justice fly in from the rear of the nest TTV carrying a huge fish, got a good look at the talons locked on the fish, they look like ice hooks.

Cherrycarol

Such a beautiful day I went out to another nest I know about here & saw mom feeding & sitting ( I'm sure on babies). The other one was not far away. I'll post some pic. on OT. Looks like little one is sleeping now.

Coleen Perilloux Landry

My Easter dinner guests had a wonderful time watching Liberty and her little one. They'd never seen such before.

Cherrycarol

Little one is passed out!

Mavis

Carol...this big one is about to pass out too! Been a long, but good day. Hope everyone had a good day.

I was just watching the nest and you are right...little one is still down. He/she stays so full. Movements in the nest will increase as the days go by...sure hope some repairs to the wall will take place before then.

I hear that sound again....am thinking it may be a coyote. Not sure, but that kind of looks like Justice on the nest right now.

Coleen Perilloux Landry

It's almost 11 p.m. and the little peep is all alone in the nest.

Cristine

10:35 P.M. Nest time. Liberty just took off leaving the "wee one" alone in the dark. Very unusual. When I first looked in, she was paying a lot of attention to something off to the right of the nest, and then I could hear some eagle chatter after she took off. Now I am just hearing some geese.

Cristine

10:52 And Liberty is back.

Mavis

11:01 AM EDT April 21st

Wonder where the white feathers came from?

Wonder where the white feathers came from?

Mavis

12:16...can't believe that comment went through...twice!!

When I checked in this morning, PeeWee was sleeping alone and his bif foot with wiggling. Was amusing to watch. He has definitely grown and eats all the time. Wish he had a playmate.

Saw grosbeaks at my feeder this morning. Two rose breasted and one blue grosbeaks...a first for me.

Good Monday morning, everyone

Mavis

2:31 PM EST

Guess I am the only one posting today. Everytime I post...which has only been twice...I get a pop up error message...then a little while later...not immediately...but a while later...my post appears. I just got a text from someone that said she has been trying to post all morning.

Am I in the Twilight Zone??

Cristine

Going to try this again. Very frustrating not being able to post anything. I can see why it seems like you are in the Twilight Zone, Mavis! The little Peeper has walked himself over to the edge of the nest where the twigs are. Yikes. Don't go any farther little guy! Liberty is in the nest, but back behind the "Alcoa branch" where you can't see her on the NV. I wonder how many times last year, before we had the TTV, that Liberty or Justice was sitting there and we just didn't know it?

Mavis

Thank you to the powers that be....I am not alone!! HELLO, Cristine!! So good to hear from you!

Every time I post, I get a error pop up..but the posts have been going through. I am signed in to Typepad but I know you aren't. Don't know why some posts get through but most don't. Kept thinking Mr. John would throw us an update but he may not be able to post either.

Someone said they clicked on Typepad and saw tweets that said they were aware of the problem and are working on it. I'm afraid to click on it ...afraid it will log me out and I will be locked out.

I know that the cardio workouts are just around the corner. That little tiger already weighs about 4 lbs...and can just 'flop' around right now . Both L and J are keeping his crop full!

I saw 2 Rose Breasted and 1 Blue Grosbeaks at my feeder today. I got so excited because I have never seen a blue one before. Last week I saw my first Indigo Bunting. I guess this mixed seed that I buy attracts more than just 'trash' birds!

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend...can't wait to hear from everyone....this Twilight Zone is no fun place to be. I bet Judy will come in grumpy!!

Mavis

5:34 PM EDT

Mr. John just tweeted about the typepad problem and hopes they get it fixed soon. For those that can tweet...he suggested tweeting until it is fixed. He knows I can't say much with 250 characters. Guess I will have to learn the shorthand for words if I do that. That sure opens up a whole new can of worms...one wrong letter and you can end up saying some pretty wrong stuff!! I stay in enough trouble. I tweeted my very first tweet yesterday!! That was a big deal for me. Someone had to talk me through the process...and do some adjustments to my account. Seems like I had it set so no one but me could see my tweets!! Maybe I should have kept it that way. If anyone wants a link to a self teaching class on tweeting...written by one of our own...let me know.

Little one looks like he is in a food coma...Liberty is breathing (panting) so I wonder if she is hot. I hear geese honking...crickets...and lots of sirens.

I sure miss you guys!

Cristine

The geese have just been going nuts! Liberty sitting on the edge of the nest, watching the show.

Cristine

Oh, wow. I can't believe that last comment got posted!

Cristine

We are fixed!!

Judith Hart

Finally Cristine?...Nope, still can't get on, I saw where Typepad is having a problem.
You and Mavis are the only ones, I think you both have the only two keys.
Our little one will be 3 weeks old on Wednesday. I'm trying to figure out how much she weighs now, I'm guessing close to 4 pounds. Comparing that weight to a 4lb. roasting chicken, she's a fairly good size.
I hear Blue Jays in the background, I have them at my feeders now...they chase away all the other birds.
Okay, I can't post...I'll save it for later.
Okay Mavis already posted about the weight.....Just adding on until I get on....Ho Hum
Looks like a thunderstorm just went through...another small one on the way...Ho Hum

Did I make it?

Alicia Lawrence

The name PATRIOT made a lot of progress today thanks to those who have supported my first grade class!!! They had such a fun time today voting themselves! Hopefully we can keep up the progression! VOTE FOR PATRIOT!

Cristine

You made it, Judy. So are you grumpy? :)

Mavis

Shhhh, Cristine....maybe she will forget she is naturally grumpy!!

Alicia...good for you and your class! They have learned to campaign and vote to support what they want. Good lesson. They need to know, too, that sometimes the best one doesn't win. That is a hard lesson, even for adults! And sometimes...the best one...is not their choice. Life is hard...but sounds like you are doing good. Regardless of the outcome...they at least made their voice count...and that is what counts! I can handle any of the names on the list except Pilgrim. I can't say that name without thinking of turkeys!

MN Bound now has a duck egg in their nest bowl. If that egg hatches...we will all be on Prozac...even the eagles!

Mavis

Alicia...I just checked the voting. OMG! Patriot went from 3rd to 2nd...and Skylar had a commanding lead over Patriot this morning. Impressed! If I run for office...I want you and your class to campaign for me!! Way to go! I appreciate a good clean campaign. My choice is not in the top two...but I'm happy with whatever name is chosen, except Pilgrim!

Congratulations to Ms. Alicia's class on a job well done today! See, you can make a difference!

cherrycarol@mchsi.com

I'm going to try & see what happens.

cherrycarol@mchsi.com

I had to do the # thing to get it to post. So it still isn't right. O well. One thing I think is so cute is when our little one yawns. Too cute. Very humid today but got a little rain we needed. Alicia Great your kids got to vote. If u do it every day it might make it. I like Patriot!! Carol

Alicia Lawrence

THANK YOU! Ya'll made me feel so good! We were still in third place when we left school today, so they are going to be SOO excited tomorrow! The funny thing is, they said they would be happy just coming in 2nd, but I don't know- we may just make it!!! Fingers crossed everyone!

Carol

Alicia. I'll vote for Patriot. It fits all the other names that our family has had. Love hearing the crickets. I noticed them yesterday when I was by the river.

Skedaddle

Did I miss her or has LIberty been gone from the nest for just hours? It seems to be about time for her to take over for the night. Just call me worry-wart.

Mavis

Skedaddle, Lib might be taking the night off. If she is, she may still pop in later just to get on to Justice about something. It is easy to worry about them when they stay gone for long periods of time.

It's about my bedtime too. I noticed the wind was picking up at the nest a little while ago. Haven't heard from Judy on any bad weather...but normal weather is bad in IA. That much I've learned.

Any..I'm going to bed and probably worry about that duck egg in that eagle's nest in MN. Goodnight, y'all.

Carol

Baby is all alone again. I don't know how long. Going to a sunny day today. I guess L & J will leave it alone more now that it gets bigger. I'm sure ones close by like I saw Sunday. Have a good day. I'm taking my puter to work.

Mavis

Good morning, Carol.

Am watching a rose breasted grosbeaks at my feeder. That is such a pretty bird. I have a blue one that is a regular visitor, too.

Parent is back on nest. This morning, I watched at Lib woke up...stretched..and flew off. PeeWee looked up and around...then tucked his head behind his wings and went back to sleep. He stayed that way for a while then his head "slipped" off his back and woke him back up. That was funny. He will be 3 weeks old tomorrow...first time I've watched them tuck their head behind their back at such a young age.

Voting...OMG! So surprised at what took place yesterday and last night. Patriot moved up by about 6,000 votes while all the others moved by less than a 1,000. Skylar lost a commanding 2nd place position to Patriot. Rudy, for the first time, may be in a real battle for the win. I don't know what is happening, but this seems to be a real contest. I've said this before...I'm not rooting for any name in particular. However, I do not care for Pilgrim (turkey day), and Majesty reminds me of the English monarch that we fought to free ourselves from. I voted my choice and am just observing this year. I gotta say...looks like the race is on! I appreciate most that this race is clean this year...not the trashing we've had in the past. Way to go!!

Good morning, everyone. Good to have Typepad working again!

alicia Lawrence

There has been some references to myself and my class, therefore, I thought this would be a great opportunity to tell everyone a little more about us! We are a title I school in Norfolk, Virginia. In March we learned about the American symbols and patriotism, this is when we began watching the eagle cameras! The kiddos quickly got addicted and asked to see L&J all the time! We watched everyday up until the hatching! I kid you not, they would rather watch the livefeed instead of going outside most days. We have bonded as a class over these eagles. It is amazing to establish such an interest, and in something that we can all be excited about! No need to worry about them being upset if PATRIOT doesn't win. Most of my babies are from lower income households, so they literally appreciate EVERYTHING! They are SO proud of themselves at this point, so in any case we are already winners!

Cristine

I think we have ourselves a good old-fashioned horse-race! I stayed up a little late and watched the percentages climb, and knew before I went to bed that Ms. Alicia's class was going to be VERY excited this morning. I told myself I wasn't going to comment on the name selections this year, but in any case I usually find myself rooting for the underdog :)

Mavis.... wish I could see your grosbeaks! I don't think I have ever had those at my feeder. Maybe they don't come this far North. I'll have to look it up.

NV off-line. TTV has a notification across the screen.

Gorgeous blue skies this morning. Love the bird sounds in the Spring. All of my robins (three pairs) are the first ones up in the morning, and the last ones to bed at night. Love hearing them talk to each other.

Have a great day!

Mavis

MN Bound duck egg in the nest bowl is bothering me! I looked it up...duck eggs incubate 21 to 31 days....and require 99.5º for incubation temperature. Well...so do eagles...99.5º. I sure hate to see that egg hatch...can see nothing good coming from it. I think ducks swim before they fly! Don't think they eat much red meat either. I love to watch baby ducklings. I raised a brood of Mallards once...so cute. Nope...don't think I can watch that nest. I've only been there once this season...going to keep it that way. Can you imagine the reaction if that baby hatches and "quacks" just one time??? OMG...I cannot go there!! I have stayed away since surviving the Harmon drama...sure can't take a Donald Duck drama.

NV is offline and TTV has a pop up in the center. Ok...wonder what is up at Decorah....

Cristine

Mavis....... I don't think you have to worry about that duck egg anymore. I went to that nest site yesterday and it was nowhere to be found. Even watched the three "little ones" being fed, all lined up in a row. SO cute. The chatter is that maybe the parents ate the egg. I should have told you last night so you could sleep :)

Mavis

Cristine...good news!! Thanks! I was so worried..that I looked up incubation temperatures. Whew! That would not have been pleasant.

Judith Hart

I have news for you on the MN Bound nest. The duckie egg is still there,
the last hatchling is incubating it, I saw it.... QUAAACK!...

Judith Hart

Now we're on Quack Watch!

Mavis

Not funny, Judy! Oh my! This is not good.

Anne Armstrong

C/mon mama or daddy, push that little one back into his/her divet! Making me nervous here!

Bobbie

Little one has really grown! Sitting beside parent near edge of nest, hope he/she has good balance!

Cristine

They must have been hiding that duck egg in the grass yesterday at MN bound :) Yikes. I just saw it, too! How do they know it's a duck egg, anyway?

Mavis

Cristine...they saw the egg when they were lunching...it popped out.

Judy sent me a picture of the egg...will post on alcoa twitter

Bobbie

Mom/Dad doing some house cleaning with little one helping. So cute!

janeoswalt

that is an AWESOME picture!

Mavis

janeoswalt...what picture? I went back to see what was posted.

Cristine...I just sent you a picture via email of the egg before it landed in the nest. Picture was taken by Gloria K.

Patriot was about 9,000 votes behind yesterday (I think). It is only 3,700 votes behind now. What a race..and this will go one thru Sunday!!

The only way to get rid of that pop-up before the weekend is to uninstall Norton or renew it. Being corporate, it probably out of Mr. John's hands.

Ok...I'm just along for the ride...but that voting is getting serious! About an hour ago, Patriot was about 3,600 votes behind Rudy...yesterday...it was (I think) a little over 9,000 votes behind. Rudy is beginning to move and is about 4,400 ahead now. I wonder if Solo or Stormy can make a comeback too! Maybe we can have a write-in....Hunter doesn't sound bad! Alright..alright...I'm just joking!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that by the time I hit the post button, typepad doesn't crash again!

Mavis

Oophs...Patriot was about 3,700 votes behind a little over an hour ago...now Rudy if pulling up and Patriot is about 4,400 votes behind...unless it has changed again in the last 20 minutes! That report in the first part of my post above was a comment I started before Typepad crashed on me!!
