Cherrycarol

Congratulations to Alcoa!! We are so lucky to have you in our community! My business is downtown East Moline & we are trying to get things better there. More people moving in with there businesses & updating there buildings!! Carol

Judith Hart

Justice just brought in a nice curved stick and placed it in the spot we worry about.

Skedaddle

This is the first time I've seen Roly-Poly alone at night.

Cristine

Me too, Skedadaddle. I'll just bet if we could see anything on the TTV, we would spy Miss Liberty sitting on a branch very close by :)

Coleen Perilloux Landry

I am sure Liberty is on that branch that we saw in one of the photos Mr. John posted. Not too far away. Wonder what Rudy will do when she wakes up alone.

Skedaddle

It probably got too snug trying to sleep with Pudge.

Cherrycarol

Justice in the nest digging up something. He was pecking at Rudy & she pecked him back. LOL 86 today. Holly Cow. Looks like rain too.

Skedaddle

I think she was either eating ants or sine times slinging them away!

Abigail

Hi. We are new to eagle watching and have come to love this eaglet. Rudy is a nice official name but we've been using Baby Huey instead. Remember that cartoon?

Wendy

I also had been thinking Baby Huey, but didn't want to offend his/her parents. : )... also I have become so invested that I can't bear to watch when Rudy is so close to the edge!

Cristine

Oh, Baby Huey is great, Abigail :) I am glad you commented.

Liberty just brought in something very small and gray. Not sure if bird or mammal, but sure didn't take very long to feed it to Rudy.

Now she has jumped up to the Alcoa Branch.

Hope we don't have any severe storms the next few days. I know we are in the risk area. Yikes.

Cristine

Just checked on Berry College baby. She has jumped up and is now sitting on her Y Branch, too! She is so big, I think bigger than both her parents!

Bea Griffore

Good morning everyone.

Either L or J is with Rudy and I'm wondering if it has started to sprinkle at the nest since Rudy has her head all tucked in under mom or dad. It has sprinkled at my house with a couple thunder rumbles. It doesn't look wet at the nest just yet. I think storms are coming later today with a high of 86° predicted. Could get steamy if it rains but gets that warm.

Today is the 3rd day I have had Baltimore Orioles at my hummingbird feeder! But no hummers yet. I sure wish the orioles would nest close by but it seems in the past they have just migrated through my area. They're gorgeous!

Cristine

Love how Rudy is still not too big to cuddle under Mom.

Darlene Nichols

gm all.........was just checking on Rudy (aka Pudge) and noticed that L or J is sitting on her head.....can't fit anymore than that under parent ? Bea......I've got hummers but I think I'm too far east to get Balt Orioles, However, I'm going to stop at the supermarket and buy an orange today. One of the bird magazines said to hang one on a wire coat hanger (cut the long wire at the bottom and bend the ends up so the orange doesn't fall off)......the article said that if the orioles don't come to it other birds will so it won't be wasted. Will report back on whether or not it works

Mavis

11:50 AM EDT

Rudy is alone on the nest now...balled up and sleeping. She is 5 weeks old today...Happy Birthday, Rudy. You should be getting your "legs" any time now.

Berry eaglet is stunning. He is still standing on the limb he likes to step up onto. He shows off his wings and is becoming quite the little man.

Checked on the blue birds at Berry...still just one hatch. I read that they usually hatch about the same time...still 3 eggs with no signs of hatching. Guess the little guy might be the only one to hatch out of this clutch. Cute baby.

Carol, any word on the boating accident? Did they find the missing man? I hope so...has to be horribly tough on his family. Read from the article that Judy posted that there was a rapid and huge response by many agencies after the accident. I know everyone feels bad about the accident. I didn't realize the locks and dam could be so dangerous for boaters that break down too close. Just a sad story.

R L ML...you appear to be spot on about IL and IA DNR. They were wonderful in their response to the boating accident.

Judith Hart

Today Rudy is 5 weeks old.....HAPPY BIRTHDAY THUNDER THIGHS!!

Cristine

Watching the local noon news. They were interviewing the survivors of the boating accident near the Leclaire Lock and Dam. They are still looking for the father. So tragic. It's amazing any of them survived as cold as that water is right now, and the fact that they all went under the roller dam. I guess the father had given the "good" life jacket to his daughter and kept the smaller one for himself.

Judith Hart

It looks like a thunderstorm for the area within the hour.
http://radar.weather.gov/radar.php?rid=DVN&product=N0R&overlay=11101111&loop=yes

Bea Griffore

I just had to quit doing yard work. The wind is whipping around like crazy, thunder rolling in the distance and a few rain drops coming down. Feels like it's going to be a heck of a storm. The nest is starting to bob around pretty good. Hang on folks - could be a wild ride! Not much food in the nest, is there? Look like half of a fish is it.

Cristine, that IS sad about the missing fisher man. I haven't heard that they found him yet.

HAPPY 5TH WEEK BIRTHDAY RUDY! (thunder thighs :) lol)

Cristine

Well, Yikes! Looks like, according to the radar, it may be headed SE of the Q.C. metro... my direction. Thanks for the heads up Judith and Bea. At least maybe the nest will be spared. I am home so I can get my windows closed anyway.

Cherrycarol

A friend of mine knows the dad from the accident. It's getting darker & darker & 83 & humid. There were so many people out today just driving & grocery store. Must be the warm weather. Saw 3 people I knew there. ha! Only 50% chance of rain today. HUH! Got a little when I was in Bible study. My feeders r hanging off my over hand right by my sliding glass doors so I can see them really good. There has been a lot of people taking pic of oriels at humming bird feeders here. I haven't seen one. Also they like grape jelly.

Judith Hart

This is an interesting video, it's about ticks invading an eagles nest, they were killing the eaglets, so they had to.....watch the video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0BkzcMuvBg

Cristine

Only got maybe 10 drops of rain out of that ominous looking storm :)

Cristine

Berry college baby.... whoa! She is way up on the y branch. You can only see her on the Approach Cam, not the Nest Cam. What a beautiful bird she has become.

amberdawn

Judith, that was a fascinating video! I'm going to use it as a part of a career guidance lesson for my 5th graders on the possible careers for biologists.

Coleen Perilloux Landry

Liberty is protecting Rudy in the wind and what a wind it is. What a great mom she is. I do hope they only get wind and not rain and thunderstorms.
I had a wonderful day speaking about the live oak trees to delegates of the national convention of the Garden Clubs of America held in New Orleans. It was held at a plantation house on Bayou LaFourche and a wonderful lunch was prepared by the culinary arts students at Nicholls State University. I met a few ladies from Iowa and they were thrilled when I told them I watch their eagles.

Bea Griffore

Coleen, how neat that you got to meet Iowans! Sounds like your day was a good one. Since your eagles are already gone I'm glad you get to watch this nest. It's the best!

Cristine, do you think that's it for storms for today? I got only a few more drops than you with wild wind. It's 80° at my house right now and I'm loving it!

Rudy is laying down as usual with J (?) on guard. This morning was the most I have seen Rudy actually moving around more and her legs seemed to be holding her up pretty good, just not for long.

Judith, I have to go back yet and watch that video. I started and got interupted. So, later when I have 15 min I'll get at it. I did see the very beginning and I need to know more. Who would think it would be so hard to find 15 free minutes? bbl

Bea Griffore

Oops, is it L on the nest?

Judith Hart

What in the world is Rudy doing flapping those wings in the wind? It looked like she was about to take off! Anyone see that?

BHappel

I have looked at the nest several times today and have not seen Mom or Dad. I also have not seen any food in the nest. Have I just caught it at the wrong time.

Cherrycarol

Awww!! Mom & Rudy sitting together watching the world go by!

Mavis

Judy, I just watched the video you linked about the tick infested nest. Very good video. I was very impressed with the AZ wildlife and fish people who are dedicated to these nests. They worked to eliminate the problem..and intervened when necessary. They actually went beyond what I would have expected, in order to provide safe habitat for the brooding eagles. Their attitude and care is what I would love to see from all DNR sectors.

Berry lad is hanging out on that one lower branch he likes to stand on...this time he is standing on one leg with the other leg just hanging below the limb.

Rudy is laying near the wall edge and I'm kinda glad that she is laying and not standing. Would sure be happier if I knew the wall was strong enough to hold him if he strays too close. We watched how some of the sticks were just laid there...but so far...all of L and J's walls have held true.

One thing I noticed from Judy's video...when the workers removed the eaglets at age 6 weeks...they were the size of small butterball turkeys! It is hard to realize how big they are until they are in the hands of humans.

It is hot where I am...in the 90s today...and the evening has not really cooled off yet. I wonder why we have so many eagles in Florida when our weather is so hot...

Cherrycarol

Mavis I think they migrate north in the summer. Is what I heard. Even the Decorah baby goes to Canada in the summer.
They haven't found the body of the man yet. That is sad. Could be a long way down by now as fast as the river is moving . Cresting at flood stage soon now.

Coleen Perilloux Landry

I have not seen both parents on the nest this late at night in a long time. They were just there and very active. Rudy is wide awake.

Cristine

That WAS amazing to see both L and J in the nest at this hour! After one parent left, Rudy stood up on her wee little legs for the longest I've seen her, before she collapsed back into her butterball position :) She reminds me so much of my 8 month old grand-daughter who is just learning to pull herself up to a standing position. She keeps trying and gets stronger every time she does it. Rudy alone in the nest again now.

Bea... I think we are done with storms until tomorrow afternoon ahead of that cold front that is supposed to come through. Could be some strong winds.

Darlene Nichols

......Judy.......what a great video......many thanks for posting the link....Arizona seems to have a really forward thinking program and is certainly concerned about the health of the baby eaglets...........it was hot here today, too, Mavis.......85 degrees.......not what you had but its hard to gget used to because it changes so quickly.....we're supposed to have upper 60's and low 70's next week.........we've had a sad event here very similar to the one your having to live with in the QC, Carol. We had two young men - 18 and 19 who were on the Ohio in a canoe........were't wearing life jackets......and while the Ohio isn't in flood, it is full and running fast from water coming in from Pennsylvania......they haven't been seen since last Saturday night. Pretty grim outlook...........but searchers haven't given up..............I'm in a spring cleaning mode (it scares me that I want to do this) so I'm tired and ready to turn in.....have sweet dreams of pudgy little Rudy.....and baby face at Berry......good night all

Cristine

The sound of the tree frogs is very calming and therapeutic. I think it is putting me to sleep. Goodnight.

Mavis

7:04 AM EDT May 8th

Woke up just before daybreak ...started the coffee and walked out with two of the pups. It was quiet out, just me and the pups except for the hoots of a couple of owls settling in, it was quiet and peaceful. The air, whipping off the dew on the newly cut grass was refreshing. I came in and made my favorite latte and walked back outside with Abby, my late sleeper. The sun was barely breaking the darkness, and I was remembering that this was the birthday of my late husband. I was lost in my thoughts of him when, all of a sudden, I was aware that the air was filled with an explosion of songs from the surrounding trees. It was like all the birds, and it must have been hundreds of them, woke at the same time to rejoice the new day. I went back in thinking Robert would have loved it! Hope he heard it, too.

Berry baby was on his favorite limb...jumped down...did a few wingercises...and played with a straw ball and a few sticks on the nest. He is waiting to see what will be served for breakfast.

Rudy was laying down and preening his back feathers. He was alone on the nest, and went back to sleep.

Just another thought...for those who believe in prayer...please pray in earnest for those 300 girls kidnapped in Nigeria. I kept thinking last night, but for the Grace of God, I could have been born there instead of this wonderful United States of America.

Good morning everyone

Mavis

7:50 AM EDT

Well..how about that?! Liberty just flew in with a small, shinny fish...I think Rudy may be on a diet!!

Bea Griffore

Good morning Mavis and everyone. Mavis, sounds like your day had a nice start with nature. I went outside too with my first cup of coffee and just enjoyed the world waking up. I think those early morning hours are my favorite whether I really want to be up or not. I hope Robert heard your birds too.

Rudy is alone in the nest. She just spread out a wing and I could see those feathers coming in so nicely. I see them on her tail too. She's got her head right at the edge of the nest that's below the Alcoa branch.

Judith, finally this morning I watched that video. It was awesome and very informational. Thanks for sharing that.

Amberdawn, so glad you are going to use the video as a tool for your 5th graders. The more choices they know about the better so they can realize what they can do with a great education.

I already have a few rain drops on my windows this morning. And I was going to wash windows today! HA - might have to change that plan. DARLENE, spring cleaning - it sure does tire a person out! And it makes me hurt all over. How about you? I'd rather hurt from doing oing yard work.

Liberty just flew in. I saw the black tail spot! I think she brought something to eat with her but is standing on it so I'm not sure what's under her.

bbl

Bea Griffore

Yes, it was a fish L brought in and is now feeding Rudy who woke up and must have decided it's breakfast time.

I checked the weather and found we could have some bad storms today. It was kind of vague as to when this might happen but it could get pretty severe in places. High of 82 predicted.

Cherrycarol

Mavis that was beautiful. Brought tears to my eyes thinking of my husband, His aunt is getting laid to rest today. she was a wonderful woman that raised Joe from 11. Praying for all those girls. So sad! Breakfast this morning. Yes it seems like less food for Rudy lately! GOOD MORNING CAROL

Judith Hart

I found that video on a site I was snooping, someone gave a link that didn't work so I spent a half hour trying to find it.
I never thought about an eaglet getting tick paralysis, although I have seen it in dogs that came into our local animal shelter.
Rudy seems to enjoy spending time on all edges of the nest.

R L ML

Judith, I just had time to check out the video you posted yesterday. Certainly a good review for everyone on the development of eagles and of how they can be helped. Thanks for the post.

Mavis

Carol, sorry about Joe's aunt. It was nice that she was there to give Joe what he needed after he lost his mother. Just too young for an eleven year old to lose a parent. I'm glad his family keeps you in the loop.

I guess the rain frogs did a superb job on Cristine last night...she must be sleeping in today.

Where did the sparrow go? I must have fed literally hundreds at my feeders for weeks...you walk outside and see them everywhere in the grass...then..poof!...they are all gone. Been gone a couple of weeks. I really didn't realize that they migrated. Thought they were one of the birds that just hung around all year. Don't much blame them...this heat is only going to get worse. I'd fly away to a cooler place, too, if I could. I don't know how far they'd go because I don't think they could make it through that Iowa wind! I wonder how the hummers stay anchored in that wind? Hey...that's a good question...how DO the hummers fly or feed at the feeders in that wind? They surely need the feeders with the perches so they can lock down when trying to insert their long beaks into those tiny holes.

R L ML

Mavis you mentioned the Iowa wind. Just looked in on Rudy alone in the nest and the feathers on his back are big enough that they are flipping up a bit in the wind. One parent was there a bit earlier. Yesterday a parent was there quite a bit in the daytime to provide shade when the weather got hot. No adult seems to spend the night there now that it is a bit warmer.

Cristine

Hahaha, Mavis! You read my comment from last night :) Rudy standing up tall, and peering over the side of the nest at the honking geese, I presume. Oh, there she goes spreading her winds, acting like she wants to fly off the edge. Yikes! You are scaring me little one.

Bea... I see some strong storms on the radar to the West of the nest, in the Iowa city area. Is that going to affect you?

The Q.C. looks to be in the line of fire later this afternoon, maybe around 5:00 or so. Possibility of hail and high winds. I'd better get outside and "batten down the hatches".

Cristine

Mn bound nest... both parents on the nest now, trying to protect the two babies from a torrential rainstorm.

Cherrycarol

I went down to the river & L or J is sitting in it's favorite spot on the tippy top of the tree. I took a picture & I'll post it on OT> She looks pretty tiny even with my benoculars. My car said 85. UGG!! I bet we do get some storms. So L & J are always in the tree keeping an eye on Rudy!!

Mavis I am still friends with all Joe's family. I was down in the dumps today cause I had to work & couldn't go to the funeral. :(

Annette Kryske

1:46 PM PDT. Judith, I just looked at that wonderful video you had on here yesterday.I hope you don't mind my sharing that. It was so informative, and I would like people to see what wonderful people we have out there , who offer such services to our Eagles everywhere. Mydaughter in Phoeix would love this video. Thanks for sharing it with us, Eagleholics.

Cristine

I think you are right, Carol. The storms, they are a-comin'! I can see them developing to our South and West, down near Quincy. So far, no watches or warnings so maybe it won't be too bad. It is very humid out right now. Just got back in the house from planting some cilantro in my garden. Hope it comes up. I love making fresh salsa in the summer.

Cristine

A tiny little thundershower going over the farm right now, but now a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for SW of here near Galesburg moving up this way.

BHappel

I have looked many times today and have not seen either parent with Rudy. I hopefully just have not looked at the right time. I also don't see any food in the nest and last year there was tons of food.

Judith Hart

I'm curious to see if Liberty or Justice sense a storm coming and return to the nest to cover Rudy.

Cristine

I am curious to see if Liberty flies back into the nest to try and cover Rudy when it rains. I think she will :)

Judith Hart

Cristine, You said the same thing I did....copycat!
Justice just dropped in with some straw and I think a little mouse....took off again

Cristine

Oh my gosh, Judy. And we worded it almost exactly the same. Wow. That's eerie. I think we are reading each others minds :)

Weatherman just said that storm will be in the Q.C. in an hour.

Missed the mouse drop-off.

Judith Hart

Liberty back on the nest...

Judith Hart

Justice just delivered a squirrel, I think.

Cherrycarol

AND GONE AGAIN. kEPT HITTING RUDY IN THE HEAD WITH HIS TAIL.

Skedaddle

After whichever parent fed Rudy, they left a big chunk of meat uncovered an he/she was self-feeding!

Skedaddle

...and now we've fallen asleep with our face in our food!

Judith Hart

Rudy downed that squirrel in no time at all! Liberty ate very little of it....I was a little worried, she didn't move for a while after eating it, she finally moved and burped. You can add another pound to her.

Cherrycarol

LOL She's learning!

Cristine

The "Storm" has moved through here SE of the nest. All it amounted to was a little wind, rain and some lightening. No big deal. It has cooled things off nicely. Doesn't look like the nest is going to get anything.
Oh, Rudy is up! Standing nice and tall! L or J back in the nest.

Cristine

Check out Woodiecam1.com A mother wood duck and her babies who were hatched in a nesting box. Two cameras. One inside the box and one on the outside. Those ducklings are so darn cute. A pile of adorable jumping, moving fluff balls. Chatter is that the ducklings are going to jump out of the nest and into the water tomorrow morning!

Judith Hart

I just looked at the woodiecam, that hole in the box must be bigger than it looks. It's hard to believe a duck could get in that hole.
Don't think I'd want a camera in my back yard like that, no telling what you might walk outside dressed in, for the world to see.

Cristine

I know what you mean, Judith :)

TTV offline. Rudy all alone in the nest.

Cristine

Poor MN bound mom trying to cover both those big babies from the rain, all by herself. The rain is just dripping off her beak. You can see one of the babies shivering, as the back half of it is sticking out in the rain :(

Back to little Rudy.....just laying there staring over the edge of the nest, or maybe she's asleep. Can't tell.

Coleen Perilloux Landry

It is hailing on the MN Bound eagles. That nest has been through enough. Lots of lightning, too, and the wind is picking up. Someone who lives near the nest says it is not good weather.

Cristine

Sunset on the MN bound nest. The Mom looks completely beat up, poor thing. The two little ones still have their heads buried under her, too scared to come out.

Cristine

TTV still offline, and getting the "Spinning Circle of Doom" on the NV. Guess that's my signal to sign off. Meet you at the nest in the A.M.

Wendy

Good morning all. Rudy was in nest squeezing for J/L who showed up with a stick then left. Don't think that was what Rudy was expecting. Then decided to lay down and settled in rocking side to side just like mom would do. Such a smart one.

Bea Griffore

Good morning Wendy and everyone. Where is everybody this morning? You still here Wendy?

Wow, it's windy at the nest again! Can't tell if it's L or J on the edge of the nest while Rudy is moving around maybe getting some exercise. She sure is looking chubby these days.

Wind is in the forecast for today with gusts up to 30mph and a high of 72 predicted. Not sure how much it rained in the area yesterday but I pretty much only got sprinkles and a lot of wind. Every time I thought about washing windows yesterday it sprinkled so I took it as a sign not to do windows! More yard work done but I still feel about a month behind where I should be with it. But then all the plants are late too!

Cristine, I was getting the same thing as you last night on the cams as I was shutting down my computer. So glad both are working this morning.

I was afraid to say anything before this about the music being gone - didn't want to junx it. But it's so nice not to hear that anymore! Not sure what cahnged but it's a nice change!
bbl

Judith Hart

I was just looking at the TTV at Rudy, she's fairly flattened out in the nest right now, all I see is a big neck and head sticking up. What a large beak she has!

Cristine

Good morning. Looks like all of the rain has passed. Cooler today with only a high of 70 and breezy. (always, right?) Liberty in the nest with Rudy, but I don't see any food. Have they brought her breakfast yet? It seems the meals are fewer and far between now.

Woodiecam1......Just watched the Wood Duck babies jump one by one out of their nesting box into the pond! It was over in a matter of seconds. One of the most amazing things I've ever seen live.

Bea Griffore

Cristine, guess I got here too late to see any feeding this morning. Breezy - yes always! Shoot, I missed the baby ducks jumping from their nest box into the pond!

Judith, I noticed too Rudy was laying pretty flat in the TTV. Hard to believe such a big baby can flatten out so much! I kind of wish she would move around more but maybe not today in the wind. Is this L on the nest? She's picking at something in the nest and Rudy didn't seem to like being bothered.

Where is the time going this morning? I have to get busy and clean up my kitchen after it fell apart yesterday while I was doing yard work. Where is that dish washer person when I need one? My next home needs to have a dish washer!

Judith Hart

I was just looking at the Berry college eaglet, I think she's 11 weeks old. Rudy, at just over 5 weeks old looks as big as her.....way to go fatso!

Judith Hart

Rudy hanging her head way over the edge under the Alcoa branch...nerve racking!

Mavis

2:00 PM EDT

This is it....enough is enough. Rudy is on unsteady legs...standing ON the edge and the wind is gusting! Gotta take a break...I feel like a cardio workout is revving up...

Judith Hart

Well, from the TTV it looks like her heavy end is partially in the bowl.

Cristine

Berry college eagle... standing on the edge of the nest just flapping, and flapping, and flapping. She is so ready to take off! Rain moving in at that nest.

Looks like Rudy is trying to lay in Liberty's shadow. She just is not fitting :)

Mavis

Cristine...IMHO...Liberty needs to just sit on Rudy for a while...wind too darn strong for Rudy to look out over the edge. The only saving grace is like Judy said...the heavy end is in the nest part when she does her death defying walk abouts!

Bea Griffore

It also looked like Liberty was looking down adoringly on Rudy just a minute ago. Looked so sweet. And no Rudy doesn't fit in mom's shadow anymore.

Mavis, I thought for sure this year the time for the cardio workouts was past especially with no siblings to argue about who is going to be in what spot. Guess not!

Judith lol - heavy end in the bowl! I guess in that wind it's good to have a big bottom.

I think my orioles have left. Didn't see them yesterday or so far today. :( Maybe now the hummingbirds will show up. I know they are in the area 'cause Carol has them. They just need to cross the river to get to my yard.

Judith Hart

MN Bound nest...Dad there annoyed stamping feet, something around the nest.

Bea Griffore

My goodness Rudy loves exercising those wings in the wind!

A chick hatched yesterday at the WQAD falcon nest that is built on the MidAmerican building in Davenport. What a cute thing!
http://wqad.com/falcon-cam/

Liberty just flew off and Rudy really started flapping those wings! Yikes, I was expecting lift-off with all that activity. Whew, she stayed put!

Cherrycarol

Hi everyone. I'm glad you posted about our falcons. I don't know how to put the hhtp on here. Rudy hiding behind mom again. It's hot in that sun.

Cherrycarol

She's hanging over the edge again.EWWW!!

Skedaddle

What is that dangling from Justice's chest? It doesn't look like a feather!

Judith Hart

Rudy opened his wings once, twice and blew over both times....better keep those wings tucked, in the wind.

Darlene Nichols

.......wwhat ever is all that "stuff" in the nest? when you look at the TTV it looks like there are about four babies in the nest........course I couldn't watch for more than a minute or two because it was making me dizzy......I'm just going to stick with the nest view until the wind calms down.......it eventually does, doesn't it?

Judith Hart

I just took a look at the Berry nest and it looks like strapping bands in the nest.

Skedaddle

has anyone seen dinnertime? I haven't seen any food in the next all afternoon.

Mavis

Yikes...Judy, it does look like strapping bands in the Berry nest. I don't think they will tangle up on that...and too long to eat...don't like the looks of that metal on one of the bands. Would sure be nice if one of the parents removed it. Little Man may enjoy playing with it....so far, all he has are straw balls and sticks. Ants and insects are a problem at that nest and may be why we never see a food pile there.

Rudy is doing her favorite thing...laying down. That's ok, baby, you do it while you can...life is fixing to get hard in a couple of months.

Coleen Perilloux Landry

So glad my eaglets are grown and flown away already tonight because thus far we have had 8 inches of rain, yes eight. The City of New Orleans is one big lake and there are fools out thinking they can drive in it. Cars are left in water all over the streets and people are walking wherever in waist deep water.

Cherrycarol

6:30 am & Rudy is picking at the nest looking for food. Empty nest but all the other nests are the same way. Guess they only get 3 meals a day now. Mavis I thought the same thing yesterday. She is growing so fast they need the sleep & yes it will be hard soon. Almost 80 today. HAGDAY! HaVE TO GET READY FOR WORK GOT A BUSY ONE TODAY. pROMS & mOTHERS DAY!!

Judith Hart

Rudy marching around the nest playing with some dried up thingys and watching the bugs fly by.
Coleen, I hope you are high and dry where you are, would be great to have a break from all this.
Yesterday they called for 8 MPH winds, I think I had 45....most of my plants on the deck knocked over and shredded. I grow my tomato plants in large containers, they all have windburn.

I still see one piece of that strapping tape in the Berry College nest, the rest of it has disappeared.

Coleen Perilloux Landry

Miss Rudy is standing straight and tall, no more waddling and plopping down. Either my eyes are very bad today or we are writing in Greek. I have failed the "letters" test three times this morning in order to get on.

R L ML

Rudy is so big that when I came on this morning it looked like the nest before the eggs were laid and there was an intruder in the nest. Kept walking around the edges and looking down.
