Bea Griffore

Another chance to look around! Yea, can't wait. Get the word out folks...

Rudy still MIA.

Mavis

YEAH!! Thanks, Mr. John

Wendy

Thanks, Mr. John!

Annette Kryske

Thank you Mr. John! I was so sad not to see all that beautiful action yesterday. I hope I will be able to view it this morning. You are a good guy trying to keep all of us happy, the next few days, as we see our little family depart until next year. Hopefully, we still will have a few more weeks of L & J's training Rudy to be on his own.

Cristine

Looking forward to the panning session today! It will be interesting to see if Rudy is still close by! I hope everyone will be able to watch today. Thank you, Mr. John.

Bea Griffore

Annette - remember this is CDT not PDT! hehehehe

Thank you Mr. John!

Judith Hart

The big baby was just in the nest for about 30 sec. no food so she took off.

Coleen Perilloux Landry

I see her in the lower left answering the train that seems to be blowing its whistle much more than usual.

Bea Griffore

Just realized I have to leave and won't be able to get back home in time. Darn it! Please take pics for me to view later. Thanks friends!

HAPPY VIEWING!

ER

12:06 pm. Where is Rudy? I can hear her screaming like a banshee but no sighting. Maybe in the tree with the camera? She was screaming then got real quiet, bet mom or dad brought her a little snack. Poor baby that flying take a lot out of you and you are so tired you can't feel your self.LOL.;) Always Liberty to the recuse. At least Rudy does not bit mom on the foot and not let go like one of those crazy Decorah eaglets did the other day. Guess that is called biting the "foot" that feeds you.

Judith Hart

News on the 3rd Decorah eaglet. An eaglet was spotted 1 mile from the nest, without a transmitter, this could be #3 that has been missing.

Cristine

I hope that's the third Decorah eaglet! That would be a long way from home though wouldn't it?

22 minutes 'til panning!

Judith Hart

Did anyone inform Annette? I hope she's awake!

Mavis

Judy...I sure hope so. I really was thinking that maybe something bad had happened to her. Sure hope it is #3 and everything will be ok. Thanks for the update. I'm sure Mr. Bob is on the way to check it out.

Cristine

Where o where can Rudy be? Hmmmmmmmmm.

Mavis

I thought I saw her around that green wire...but I guess not. Maybe she fledged and is not so close by right now. She turned 12 weeks today...she is ready.

You did good, Mr. John. Maybe next time you can toss a fish in the nest and woe her back!! Or a turtle! Thanks.

bbj

Rudy's not so easy to find today. That won't be the case in a few years when s/he gets that white head and tail! Thanks for the panning.

Cristine

She is either hidden in plain sight, or she "flew the coop!" Great job with the panning, Mr. John. Thank you!

Wendy

Rudy is camera shy today. :-( Mr. John...thanks for trying.

ER

THat was interesting. No sighting of Rudy on the pan of the camera. Lovely country side though, Looks like a nice breezy day there,so Rudy is off doing the tour of the dams and locks with Liberty teaching her a little bit of fishing. Remember the picture of one of the three with a little fish in it's talons flying to the nest. Hope we will see Rudy doing that too. Thanks for the camera tour,Mr John.

Cherrycarol

Darn I just tuned in & missed it. Maybe Rudy has fledged today. She is 12 weeks today.

Judith Hart

I think I hear the oriole singing away, don't see that bird. Parents aren't around either.
Good work Mr. John

Donna

Thank you for the great tour. I thought we saw them at one point, Rudy and a parent sitting fairly close and half hidden behind the leaves. The cam paused there for a few seconds.

Judith Hart

Now I hear her!

Cristine

This is a great shot we have now Mr. John. We can see a lot more of the river, plus a little of what's below the nest in that bottom right corner. Is that the flood waters we are seeing?

Cherrycarol

I love this view too! I went to see the eagles on Big Island & I saw 2 babies flying around but no parents to be seen. They were just flying around & 1 flew right over me but came from behind me. Couldn't get any pic.

Cherrycarol

Rudy did fly from behind the ttv cam last night. I saw her head & next thing u no she was in the nest.

Annette Kryske

Thanks all for wondering if I saw Rudy. Leon & I got back from our walk at 9:58. I turned on the computer and literally sat on my butt for 2 1/2 hrs. Ready to tape the great event. I was glued to the picture. I did enjoy the scenery immensely, I actually taped it, hoping Rudy would show up. Unfortunately I kept taping and erasing while waiting. I didn't even get a glimpse of them. Mr. John you did a fine job of showing us the beautiful sky and scenery, and thanks for spending almost the same amount of time, as I did, only you did all the hard work, holding the camera, and all. I hope you don't get a stiff neck from all of this. Thanks for trying.

Skedaddle

I suspect she was sitting on top of the TTV camera laughing at us!

Cherrycarol

LOL Skedaddle

Annette Kryske

2:27 PDT At about 10:45 AM while waiting for the big event, I heard screeching loudly from Rudy. Then it stopped, I wonder if L or J are feeding her while on the limb. I remember them feeding Honor and Glory that way when they fledged. Maybe that is the reason Mr. John wasn't able to do the filming. What do you think??

John Riches

Bottom right corner of the wide tree top view is actually a grassy field between the building and a treeline. right now there is not any water in that field. I think the river would have to rise another foot to get to that point.

Bobbie

5:18 PM CST
Just tuned back in to check nest & I think I saw Rudy on branch in the lower right hand side, just about where the Alcoa Eagle Cam logo is located. At least I hope it was Rudy!!

Cherrycarol

Rudy s at the bottom right. By the Alcoa sign

Catherine

Rudy - phone home

Sandy Stricklin

Rudy sure likes to stay hidden. I haven't seen her all day and I miss her. But I do think I hear squeeing. Rudy, come out come out wherever you are.

Sandy Stricklin

Cherrycarol

Has Rudy ate today?

Bea Griffore

7:50PM CDT A barge is going by! I love this view. Thanks Mr. John.

Too bad Rudy wasn't spotted in today's search for her. Happy 12 Week B-Day Rudy! Maybe she really did fledge.

I need to see if there are any more updates about the 3rd Decorah eaglet. I sure hope the one spotted is the 3rd one. We know they have the right people there to help if it's needed.

Carol, I don't know if Rudy ate today or not.

Bea Griffore

Carol, nobody posted that they saw Rudy eat. So, I'm guessing if she ate it was away from the nest. By the river???

Judith Hart

There's the little squealer now, sitting in the nest waiting for a little bite to eat.

Bea Griffore

8:35pm CDT RUDY IS BACK! She's on the far side of the TTV nest again.

Bea Griffore

Judy, guess we posted at the same time. I didn't see her come in. Did you?

Judith Hart

Bea, I missed her landing.
It seems like when she spots her parents she starts squealing, faster and faster, the closer they get the higher pitched her voice gets. When they finally land near her, it turns into a solid scream.

Bea Griffore

I noticed that too Judith.

I saw 2 birds fly past the cam, pretty close. I think 1 was a robin and the other a cardinal. Those are the calls I was hearing as they passed.

Rudy was calling out too. Probably saying "I'm home. Where's dinner?"

Boaters are having fun tonight. I've seen a couple boats go by.

Judith Hart

I wonder what that black dot is in the water on the right, near shore. One minute it's there, then it's gone...sometimes I think I see a splash....must be seeing things.

Judith Hart

Maybe that's what it is, except when I see it take off.....do you see it?

Bea Griffore

I did see it before it got too dark. There are markers for the river traffic. I did NOT see it take off! What?

R L ML

Rudy must have come in just after I checked out. Glad she made it home. Night view is great the way the cam is set now.

CaJ

4:59 a.m. Rudy is in nest sleeping. ♥

Bea Griffore

Good morning. 6am CDT

CaJ, Thanks for that report! I wondered if she would sleep there last night.

Rudy must be gone for an early fly around the neighborhood. I don't spot her anywhere right now.

It's a little windy this morning. The morning birds are singing.

Cherrycarol

GM Nice to know she's sleeping in the nest at night. It gets light at 5 am now. So she is up & gone early. Since she didn't eat yesterday, that we know of. Hope to see her eat today. I'm going down to the river after work today & see if I can spot her. It's really hard with the leaves out. Only in the 60's now. Nice!

Cherrycarol

Bea do u get stuff from SOAR? They r putting off surgery on that eagle til Sat. They had a picture of it's x ray & it's a boy. I think they have a fb page.

Bea Griffore

Carol, I do get those notices. I think they probably made the right decision to delay surgery so he will be stronger. I saw the x-ray too. Decorah has had a rough time this year.

Gotta love the temp but it's going to be mid 80s today with showers and thunderstorms likely this afternoon.

Judith Hart

I don't see Rudy, I think I see a bunch of young starlings in the nest.
Looks foggy over the river.

Cherrycarol

It is foggy.
Bea SOAR knows what they r doing. I agree. So nice we have these kind of places. There is one by Chicago called HOO HAVEN. They do the same things. I'd love to go there sometime. They did release an eagle here 2 years ago. You probably remember my pictures.

Cherrycarol

Mom brought a fish & eating it & looking for Rudy. Where r u?? You should be hungry!!

Bea Griffore

Carol yes I remember the pics. Awesome people doing awesome work!

Shoot, missed mom with the fish. Did she play with the turtle shell? It's turned over since earlier this morning. Rudy must not have wanted fish this morning but you would think she would be really hungry.

Judith, when the fog lifts maybe you'll see that buoy bobbing in the river again.

Well, time to get ready for the day and I have to go away again. Also have a house showing while I'm gone. Guess I should dust? bbl

Mavis

Glad to hear Rudy was in nest last night. When I checked at 11:45 PM...she was still gone. I guess she sets her own curfew now.

Coleen Perilloux Landry

The scavengers are cleaning up the nest this morning. Never a good sign.
I saw Rudy in her favorite place in the nest early last night. Guess she is exploring this morning.

Judith Hart

Thanks for the panning Mr. John.....Little brat hiding!

Mavis

Yep...that was a nice morning surprise...enjoyed it, Mr. John. Thanks.

The little rascal may have flown the coop! I think she has fledged...probably yesterday. Thank goodness she was ready. She has shown good flying and landing skills.

Mr. John...is deadwood still there?? I thought maybe I saw it yesterday but not sure.

Cherrycarol

I went to the river before I came to work & it's toofoggy to see anything. There r fishermen going in. I wanted to ask for a ride over . But I wouldn't really do that. Not good conditions to be on the river.

Cristine

Good morning! You are right girls, it's nice and cool outside right now. I slept with my windows wide open last night and it was very comfortable. I don't like using the air-conditioning unless I absolutely have to. I like to be able to hear the birds singing and feel the breeze. It's unusually quiet here this morning however. I wonder why? I do hear a mourning dove in one of the apple trees.
No sight 'nor sound of Rudy at the nest either. It was disappointing not to see her yesterday. I'll bet she is long gone.... off to do new and exciting things. It's good to know she came home to sleep in her own bed last night.
HAGD!

Judith Hart

Looking at the close head shot of Miss Rudy, I hate to say it but she is looking more like a HE to me. The beak doesn't seem to go back far enough in the pix Mr. John took for a female. Maybe it's the angle of the shot.
Let's act like I never said that!

Mavis

You are on spot, Judy....as much as I hate being wrong...I do think "she" may very well be a "HE"!! Even the size is beginning to suggest it. First borns are usually females...but when times are hard...and last winter was hard....the odds may be in favor of a male hatchling. EVERYTHING has been hard with this season...even in naming Little Rascal! All this is JMO!

Cherrycarol

I went back to the river & I saw 2 birds sitting at the top of an old tower behind Alcoa. I got a shot but can't tell if it's eagles or what. I've never noticed that before but I seen one fly up there. Not sure where exactly the tower is. Might have to investigate some day. I'll post it on OT.

Judith Hart

Rudy is close and hungry, screeching.

Judith Hart

She was on the lowest branch that sticks out, TTV, lower right side. She just flew to the right off screen.

Judith Hart

This is what they THINK they've figured out on the Decorah eaglets.
1st to fledge D18 found on the mulch heap.
2nd to fledge D19 is fitted with the transmitter, they are worried about it staying on the ground so much.
3rd to fledge D20 is the one with a wing fracture, surgery maybe Saturday, I think this one is a male.JMIO

Judith Hart

A Blue Jay is yelling at something and dark clouds coming in over the river. Rudy yelling back at the Jay!

Judith Hart

Dad was in the nest, Rudy spotted him...she came flying in from the left....started mantling nothing....dad didn't bring anything. Dad took off.
It looks like a storm is approaching, I hope she stays in the nest.

Judith Hart

It's pouring at the nest.
Where the heck is everyone, I'm been talking to myself since NOON! GEEZ!

Cherrycarol

Raining & Rudy is back in the nest. He is still around & will be for awhile. He has to learn how to hunt next. I saw a bird flying over the river too but no parents so I'm sure it wasn't Rudy.

Cristine

A nice steady rain coming down. So good to see Rudy in the nest. He/she always comes home for the rain, doesn't he/she? Glad you mentioned the possibility of Rudy being a male, Judith and Mavis. I don't know, but when I went back through and looked at the head shots I had from the other day, I was wondering the same thing. His/her feathers on his/her head looked so nice and smooth, too.
There is a chance of thunderstorms every day through next Monday! I am hearing thunder outside as we speak.

Wendy

Lots of wind and rain at the nest where Rudy is waiting it out.

Judy, you are not alone. You always have the flying buoy!

Hi, Carol.

Cristine

Judith.... You HAVE been talking to yourself since noon! Well, except for Carol thank goodness :)

Mr. John.... I wanted to thank you for answering my question yesterday about what we are seeing under the nest in the new TTV shot. I know now that you DO read every one of these posts, don't you? So appreciated.

Cristine

Rudy making a lot of noise. Wonder if he/she is calling Mom and Dad to deliver some supper to the nest.

Cherrycarol

Yes Rudy is hungry. I don't think he's ate for awhile. Our local new just showed his picture on tv. The one Mr John took of her on the branch. Rain is over.

Cherrycarol

Hi Wendy
Judy yes that is a buoy out there.

Cristine

Carol... what station was that? I will watch at 6 and 10.

Cherrycarol

It was on 6

WHERE IS MOM & DAD?? I'm HUNGRY!! MAYBE IT'S TIME TO WATCH & LEARN.

Skedaddle

Somebody bring that baby some food! He's getting hoarse!

Coleen Perilloux Landry

Rudy is home for supper. So nice to see her.

Skedaddle

OK, where'd she/he go? I walked out of the room, came right back and no Rudi!

Cherrycarol

I didn't see Rudy leave

Cristine

Hmmmmmm. I wonder what direction she went? Anybody see her go?

Skedaddle

Hope s/he comes back for bedtime!

Cristine

I think I just heard her. She can't be far. Gotta be home when the streetlights come on! I always had to :)

Judith Hart

Carol, Bea and Wendy....Thanks for identifying the water object for me as a buoy. I thought it might be a pelican standing in a boat.

Cristine

I thought it was a speck of dirt on my computer screen. I really need new glasses. But Juditn... I really liked your pelican in a boat idea.

Wendy

Was the pelican standing in the boat holding a radio that was playing Mariachi Music? Yes, I heard him before.

Cristine

Waiting. Waiting. Will she show up? Whoa! I think I just saw one of those bats fly by!

Cherrycarol

GM Nobody is home. 6:30 am. Love how the beams of sun shine down.

LOL Judith. Note how the barges stay on the other side of that buoy.

Cherrycarol

I hear her. Hope she gets to eat today!!

Judith Hart

Rudy in the nest with a young goose that she's not too anxious to pluck.

Cherrycarol

when did the goose get there?

Judith Hart

I looked in at 7:15 and the goose was there, Rudy was hiding in the corner.
She's plucking away now but she usually gets tired of it and quits.

Bea Griffore

GM everyone.

Good to be back today and see Rudy in the nest eating! Some feathers were flying but mostly she's eating everything. I think she just ate the leg bone!

BARGE going by - upriver!

Judith Hart

I couldn't believe it when I saw that bone go down!
I missed the barge.
