Rudy is "branching out" so to speak. He has not fledged yet, but he is now exploring other sections of the nest tree. This afternoon he is sitting on a branch about 15 feet away from the nest. I am posting one picture here and a few others on the Alcoa Davenport Works FaceBook page. I would expect he will fledge in the next few days. It will be harder for us to know for certain as the river is starting to cover the road and will be high for most of next week.
We should still see plenty of Rudy for the next few weeks. He will still eat most of his meals in the nest until he learns to hunt for himself.
