Mavis

Coleen, you could see her? She is on a branch in the nest tree? I'm like Judy...she sure looked like she fledged. I posted Judy's picture on Twitter.

Mr. John...will you zoom the camera out now? Appreciate the picture and the clarification about branching/fledging. Thanks for the picture. I wondered if she went to the branch the intruders sat on a few months back...it is not in sight of the cam now. The picture you show tell a different story. Thank you.

Jo Ann

I don't see Rudy. I hope somebody gets pictures of him.

Cherrycarol

O NO. ;( I didn't get to see her go. I had this on at work & soon as I go home she leaves. Good for her!!

Yes Mr John can u pull the cam out PLEASE!! So we can see her>> Love the pictures & I can't believe it's flooding again. I'll be coming over there to see if I can see her.

Bea Griffore

Thanks for the pic Mr. John. She's such a beauty!

Did she fledge or not fledge? I think not since she's in the nest tree.

Mavis

JoAnn...Mr. John got a picture of Rudy on the branch or limb that is part of the nest tree. Judy got a picture when she took off. She is a bold one...that's for sure.

Cherrycarol

Thanks Judy for the photo of her leaving. Hope to see her soon. I'd say not yet Bea. She has to leave the tree to be a fledge from what I've heard anyway.

Bea Griffore

Carol, I agree.

Judith Hart

Doesn't she leave the tree when she flies into space? Did she fly out over the water and come back to the same tree? Wonder what her flight time was?
I guess we won't know unless Carol or Mr. John sees her in the air.

Judith Hart

What a huge tree that is....great views....I spy, she can fly but she can't hide from Mr. John.....Found her!

Mavis

Judy...she 'leaves' the tree when she jumps in the air, too!! Rudy's egg was laid on your birthday...and I think she takes after you...spunky! Fledged or branched...she did good either way...11 weeks, 2 days and she flies out of sight to a different branch. Way to go, girl!! I predicted 11 weeks 6 days or 12 weeks 1 day...I think I may be wrong...she is good enough to fledge now and brave enough to do it! We'll see.

Cherrycarol

Thanks for panning. It looks like she's sleeping!! YEA!!

Bea Griffore

Well shoot! I missed the panning but I do see her now. YEA! WTG Rudy!

Bea Griffore

Well shoot! I missed the panning but I do see her now. YEA!

Cherrycarol

wE'LL HAVE TO CALL JUDY FAST FINGERS JUDY!

Bea Griffore

Carol, I like that one! LOL She did good!

How did my post go twice? Good grief.

Jo Ann

Thanks Mavis. I see her now. She is down in the tree. She is probably a little scared. Go Rudy!

Paula Kany

I see her, she is down below the nest on the left hand side, got down, can't get back up???? Way to go Rudy, spread those wings and be free as the breeze. You have been a real treat for all of us, take care. L/J keep an "eagle eye" on her!

Mavis

Bea...love that picture of you! Carol has a new profile picture from a few days ago. You both look good.

Cristine

Oh my, I missed her leaving! I just can't believe it. I saw her egg laid, and I saw her brother or sister's egg crack, and now I missed this. I am so grateful though to be able to see her, still in the tree. Thanks Mr. John! And you all have done such a great job with your comments on here this afternoon that I am able to catch up with what I have missed :) I hope she can figure out how to fly back up to the nest. Judy.... your tribute was very moving. It made me cry.

Cherrycarol

tHANKS. I've BEEN TRYING TO DO THAT SELFIE THING but with my camera not a phone. Not Easy!! LOL Now we know what Bea looks like. Very Nice!

Jo

Little stinker must have "fueled up" with that avian breakfast I saw her with and decided to go further out on her own when I went back to bed. Nice picture of Rudy, Mr. John! She sure is hard to see in those leaves! YAY, she's growing up to be the big Eagle she's meant to be. I'm proud of her!

Jo

BTW, Mr John, thanks for all you've done this season! You ARE much appreciated!

Cherrycarol

You can tell when she's going to fly. She starts squeeling. Getting her nerve up I guess.. Moving around to different branches now.

Judith Hart

Squeak squeak squeak, mom dad, I'm over here under the nest, hidden in the leaves. Hope you hear and see me....Bring food!

Bea Griffore

Thanks Mavis and Carol.

I've been sitting here for a while and was hoping to see Rudy do something before I have to leave again. Is that an adult calling out at times? She seems pretty comfy right there for now. I can see her pull on a leaf once in a while. I wonder what she thinks about being below the nest instead of above or in it?

Ok, I can't stall any longer. Keep up the great commentary - I love it as much as Cristine does. bbl

Bea Griffore

Oh, Judith, is it Rudy calling out? I had to read your comment before leaving.

Judith Hart

That's her Bea.

Mavis

Well...whatcha think? She likes it there...or is she a bit intimidated about flying back? I think she wants to be back in the nest right now but has to work up the courage. I saw her move to a different branch once and it looked like a straight shot...then she ended up back where she was so I don't really know what to think. I figured L or J would show up at the nest with a fish to draw her back...and the way she was squealing...I thought they were on their way in! This may be a long night, folks. Instead of punch...we may need strong coffee!

CaJ

YIPPIE.... 6:41pm flew back to the Nest!

Judith Hart

She just flew back to the nest!

Bea Griffore

Yes, I saw it too! Had to look just one more time. WooooHoooo and she's up on the A branch. Now I realy am leaving.

Cristine

I got on just in time to see her fly back into the nest! Awesome job, Rudy! Now she flew onto the Alcoa branch.

Cherrycarol

Now it's time for dinner. It was her calling out.

Mavis

7:52 PM EDT

She did it again...flew from nest to that lower limb!!

Cristine

Oh my! She just flew out of the nest again!

Coleen Perilloux Landry

I think Rudy is a girl bird so I will continue to say "she" and "Miss Rudy". She is getting her taste of independence in the branches. It's like playing "Where's Waldo" to find her. I guess she be back in the nest at supper time or whenever she gets hungry enough.

Cristine

I am so excited to see her fly out the second time! Colleen... "Where's Waldo" is right :)
And I think she is a girl bird, too!

Cristine

And....she flies back in the nest for the second time!

Judith Hart

I wonder what's around there that all the birds are carrying on?

Cristine

There she is... standing alone in the nest after her day of adventure :)

Bea Griffore

Oh good, more excitement while I was gone. And sounds like Rudy was awesome at flying! It's dark so I have no clue where she is right now but I'm going to think she is perching just outside the nest and all is well.

Coleen, I think girl too.

SED

CaJ

5:24 am at the nest.... Rudy is awake and ready for flying lessons for the day. Wings out and jumping. Just hop/flew up the branch.

Cherrycarol

6 am & Rudy is calling out & then here comes breakfast. A fish I think.

Good Morning

Coleen Perilloux Landry

I think breakfast was a coot. Rudy is thinking about taking a little flight.

Judith Hart

What is that circular shape below the nest? It looks like a sprinkler.

Judith Hart

Parent tried to land on the nest edge, Rudy knocked her right off the side.

Judith Hart

Is that a new young goose delivered? Rudy finally has learned to pluck the feathers.

Cherrycarol

Where did she go? I hear her but can't see her. As soon as I leave something happens.
Yes I think it's another goose. There r so many there easy pickins.

Mavis

Rudy has a mind of her own...and she flew clean out of sight. She knows we want to watch her every move. I wonder what she is up to.

Mavis

L or J is on the nest eating and I hear Rudy squealing in the background. She doesn't like anyone to eat her food! Maybe she'll fly back now.

Cristine

I see Liberty in the nest eating something, but where o where is Miss Rudy? I can hear her crying somewhere, and I heard a ruffle of feathers, so she must not be too far. I thought I saw a feather fall down from above, so maybe she is above the nest this time!

Judith Hart

She just landed in the nest, flew in from the right and knocked parent out of the nest again.

Cristine

Things change fast around here! I got back and now Rudy is back in the nest to check for leftovers and Liberty is gone!

Mavis

Well...that worked...Rudy flew back and knocked parent out of the nest again. I think L and J will get tired of that shortly.

Cristine

Sorry to have missed that scene. You just can't leave for a second around here :)

Cristine

Rudy back on the Alcoa branch. I wonder how long before she flies out of the nest again?

Judith Hart

She's sitting there with her left leg hanging off the branch.

Annette Kryske

8:35 AM Pdt Rudy was sitting right where she is sitting at 6:45 when I turned on my computer. It looks like a gorgeous sunny day in Alcoa Land. The sound is loud as usual.Just turned it off. Most of the others fly away and don't comeback too soon,if it at all. Rudy feels safe here. I am sure when she is ready, she will go, we will be sad in the beginning and happy again for Rudy's flying with Liberty and Justice.

Cristine

Ok. I come back and Rudy is still on the Alcoa branch, but this time she is turned around so she has her back to us. TTV is dark. Hot and very humid right now in the Q.C. Chance of severe storms later on today or tonight. I don't like that much :(

Judith Hart

Out of the nest again, she flew to the lower right corner of the screen just above that white branch...hidden in the leaves.

Dennis Kwiecien

Hopefully you can pull back on the nest camera now that Rudy is bigger and moving around now. Would be nice to watch him move around since he is going all directions, including firward from the nest camera. Thanks for all the updates and efforts to keep this site running well.

Dennis Kwiecien

Oh, I also saw him take that short flight!!!! Awsome...

Bea Griffore

Well, I missed all the action this morning! Too many things going on here right now. I'm checking all the black spots to see if one of them is Rudy. No luck!

Cristne, Do you think we have had enough storms? I sure do!

I love listening to all the surrounding sounds, especially when it isn't so horribly windy like today. ANNETTE, you turned the sound off? I just turn it down.

Well, late lunch time for me. Maybe Rudy will be back in the nest when I'm done. bbl

Dennis Kwiecien

He moved from the branch in front of the nest... ( our right)... now on the branch to our left where he was yesterday... hiding in the branches...

Donna

Rudy is back in the bottom right corner, have to go full screen to see him

Bobbie

2:35 PM CST
No Rudy in nest. Did see a pile of grey feathers near edge, might have been Rudy's breakfast!

Just checked the osprey nest & that little chick has really grown. the last couple times I looked he was under a parent out of the sun. Won't be long till he leaves his nest.

Dennis Kwiecien

Looked like Rudy had duck for breakfast....

Judith Hart

She's back!

Cherrycarol

4 PM Back in the nest. Of course I missed her flying in.

Paula Kany

Rudy back in the nest, having "linner" (lunch/dinner). Can't tell, fish or goose or whatever but she is going big time after it. Has a stick on it also, so funny.

Cherrycarol

Gone again & I missed it too. Holly Cow can't look away for a second.

Judith Hart

Is that her up there on the left side of the nest? I can't see that far!
It is funny how she puts the sticks over her food, I guess she thinks it's hidden.

Mavis

I can't see her anywhere, Judy. The little stinker...she likes to play hide and seek with us. She's good, too!

Judith Hart

Well, that's not her behind the nest, just a clump of leaves blowing. I say defoliate the tree! Start climbing, one leaf at a time.

Judith Hart

I haven't heard her make a squeak, all I hear are Blue Jays in the background harassing something....I hope not her.
L or J just arrived and took whatever Rudy hid under the stick...gone now.

Judith Hart

Rudy just landed.

bbj

What a view! I feel I'm in the treetops with Rudy.

Mavis

10:15 PM EDT

Coyotes!!

Cristine

So where did Rudy end up at nightfall? Is she in the nest perched behind the Alcoa branch? Or off on a branch somewhere? I just love the sounds at the nest tonight, and have my volume turned way up!

Judith Hart

Cristine, before it got dark she was behind the Alcoa branch.

Cristine

Thank you, Judy :) Meet you at the nest tomorrow.

Mavis

6:58 AM EDT

Been watching standing by the Alcoa limb looking out over the trees. The area looks foggy or like rain. All the life around the nest makes the Tarzan-like forest scene alive with 'jungle' sound. A nice way to wake up. I'm sure Rudy is planning her agenda for the day...but for now...she is quiet.

Good morning all

Mavis

I guess I was half asleep when I posted that comment above...I had been watching RUDY standing by the Alcoa limb...

Cherrycarol

GM WOW is it ever foggy out. Rudy is calling for breakfast. I hear a bird that is mimicking her. Sounds weird. I don't think it's L or J. I'm going over there this afternoon to see what I can see. Carol

Bea Griffore

I love this new view of the TTV! And it's good to see Rudy back in the nest. I didn't expect the fog since it's clear at my house.

Carol, I hope you get to see a lot when you go to look!

I hear eagle calls! Can't tell if it's Rudy or a parent someplace. I think Rudy's calls are changing and sounding more like a grown up eagle. From what I've read here I better keep my eyes on the screen so I don't miss any action.

Bea Griffore

Parent just flew in and back out! Rudy is working on some kind of food.

Judith Hart

Dad, I think, just dropped off breakfast, and Rudy mantled it quickly. It looked ragged, can't see much of it.

Cherrycarol

I can't tell what it is either. Road kill maybe. lol

Judith Hart

Rudy stepped away from it and it's gone.

Bea Griffore

Yup, gone! Guess we'll never know what that was.

Cherrycarol

And off she goes. Wish I could man the camera. Bet she's not far away. You can tell when she's going to fly. Squeals first to get her courage up.

Judith Hart

Rudy just took off to the right, in a direction behind that large limb to the right of the nest. Squealing the whole time.

Bea Griffore

I reached to answer the phone and Rudy took off while I wasn't looking! I haven't seen her fly from the nest yet.....3 seconds, and she was gone!

Jo Ann

Is that Rudy on the bottom left side of the nest? I can't tell. It looks like a bird. Does anyone else see her/him?

Cristine

I just can't see anything that looks like Rudy. Either she has flown out of the picture entirely this time, or she is hidden behind the foliage somewhere in plain sight. Or..... another idea... maybe she is behind the giant eagle head in the lower right corner of the picture! Maybe Carol will be able to spot her today.
Nice out now. 77 in the Q.C., but a dew point of 70. Going to be another hot, sticky day today with another chance of storms later on. Typical summer day in the Midwest.

Bobbie

11:15 AM CST
Nest still empty. Rudy seems to be staying away from " home " more. She's getting really brave.

Judith Hart

Dad just brought a meal for Rudy....no Rudy....I hear squeals....Rudy appeared, Dad left....now she has a little goose to pluck.

Cristine

Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 7:00 P.M. for the Quad Cities area. Straight line winds of 40-60 MPH, 1/4 inch hail and heavy rain possible. Flood warning still in effect for the Mississippi River.

Cristine

Rudy back in the nest for a minute, squealing the whole time. She then flew into the trees on the very right edge of the camera about halfway down. You can kind of see her if you look hard.

Cristine

Line of storms approaching Cedar Rapids, West of the nest. Bea.... are you next in line?
