Rudy just flew in for nice fish breakfast squealing all the way, parent flew out and Rudy enjoying fish but squealing her thanks. Couldn't see where she came from but it was real fast. Thanks Mr. John for the update, look forward to the panning.

Paula Kany

She just had to put a stick on it, too funny!! Seems to me its harder to eat but as long as she gets food that's all that matters.

Bea Griffore

Thanks for the heads up Mr. John! Wouldn't you know, Rudy is now there. BUT, who knows where she will be in an hour?!?!?!?

Cristine

Thank you Mr. John! I look forward to the panning.

Bea Griffore

Count down is on and Rudy has left the nest. 15 minutes to panning time.

Mavis

Bea and anyone else...please take pictures... I have a pup in surgery.

Cristine

There she is!! You found her Mr. John!!

Bea Griffore

YEA - found her! WooooHoooo!

Cristine

Those stinkin' gnats! Great close-up of the back of her head. Look at those beautiful feathers.

Bobbie

12:10 CST
Wish she would face the camera so we coulde see the front of her. Maybe next time!

Bea Griffore

Awesome close-up of side view of head with beak open and clear view of tongue!

Gkeeslar

Thank you so very much for sharing Rudy with us over lunch

Bea Griffore

THANK YOU! Wow, that was fun!

Bobbie, I kept telling to "turn around I want to see your face" but she didn't pay attention.

Now to go look at my screen shots.

Great big Thanks to Alcoa and Mr. John! Guess she's still in the cottonwood tree.

Cristine

That was fantastic Mr. John! Thank you! It looked to me like she was on a branch close to the TTV camera. Isn't that in another tree? Is she officially fledged then?

Annette Kryske

Oops, I boo booed. I was thinking the time would 11:30 PDT, not EDT. I missed the good shot. Hope someone took a good picture of our Rudy, and posted it. Had a bunch of errands to do this morning. Whew! Good to be home and on my station to check all the gossip about our Eagle families.

R L ML

Great panning, I came on just before noon to see the close-ups. When she turned her head she seemed to be saying "Can't I get away from all you folks?"

Cristine

Mr. John posted a beautiful shot on #Alcoaeaglecam. You can view it right under the live cams. I also posted a couple of shots.... just learning how to do it, so bear with me!

Bobbie

1:05 PM CST
Bea, Rudy seem like any other little kid, she ignores her elders, until its meal time!!

Bobbie

1:10 CST
Photos Mr. John posted are great. Rudy is a very good looking eaglet.

Bea Griffore

R L ML You cracked me up - poor Rudy. Our eyes are always there. :)

Bobbie, yup! As long as the belly is full they're good!

Adult in the nest with food and I hear calling from someplace.

Now I need to check out Mr. John's pics. bbl

Bea Griffore

Cristine, I was thinking Carol said the TTV cam is in the same tree. I could be wrong on that.

Cristine

No, you are right, Bea. I was mistaken. It is in the same tree. So not officially fledged yet :)

Bea Griffore

Rudy must be close. The calling is loud! She better hurry - food is almost gone.

Cristine :)

Bea Griffore

And here she is still squealing like crazy and food looks like it's gone. Should see a tantrum soon!

Bea Griffore

Well she's gone and I missed it. Had to go pick up sticks again before lawn mowing. yuck - hate that job.

Cristine, great job on your screen shots! I emailed some to my friends. I just hope they aren't all sick of me and the eagles! Some of them do think I'm a little overboard with the eagles but I don't care. They can hit delete.

Again, Mr. John thanks for the panning today and finding Rudy for us. She's just gorgeous!!!

Annette Kryske

Bea, I laughed when I read your comment about picking up sticks before mowing your lawn.Every Thursday,Leon and I pick up at least 1,000 magnolia leaves from our Front lawn. The tree is on the pathway owned by the city of LA, I have called them about trimming it, as well as other people on our street. We did our thing for the water shortage, and put in Astro turf in the front and back yards, which is great but the damn leaves are a real pain. No sooner do we get them all up,the next day there are dozens more.I will post a picture this Thursday to show you what I mean.I too missed the closeups, but thanks to many of you, we got to view them.

Bobbie

Bea, you sound like me. I pulled weeds from flower beds this am & also picked up twigs before my hubby mowed. The oaks are nice for shade & breeze, but the wind has sure knocked a lot of small branchs down. always some to pick up when I walk through the yard!

MK McDowell

Just checked out the pictures on Twitter. Rudy is simply gorgeous! What beautiful feathers for an eaglet!

Bea Griffore

Cristine and Annette, this time was much easier than after that horrid storm last week. That's when we 105 mph winds from a "downblast" which I had never heard of before. Most of my mess is also from an oak tree. Great shade but too much deadwood comes down from that almost 100 year old tree. That's not even counting the mess from the acorns! Boy, do those hurt when they drop on your head!

Looks like Rudy is MIA again.

bbj

Rudy has a pretty spectacular view from that tree. Glad I was able to watch the panning today. Thanks for the views, the Twitter pics, and reports here.

Annette Kryske

Didn't anybody get a video of Rudy's close up?? I can kick myself for not knowing when all this was taking place. I personally try to post any info that might even be on TV, like the one about Decorah on PBS.I reminded many of you about that on FB and OT.

Cherrycarol

DARN! I didn't know about it either. SHOOT!! I have this on at work but had it on the Alcoa osprey instead! Kind of hard to do while your working.

Thank You Mr. John!! I will check more in case u do it again!

Cherrycarol

Great Shots Mr John & Christine. I haven't tried twitter yet.

Judith Hart

There she is, flew in from the back of the nest.

Judith Hart

Carol, I missed it too....I crawled out of my hermit shell and left early this morning.

Bea Griffore

Annette, sorry. I don't do videos.

Sorry about all of you who missed the panning today. Rudy sat facing towards the river the whole time. I got a neat shot of the side of her face with her beak open and tongue out a bit! It's my new fb profile pic. Her view was fantastic! OT has some great shots people posted.

Carol, I don't do twitter either.

No Rudy again. She's getting pretty good at coming and going!

Cherrycarol

I did see all the great shots people got on facebook. Great job!! Thanks too.

Coleen Perilloux Landry

Being the chairman of the National Live Oak Society, I am going to chide you all for complaining about trees. They give shade, they soak up water, they feed and shelter the birds (where would our eagles be without trees?). Storms are nature's way of pruning trees--work with nature a little bit. I run the mower over the magnolia leaves and they feed the lawn.
I haven't seen Miss Rudy since early this morning, although I haven't been able to get on the computer because of hours of lightning and thunderstorms and heavy rain. Don't want to get electrocuted or have my computer knocked out. I think we are in for a wet summer.

Annette Kryske

Coleen, don't get me wrong, I too know what good it is to have trees, and the good there is in them. I live on a busy street with lots of cars going in both directions. Though magnolias have beautiful flowers, the leaves are plentiful and do nothing but plug up the sewers on the street. That is why we pick ours up once a week, as well as my neighbors on either side do.They go out in the green barrel each Friday, which is trash pickup day. When we moved here 58 years ago,the trees we quite small, now they are huge.We didn't have the traffic
either. It is actually good exercise for us oldsters to do the pickups. It hurts when the leaves are picked up in the morning, and by the evening, there might be 100 new
ones.We grin and bear it.

Mavis

Finally sat down for a few minutes...day was very busy.

Bea...THANK YOU for those wonderful pictures. I really appreciate all the ones Mr. John and the others posted. So good to see!!

Mr. John...thank you for the heads up on the panning. I think it paid off as several were alerted in enough time to tune in. I could 'feel' the excitement from some of the posters as the 11:30 CDT approached. I watched as you panned a couple of times over the past year and it is a real thrill. I also like the new view you left the cam set to...and of course, your wonderful pictures that you posted. I just hate I missed the fun today. Thank you, again.

My pup is fine...I have her home...she is not in the best mood...but she will be fine.

Bea Griffore

Coleen, it's possible to complain about something and still love it. lol I do love my trees! Thanks for reminding me WHY I love my trees.

I heard a lot of calling as I was typing but haven't seen R, L or J. There it goes again and I'm pretty sure it's Rudy.

Cherrycarol

It must be dinner time. I hear her but don't see her.

Bea Griffore

Mavis, so happy to hear your pup will be fine! And you're welcome.

I don't see her either.

Skedaddle

I think she must be in the part of the tree by the TTV cam. I could hear her wings rattling. She was really screaming for supper a while ago, but is pretty quiet now. That nest is going to need a major remodeling job before next years egg laying!

Judith Hart

She's letting mom and dad know dinner better be on the table when I get there.

Judith Hart

She's home....

Cherrycarol

But it isn't. She looks tired from being out & about all day. I saw her head by the nest view cam & next thing u no Rudy's in the nest. That was fast.

Skedaddle

Just as she flew into sight heading for the nest the cam gave a jump as she pushed off so that must have been the branch she was on! Now we're gone again!

Cherrycarol

Mavis I'm glad your pup is ok. How old is he or she?

Cherrycarol

Gone again

Bea Griffore

Skedaddle, did you get to see the panning today? Rudy was very close to the TTV cam when we saw her.

And she's back! I didn't even see her come in!

Annette Kryske

7:03 PM DT. Rudy is in his security corner. Just a bit of chirping. Did he ever get his din din tonight?(that's what my children used to call dinner).Hear the train whistles. I love those sounds. We don't get many in the city. Nitey nite Rudy . SEDS

Skedaddle

No Bea, I missed it. At work, meetings, didn't turn on the Rudy Cam until about 1 pm, but I have enjoyed everybody's pix. Good job, all!

Bea Griffore

Skedaddle, maybe next time.

I guess that's it for the night. Rudy is probably in that same spot. SED

Coleen Perilloux Landry

I can hear Miss Rudy but the camera is foggy so cannot see if she is still in the nest. Won't we be sad when all we see is her little turtle shell?
Don't know if more storms are forecast in Davenport, we're having our share here. Straight line winds are creating havoc. Our nesting season is almost over here in southeast Louisiana so I am not too concerned about baby birds falling out of the nests. Squirrels, however, are a concern. We have a lady who takes in baby squirrels, she is licensed to do so, and her incubators are full right now. Bless people like her.
The only thing keeping Rudy around is she hasn't learned to hunt for herself yet. As soon as the River goes down a little, perhaps....

Cherrycarol

GM What a beautiful site. Seeing the sun shine down with 2 beams. I can hear Rudy too but can't see her. I'

m sure she's ready for breakfast.

HAPPY 12 WEEK BIRTHDAY. AND SOME ELSE ON HERE HAS ONE THIS WEEK TOO!!

Mavis

Ok, Carol....who else has a birthday this week?

Yes...so glad Rudy waited until at least now before fledging. They still have had no sighting of one of the Decorah eaglets that fledged on the 18th. Of the two eaglets they found...one is to have surgery this morning on fractured wing with a couple of months of rehab planned....the other one is on the ground near a fish hatchery, being fed by parents and working on fledging (again?). The Decorah nest had a rough season with weather and insects...hate they had trouble when they left the nest so young. They are fighters and hope they make it ok.

Rudy is not in nest right now. I must be crazy, but I thought the TTV showed some of the ground view on the right. I don't see it now. Did it move (the view)? Maybe it is just me.

Morning everyone

Mavis

I'm waking up more and think the view I see on TTV is the same. I was looking at some panning pictures before I went to bed last night and think I confused the view I saw in the pictures with the view now. Either way...I like the new view. It shows us more of the tree area...and the top of the tree.

Rudy is still hiding and I'm not hearing any squealing from her right now. L or J needs to arrive with breakfast and she will show up. Looks to be a pretty morning at the nest.

ER

Good morning all. No Rudy in sight, but the sound is so great with all the birds calling. I am not too good at id of bird calls, I just enjoy the sound. It is a beautiful sight of the nest floating on a sea of green. There is some sort of machinery below the nest, a grass cutting machine? I guess the water has gone back to the river where it belongs. It would be nice to see Liberty and Justice with Rudy once again, last family picture, This is a bitter sweet time on the eagles nest, eager young eaglets wanting to fly,mom and dad giving some last words of wisdom, rushing around with that fish for Rudy and now a empty nest in all that beautiful green

Bea Griffore

Good morning and what a beautiful morning it is! I think it's going to get hot again and of course there is a chance for showers later too.

Rudy is not home again. I haven't even heard her calling. Is she having breakfast at the river this morning? It's so calm, there is hardly a leaf moving. Just so pretty!

Rachel Gaines

Great pull out shot, Mr. John.
I love seeing the tree tops with the birds flying and a view of the river in the background. Beautiful!

Rudy is getting more beautiful every day.
I don't see the young eagle anywhere right now.
Perhaps Rudy has fledged?

Cristine

So quiet and calm at the nest this morning. No wind. That empty nest really is a lonely sight, isn't it? It was so wonderful yesterday when Mr. John did the panning and discovered Rudy perched happily on the TTV branch. I wonder if she is there now.

High of 84 today. Perfect summer day, My oldest son's birthday! Going to get started making him a three layer carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. He said that's all he wanted for his birthday :)

Have a great day everyone.

Bea Griffore

NEW THREAD.............with another panning session at 1pm CDT. Pass the word!
