RecycleBank, the leading green rewards and loyalty program that motivates people to recycle, announced significant growth from 2008. They broadened their service coverage from 35 municipalities and 100,000 homes in 2007 to over 90 municipalities and 210,000 U.S. homes in 2008.
The RecycleBank model motivates people to recycle by offering rewards to households based on the amount of recyclables they generate. Under this progam, the more recyclables put into a recycling bin results in more reward-based coupons, which are redeemed for various name-brand type products by Kraft and Coca-cola, among others.
