Canadian Recycler

Ms. Sleuth,

I did not think about pet food. But the big picture is basically;

1. Aluminum has to break the single serve portion market and upsize.
2. Aluminum has to replace multilayer packaging, where ever possible.
3. Alcoa has to empower the above because, "Aluminum knows the way".

Alcoa can't wait!

I own three cats, and in a good week generate up to 30 catfood cans. At the dump today I was told that they do not belong in the metal pile, or the steel can pile, or the aluminum pile. The suggestion was, throw em in the trash. And a big shrug to go with it. The only alternative is dry food, which is in paper.

This disappoints me no end...

I think the problem comes from the fact that all the cat owners in the area read the side of the boxes, and found out oh boy, I can recycle these--and the landfill people were inundated with cat food cans--there's even a big red sign that says NO CAT FOOD CANS. sigh.
