The latest surveys from the Aluminum Association show a 6.2% increase in the reclamation of used beverage cans in March 2010. The figures show that 95.9 million pounds of used beverage cans were reclaimed in March, compared to 90.4 million pounds in February.
The figures, however, represent a 15.5% decrease compared to March 2009.
For the year, a total of 267.9 million pounds have been reclaimed. That is down 14.2% from 2009.
This chart shows to be very helpful! Today I was actually calculating how many cans and bottles I had collected up over time. And in one bag I had 81 cans. I calculated that this would...
Save enough energy to run a 100-Watt bulb for 1,620 hours
-OR-
Save enough energy to run a computer for 243 hours
-OR-
Save enough energy to run a TV for 162 hours
Again, cool chart!
Stay green!

What is the economic impact of the declining figures? How does that compare to the number of can of soda that were sold in 2009? Perhaps the overall percentage of recycled cans is up??
